This may be a stupid question, but as my dials have now arrived - is it obvious where exactly I need to SOLDER the pos and neg on the back of the cluster? My instructions from Moman are in Polish! Thanks
-
Agreed! Small touches are the key I reckon. Personally I'm doing the dials, brake calipers and purple edged mats. I'm considering changing the rest of the dash lighting to purple and possibly will replace the leather arm rests with black leather and purple stitching, but that would be it. Purple is the best colour ever IMO! Will certainly post up picks when I get the dials fitted. Waiting for a bit of dry weather as I need to get my Thor converter in too

I love the purple touches. Nicely done. This is what I'm slowly doing with mine. I've just got my new purple plasma dials delivered (custom made by Moman). Can't wait to get them fitted and see how they look.

Mine are customed designed so finalising that took a bit of time, but they were dispatched from Poland via UPS on Wednesday. They we're touring Europe, with a brief stop in Germany, and are now resting somewhere in the Midlands. Should be with me on Monday, so 4 workings days delivery. Once they get here I can get my dash out and Thor delimiter and new dials in.

Anyone got a link or pics for these mats? I'm looking for some new ones, but have something particular in mind. Thanks!

It can't be all bad, on the UK plastidip website you can see a pic of someone's Audi R8. Looks decent too. www.dipyourcar.com is an awesome website to check out. They go nuts for the stuff in the states. Apparently people cover wheels and trim on brand new vehicles to protect them. I've just received 4 cans to do my wheels. I love my wheels, but I'm told not suitable for refurb so I've decided to coat them myself. I'll post up pics when I get them done (whenever we get some dry weather). Checking on Youtube, plenty of people have posted up videos of their cars/wheels 6 months and longer down the line - still looking fresh with no peeling. Oh and plastidip is used in industrial settings like bridges etc so it must be okay.... PS - I have no affiliation with plastidip!!

I ordered a 250ml can of this stuff. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAKE-CALIPER-DRUM-PAINT-METAL-STEEL-HEAT-RESISTANT-ENGINE-PLASTIC-CAR-BIKE-/270959388629?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Paint_Varnish_MJ&var=&hash=item3f167027d5 Not tried it yet, so cannot comment on quality or durability, but it is marketed as high temp genuine caliper paint. I order the Cadbury purple. It's not as blue as the pic, but then again it is a very nice colour. Very sparkly when I tried it on a bare piece of black metal and covered well (would need more than one coat so probably similar to Hammerite).

Hey, One thing I'd say about taking an annual policy and cancelling - sometimes your insurance company will try to front load your cancellation with a load of fees (especially if early in the policy). My old policy on my old car wanted to charge £100+ for cancelling. I kept that car on the drive a bit longer and then cancelled, which ended up only costing £24. Re temp cover. I'm not sure if companies do 3 months, but I used www.tempcover.com to insure my Supra for 24 hours when I went to collect it. It was really resonable and one of the only companies who would actually consider insuring a Supra for a short time. They do 1-28 day cover. Not sure if they do longer. I did all mine online and got the documents straight through on email which is excellent if you're away from home. Hope you get sorted.

Moman are currently making me some custom dials. Looking forward to receiving them if the above pics are anything to go by...

Surely the Supra is too rare to be chav? I mean, I could understand if you saw plenty driving around with bad kits and techno pulsating out of them, but you don't. They turn heads because there's hardly any of them around and that makes people jealous. Supra's get called chavvy for one of two reasons IMO - 1. People are green with envy. In which case smile and know you're better than them. 2. You have chavved up your Supra with a crap body kit, paint job or mod AND/OR you're driving like a tw@t. In which case - stop bringing the rest of us down...

Well said, Sir. My sentiments exactly.

I love my NA too. Big smiles every time I see or drive it. And yes, I do have a handbag full of rainbows.... On a serious note, we could be sheep and drive around in Fords and Vauxhalls and 'boring, boring, every other car on the road', or we can make a stand, buy a Supra we can comfortably afford to run and enjoy being different.

Can recommend Livingstones Warman. They beat all the competition by a whopping £100. Mine was £485 all in, fully comp. Excellent policy and they do club discount! Extremely helpful staff too.

