  1. Hi Chris, It's like most things "you get what you pay for" and for many what you can afford, i have fantastic performance and stock smooth if just cruising, getting same MPG as pre- NA/T, which was 20 MPG. Hi Tricky, Sort of reassuring what you explained, i imagine ECU failures can affect all cars, this is not just a Supra thing, and so far, all be it early days, no members have reported any actual failures and this is a big world wide club ? Also what is DET ? Hi bignum, What does your post mean ?
  2. Hi ashloys, I love the "wee ballroot" bit it must be a Northern Ireland thing, in Lancashire we say the little sh-t. lol. Hi chazuk, Which car won ?
  3. Hi Tricky & Chris, Thanks for info nice when you know your stuff like that, it is also what you said about the reliability of the Emange software which is reassuring to me, and probably many other members who have sparce budgets for tuning. My NA/T man told me the mapper and the patience and experience they have is paramount. I assume the aftermarket ECU's are quite expensive? Chris will know. Again i think it is "horses for cources" in that if your car is a weekend toy and your not relying on it to take your family on holiday or going to work each day, then if the software fails on your toy it's acceptable, if it just cuts out or some thing, if the failure of an Emange can cuause engine damage, similar to a timing belt failure, where the broken belt allows the pistons to come into contact with the valves, then that would be a concern ! ! but i cannot see how any electronic signaling to ignition or fueling, could cause any damage. Have any members heard of such failures ? ? not sure what Chris means about wrecking anything ? Herbie.
  4. Hi Everyone, I am fascinated and interested in how much a stock NA ECU is modified when the "Emange" software pigy back kit is fitted? I know from the technical help i have had for my NA/T from some members that you can answer this and i am sure, like me, there are other members who would like to know how this works, where it is located, how reliable, and what the alternatives are? Herbie.
  5. This is a good quality Cisbo parking sensor kit, it is easy to fit and comes with a hole saw for fixing the four sensors in the rear bumper. It is brand new still in the box. £18 delivered, UK mainland only. REV.KIT#2 (1).jpg (184.2 KB) REV.KIT#2 (2).jpg (181.4 KB)
  6. In my big Merc i make my own fuel additive with cetane and mineral 2 t oil, circa 120ml cetane to 100ml 2t oil, this is in a 80lit tank, i get mega quieter engine, more response and 4 mpg, which is about 67 extra miles on a full tank, i am not doing that for the greens, i am doing it to make my engine last longer and run better. The formula came from a German Scientist on my Merc site, apparently the 2 t oil gives back the lubrication which the removal of all sulphur from the diesel has taken away, the cetane changes the valancy of the fuel, (makes the oxygen molecules interact more readily with the hydrocarbon diesel fuel). Everything has a carbon footprint apart from, wind gen, tidal gen,sun panels and nuclear. Herbie.
  7. Hi samdale, I have a breath tester and so does my friend, we some times check the calibration with each other, we don't have a problem, i understand what you are saying, but it is every one to their own, i have used my 2 pints rule for many years, also it is real ale circa 3.4%, not lager at more like 5%. The real drink drivers who have forced the UK law on drink driving would laugh at my 2 pint rule.Herbie.
  8. Hi Chris, That's a bad situation re the amount some motorists drink and then drive. I have always had a two pint limit, everything i do relies on my driving licence, i know many think about their licence and forget about killing or injuring some one. When i was in engineering i lost 4 of my best Engineers through drink driving, and even where their wives offered to drive them around , it was a strict company rule and the Personel Department insisted i dismissed them. Yorkshire police have a scheme running which encourages people to report anyone they see leaving the pub to drive that have had too much to drink, and on conviction the person who reported them get £1,000 tax free from "Crime Stoppers". I could never shop anyone like this and some are friends and relations who do it ! My hobby apart from cars is trekking and last week end we were in Scotland, the drink drive limit there is only 30cl, not 80cl as we have, so we had to be careful how much we drank in the evening as most drivers there are caught in the morning. May not be long before England takes on the 30cl limit. Herbie.
