As far as my wheels go - it's been about 3 1/2 months and they still look good. There's a tiny bit of peeling on one inside edge, but to be fair I think this is down to the finish underneath being crap. I'm impressed, especially as it looks as good as when I did it. They wash well (I'm careful) and have no obvious blemishes from muck, oil, brake dust or road debris etc.

I plasti-dipped my wheels because the refurbishers said they couldn't do anything with them. Look better than they did (they were previously all silver, with some peeling on the sides of the spokes). I agree, though - not as easy as they make it look!

Or: I used tempcover.com to insure me for 24 hours when I brought my Supra home. As I then owned the car, my insurance didn't cover me and I struggled to find a company that would cover imported cars short term. Tempcover were very reasonable and was all sorted in 10 mins online.

Brokers not quoting against one another is to do with which underwriter they use. Apparently if they use the same, they can't do a quote. My renewal has just come through. It's a lot cheaper even with a non fault accident added. Sky gave me a decent quote last year, but have today beaten the rest hands down and I've gone with them. Everyone I've dealt with have been great, but I agree, it's a pain shopping around.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Some of you may remember my thread from a little while back. My crash was on the 01/02/2013. The man who T-boned the Supe admitted full liability and we received a letter re same from his insurance about 4 days later (it was over a weekend). We are now about 5 weeks later and the solicitors have now been instructed to take this to court. Hopefully this will gee up the other side to finally respond. There's not been any inspection of my car (it's still sat on my drive since the accident) and no bartering at all. I've continually had to chase everyone for updates as I feel like I've been left in the dark. I even wrote telling them of my annoyance over the whole situation and that I would not accept a write-off under any circumstances (not even with a buy-back option). For a car with bodywork damage only, I feel so miffed. I'm not in the least at fault and I feel like I'm the one losing out. On the plus I'm now on my second hire car... first was a 7 seater Galaxy... now a Jetta. It's been interesting.... frustrating... and many other less forum-friendly descriptives!

I feel for you. My Supe was hit on 1st Feb. I'm still waiting for insurance to sort it out. It's so sad to see it sat damaged on the drive when I could be out enjoying it...

How many times do you see a car at a glance and think its a supra ????
kokoro replied to little num's topic in Supra Chat
I do this all the time. Usually it's a Celica in my peripheral vision, or maybe a GTO. I hadn't seen any Supra's since getting mine. Now, since it's been off the road, I'm seeing them all the time!! Typical! I'm stuck in a 7 seater hire car (because that's the closest they had to a Supe!) while all these people enjoy their Supra's. Gutted. -
Just been for a quote on the work. It's looking like a new door and a fix on the rest. Price isn't too bad (considering) and the paintshop said they'll help anyway they can. I'm going through the third party insurer as he admitted full liability. If the assessors deem the price too expensive and send someone to check my car, the paintshop said they want the check to be at their place and they'll argue the point for me. It seems the cheapest and quickest option is for me to source my own door, though the paintshop will pay as part of the insurance settlement (if insurance agree on repairs). Therefore I will probably looking for one on here...... hint hint As above - how much do you want for it?

This is what I'm thinking. If they do decide to write it off then I will definitely look to buy it back and sort it myself. I was absolutely gutted when it happened. My friend kept saying, "Are you alright?" and all I could reply is, "My car! My car! What if they write it off?" I'd not even got it out of the junction or seen the damage! I think this is the worst thing about driving these sorts of cars. You're always so worried that one stupid driver could crush your dream.

I'm sure you can think of some 'types' of men who would drive these cars. He didn't look like a hairdresser...

Thankfully no injuries. What a joke that would have been. We were both doing about 10/15mph. Some idiot pulled out of a drive in front of me about 6 years ago and wrote off my then VW. I hit their car at 40 with no time to brake. Even then I didn't have whiplash, but I was bruised from shoulder to hips from the seatbelt! Whiplash injuries always puzzle me... Thank you. HIS FAULT. And yes, some women let the rest of us down.

He was sat at a giveway line waiting to pull onto the road I was on. He just went, even though I was there. No idea why he did it. He obviously didn't see me. To be fair the road I was on is a main road (40mph) on the edge of the rown and it is fairly busy. It's a pain to pull out, especially turning right (which is why he probably did what he did). You see a lot of reckless driving there. I'll see what insurers say. I don't think he was willing to pay outside of insurers. Who knows? We have each other's details so I guess I'll have to see what Monday brings.

Thanks for all the replies. I feel a bit better now. The guy admitted it was his fault from the off. I had a work colleague in the car at the time who I suppose is a witness. There were plenty of cars on the road and at the junction, but none stopped. The guy suggested insurance from the off, so that's how we're doing it. I never even thought about doing it any other way (I was in shock!), plus I need a hire car. Harvard, I've done a diagram which may explain how it happened. Definitely the guy's fault (because women are better drivers!). As far as the offer of the door - I'll keep it in mind if the insurance try to say it's not worth fixing. Thanks.

It's a low mileage NA (no clever comments - I'm already too mad!). I figure it only needs a tiny bit of work on front wing. The skirt is only scuffed. I can't see any chunks out of it. The rear wing has minor scratches. The door is the worst thing. I guess it's the respraying that costs money.... What a crappy day.

I was crashed into an hour ago. I'm still shaking. Wasn't even that bad - one of those slow motion ones where you know it's going to happen, but there isn't a thing you can do. The guy was in a little convertible MG and pulled straight out of a junction into me. I had right of way and we were both turning right, so he pretty much went down my entire offside. I suppose it could have been worse - he could have been in a giant 4x4 or something. I'm furious and sad at the same time. The car still drives fine. Appears no damage to wheels/suspension. IMO it's all cosmetic. The door doesn't open/shut properly, but it will if you wiggle it. Please tell me the insurers will fix this and won't try to write it off....

I was bought one of these kits (Tamiya) about 10 years ago because I always wanted a Supra. I made it and I think it's in the loft somewhere. Never thought I'd actually get one. It's even the same colour as my current car. I managed to snag an unbuilt Revell 1:24 Corrado kit on ebay for my boyfriend. All bags are still sealed with everything included and box in good order. He won't build it, though because it's so rare. Maybe he will if he ever sells his Corrado!

Cats are very good at setting these off....