Mine has done just over 77k km, roughly 47k miles. Not bad for 18 years old and was the main reason I bought it!

Inspired to find out if that annoying thing rolling around under my passenger seat was possibly a flare... we went in search. Found the following under the seats: Over £3, a Japanese coin and both labels off my mats. Bonus. Notable use by dates: Lockets 2004 Soft mints 2008 FLARE - 1998!!! (it's now stored safely away from the Supra)

It looks a hundred times better. I'm very happy with the results. Here's the link for the kit I bought. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quixx-Headlight-Restoration-Kit-Lens-Sealer-Headlamp-Restorer-Prevent-Cure-/260956882100?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3cc23e04b4 The lovely Corrado belongs to my boyfriend. We like old coupes with class.

The J-Spec headlights on my new Supra were yellowed with some condensation in the passenger one. I won't have time to do the oven trick any time soon. So I decided to tackle the yellowing and cloudiness in the interim. I ordered this kit after reading reviews of loads of products online (and the forum). The main reason I picked this one was because it's got also sealant to stop the lenses deteriorating again. After cleaning the headlights, I wet sanded them with 2000, 3000 and then 5000 grade paper. This is what they looked like after all three grades (NB, it got worse before it got better!) The next step was to apply the plastic polishing cream and apply fast and with pressure. I used the incuded cloth and sponge, but finished off with a microfibre cloth for windows. They polished up better with this. The final step was seal them with the cream spray included. This is the finished effect. I'm impressed and it wasn't as hard or as time consuming as I expected. I'd definitely recommend the kit (I got it on eBay).

Thanks I spoke to another engineers today about my wheels. They are too far to pop in, but they've asked for pictures to be sent via email which I've done. Closer inspection today found the following - Flaking silver covering on the spokes (this silver is a different shade to the rims). White chalky residue under the flaked coating. Bad repair on a couple of the spokes. Some curbing on fronts. And for some unbeknown reason, the previous owner of the wheels has painted the rim behind the spokes a dark grey (badly by the looks of it). I'm just hoping they can be refurbed. I like these wheels and don't want to have to source new ones. They are 'Works' so I don't know much about their usual make-up or what the coating may be. Fingers crossed they're not chrome plated.

Day four of ownership - still happy . I just don't have enough places to drive. I want to drive everyday and now cursing my car share as I won't get to drive tomorrow. The speedo is waaaay out (see my other thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?268708-Speedo-converter-question ) and I definitely need to do something with the headlights - they've got pretty bad condensation. Wheel update - I took the car to a specialist re-furb company today. They took a look and decided they didn't think they could do anything with my wheels. They could dip and strip them, but have no idea whether they will damage them beyond repair (I'm not sure if this is because they're Japanese wheels??). They advised to either live with them or buy new wheels. Gutted.

Apologies if I'm being dense (I am new!), but I'm fairly confused by the whole speed converter/delimiter area and hope someone can help? When I bought my car, the previous owner said he'd changed the speed dial to show mph - now this I took to mean he simply removed the physical kph disc and replaced with a mph one (the original kph one is in with the documentation). The speedo isn't very acurate, probably reading about 4 mph slow at 30 (more inaccurate at higher speeds). The odometer is still showing kph. The car is still limited. Today we got the flashing O/D light on the dash. Haven't had chance to do any fault code checking re this (it happened for the first time late this evening). Am I right in thinking that my car probably hasn't had a speed converter fitted? Is there any problems with not having one fitted (other than an inaccurate speed reading)? Could this have any impact on the fact the O/D light is flashing? Thanks in advance

Thanks for the comments. It's a '94 N/A J-Spec. No plans re power (there's plenty right now for my first forray into Supra ownership). The splitter has a minor crack, so I intend to fix that. The alloys are Works and could do with a re-furb (I'm unsure on finish yet, possibly black spokes and silver rims?). The wipers need a re-furb and the lights aren't as clear as I'd like. Probably get clear sides/indicators. After seeing the plasma dials, I'm tempted on changing those too! Lots to be getting on with...
