  1. Picked up the Supra today. On the final run through the car controls before driving off, the previous owner took great pleasure in showing us the infamous boot release lever. Couldn't help but chuckle.....
  2. Picked up the new Supra today. Big, big smiles. Took a piccy at the services on the way home. Check out my dog photobombing! Very happy with car. Been pampered prior to my purchase and sub 50k on the clock. Couldn't be happier right now.
  3. Couldn't agree more. I reckon it's either a hoax or an elaborate marketing ploy for an upcoming film... I'd rather it be a real invasion than a movie on par with Skyline, though.
  4. "...I woke from a medically induced coma two weeks later, only to find that my spuds had been surgically removed, I had suffered third degree burns to 20% of my body, and what was left of my member looked like Freddie Kruger. To sum up then : This product left me barren, deformed, and unable to perform in bed. It did however remove all of that pesky, problematic hair. 5 STARS !!!..." Genius
  5. This thread is making me jealous. It has been two weeks and two days since I went to view my Supra. We're waiting on documentation from DVLA before I can complete the purchase (it had a private plate on). The new plate has been assigned, the new MOT and tax disc as been sent through. We're just waiting on the V5 now. It's torture. I want my Supra now
  6. I've been boring myself stupid over the last few days trying to sort insurance for the impending Supra collection. My own insurers (Direct Line) want to add £422 plus an admin fee to my current policy of £260. The excesses weren't great. If I cancel they want £107! I did multiple comparison site quotes and then started to ring around those recommended on here. Sky, Adrian Flux, Greenlight and Need2Insure were all about the same £680-£700. Fairly high excesses too. Aviva want me to call back when I have specifics about the model of the alarm and immoboliser. Diamond was in the lead with a £585 quote and small excesses. They looked like a winner until I got a callback from Livingstones Warman today. I forgot I called them. It took them a few hours to get back to me, but beat all the rest at £485 fully comp, courtesy car, legal, key cover and even covers a small amount of business use. The excesses are average and they give a discount for being a club member too. Bonus. The staff were very helpful too. Interestingly, both LWIB and Diamond insurance is with Marker Study yet with very different prices. Go figure! I'm still waiting for a call from Competition, but I doubt they'll beat LWIB. I did get a laugh from Performance Direct - £4400 with the small amount of business use, £2200 without...!
  7. Lol. I guess you're right, Lauren. I did my Pass Plus, and it knocked my first years insurance down from £1200 to £600. Occasionally it makes a difference now, but rarely. I think it's better for those just passed. I actually got a quote last night that made me roll around laughing £4400+ !! If I kicked off the occasional business use it dropped to £2200, but still! I think with Supra's, insurance drops when you've had experience 'that' specific car. It's a question a lot of the insurers asked me. Good luck with your search
  8. Lauren, what sort of price are you getting insurance wise? I'm thinking your idea of reasonable and mine is not the same thing. I'm waiting to pick up my first Supra (NA) and have been really annoyed with insurance quotes - I'm female with 8 years no claims and live in a nice area. Fully comp is coming back anywhere between £500 and £1000+. Most are averaging at £650 which I think is a little high.
  9. Excellent. Looks like I'll be picking up the Supra in a couple of weeks then.
  10. Abz, he hasn't got a local DVLA office so is thinking about sending off all the paperwork on Saturday. The new MOT is being done on Tuesday (it should pass!), so I'm guessing we'll be a go for the newest MOT being the one changed?
  11. Thanks for the replies. I've called the owner and told him to transfer the plate prior to me completing the sale. He's still a little unsure on the whole process, but seems to understand this is the best way (at least I hope - he's 63 and not too up on all this!). I still may get the new MOT with the wrong VRM on, but we'll see. I guess that can be rectified at a later date. You may get an update of me pulling my hair out midway through the next week.... But it's soooooo hard! Lol.
  12. Hello, Well today I went to see a Supra, and I decided that he's definitely the one for me. YAY! I have put down a deposit and hope to collect soon... But things have got quite complicated when trying to work out the number plates, so a little help/advice would be appreciated. The car was imported from Japan by the current owner and was put onto his own private plate straightaway. It has never had a different VRM. The car still is displaying this plate (as per all paperwork). The car is not due for an MOT until May, but the current owner is MOTing it next week to complete the sale (so the new MOT certificate will have the current VRM). Now I have no idea what we do about the private plate. The current owner has knocked £300 off the price of the car so I can buy a private plate myself, however I won't be doing this soon (yes, it is a very nice offer!!). I know in an ideal world he should have retained his plate prior to advertising the car, but he's as clued up as I am (which is to say not very in this matter). I suggested I buy the car as is (IE with his private plate), and once I get all the paperwork through, I remove his plate from the car and let him have it back. He has agreed to this as I have no interest in keeping it. Am I right in thinking that if I do this I will own his plate on retention? If so, I'm guessing it will cost me the £80 to do this? Also, if I then transfer the plate back to him - will it cost more money? He is intending on putting the plate on his everyday car so I don't want this process to cost him any more money. I know I could get him to change the plates prior to registering the car to me, but I think we could be waiting weeks to do this (something neither of us wants to do). What is the best way to deal with this situation? Any advice would be most welcome.

    Tyre help

Have you tried pricing up on http://www.blackcircles.com ? I've used them for the last 3 lots of tyres I've had. You order online and book in at a local garage, paying one 'all in' fee online. There are also reviews on there which is handy. My current car has 205/55/16 and I was priced between £60-80 per tyre for budget brands (I called about 4 local garages). For about £75, I got Pirelli P6000's. I cannot emphasise what a difference good typres made to the handling and feel of my car, especially in the wet. I would never go down the 'part worn' or budget route again. When you're talking safety, tyres are the only thing keeping you on the road. Don't go cheap. It's not worth the risk.
  14. I emailed Paul Brown last week about a car on their website. Not heard a peep yet. TBH, I'm glad as it would be a long trek if it was a rough one.
  15. I think you'll like this guy's technique. It's good for a laugh if nothing else. Warning: contains bad language and plenty of killing! Oh and hello everyone... Great forum.
