Wow freak accident that the other car was at the perfect place to launch the car in the air clear of the barrier and into the fence ! It’s amazing no one was killed as it narrowly missed decapitating two of the Marshall’s.

Another one bites the dust will the car get crushed or will it be sold at auction to be repaired ? What kind of paperwork have they given telling you about the payout ? Is it possible to share without any personal information ? It would be great if you could as this could prove invaluable should another member be in the same predicament. I can see with the rarity of these cars coming up for sale that potentially the next time this happens there won’t be a car for sale and someone might get screwed. You can still stay around you don’t need a Supra to stay a member !

To be honest it’s not surprising is it ? The number of cars in the country has been declining for a very long time as the number exported, scrapped or written off outweighs the number being imported. I’ve heard that the stock levels in japan have gotten so low and prices so high that it might be become more feasible for the Japanese to import them back in. Not to forget the potential for stock to start moving over the pond. So expect numbers to keep declining as they become more and more valuable and people cash in. Eventually most of the cars will belong to collectors.

Also worth mentioning it has been hit on the rear corner so the crash bar wouldn’t have taken anywhere near the brunt of the impact. Just noticed that there is a junction behind the supra where the bmw came from so he has come flying round the corner and been surprised to see a row of parked cars and didn’t have time to react which is probably why he didn’t swerve.

Firstly I’m glad no one was injured secondly I’m not so glad that the little turd wasn’t injured in a subsequent “accident” that the camera didn’t catch .... This is absolutely gutting and I really do feel for you, as Chaz has said if they don’t write it off and repair it then it will most likely get a C or D marker. To play devils advovacte here the crash was a rear shunt so the quarter has been squashed from behind. The Supra has been shoved over 2 meters down the road now I’m no maths expert but the energy transfer for a 1340kg car to move a 1570kg over 2 meters has to be pretty decent. So I would be expecting damage to the boot floor as well. Like I said I’m no expert on this and a structural report might reveal something that we can’t see. I’d be taking in all the good advice in the thread and don’t let them take it away. Did you have an agreed value ?

They all are it’s the nature of what it takes to be in the pinnacle of Motorsport. The only thing that differentiates them is racing skill and their car, it’s no secret that the level of investment in the top teams dwarfs the rest of the field but new regs will tighten that up. Lewis and Mercedes have done everything right this season where it counts and sometimes I think people forget this is a team sport. It only takes one person to mess up to cost a driver the championship. I think it speaks volumes when people all over the racing world are praising Lewis for his incredible driving skills and his career achievements. He is a 5 time world champion and it’s not a fluke even if you have some sort of vendetta against him you can’t deny that he is one of if not the best in the business at this point in time. Yes there are other very good drivers on the grid but it takes more than one or two good races to become a world champion.