  9. Hi bigsupes, i agree with you, but it could be less than 10 years, unless we get out of the EU law system. The UK would be a better place if we had a pop of 35 mil, instead of the growing current population at 65mill, roads in Lancashire and roads south of Birminham are now car parks most of the time, it only needs a truck driver to fart and we have a 20 mile tail back, like some one said we have to enjoy it whilst we can. Herbie.
  10. Real balls out sports cars have to have a big engine, a big exhaust note, and a manual gearbox, and some one who can drive it, and fix it without having a degree in electronics.
  11. Hi formatzero's i love your sexist comment, said like a true Scot. Hi Pete, The "RS" badge has been removed last week but i used to tell onlookers it was the "Rally Supra" only a few ever made, manual close ratio box, limited slip diff, single T70 Garret turbo, Emange ECU, Koni shocks, stage 4 clutch, etc, etc, they loved it, so did i, now i have taken the badge off, the car is a "Wolf in sheeps clothing". lol. Herbie.
  12. If there eyes are like mine, this is what they see. IMHO you can see why they want one. 20160224_141950.jpg (203.2 KB) 20160223_115954.jpg (204.6 KB)
  13. Some of you may be aware of this ,or may be, all of you? I am not saying this only applies to Supra owners, but we are at the front of the queue, may be i have had more experience, but you get comments like, "only hairdressers have these cars", "why have an agressive car that looks like a great white shark", "are you trying to make up for a small party piece", could be jelousey, but out on the roads many want to race you. In the past ,with my pre NA/T, i had problems with a few modern cars, sort of just holding my own with Nisan 350's and Mazda MX5's etc, not any more with the post NA/T situation, no contest. At my local pub there are a few petrol heads and they think my car is a good piece of engineering that at 20 years of age can match or beat their mega bucks lease hire BM's and Mercs etc. I have to admit that when you pull up outside some places you can tell some people think your a prick, and others show interest in your car, i have never been sure what drives this? may be some of you know? Herbie.
  14. I keep seeing more and more about the hideous self drive cars and electric cars, all major roads and M/Ways with average speed cameras etc. Most of this SH/one/T is coming from beurocrats who have chauffers or take the train, they now want a train which will get them to Manchester from London 20 minutes faster, it costs 54 billion, meanwhile our roads are full of pot holes and the M6 and M25 need another deck on top for just cars, they are now just car parks, only 20 billion, this would delight millions of motorists and not as with the new train just a hand full of people, also when they arrive in Manchester for a meeting in Bolton the time they have saved on the London to Manchester super train run is lost, as the journey to Bolton with mega log jam roads is 45 minutes. lol. However i digress slightly, back to my question, will the greens force us to lose our mega grunt gas guzzlers? Some rumours are that we will be limited to 1.5k miles/yr, or heavilly road taxed. What do you think? Herbie.
  15. Chris you well know "you are as old as who you feel", you were quoted as saying, " i did lots of terrible things to girls when i first met them and they loved it" or some thing like that. Some girls love cars and owners who smell of Castro "R" like you. Herbie. lol.x
  16. I am not a fan of "flushing oils" good advice from rider. Good petrol such as the Shell V-max keeps the top end clean, even part synth oils look after the bottom end, have friends who have used flushing oils and then suffered burning oil. My oil post my NA/T conversion is Silkolene. Pro.R.15w-50.ester fully synth, it was darkish golden colour and it stays that colour as i fitted a thermostatic oil cooler which maintains the oil temp at it's optimum working temperature, ( 90C), this is as important as the oil quality. Herbie.
  17. Why no German stuff? and the bit about girl pulling power?
  18. Very fast response, but not the answers i expected.
  19. Not at all suprised it is now sold, what car can you buy today for this kind of money with this kind of performance and little if any depreciation. Herbie.
  20. IMHO it is a good car, a bargain with the NA/T kit, the engine bay needs a clean up, even an oily rag or a tin of wd40 would enhance. there are no more of these beasts and are an investment. Herbie.
  21. Ok you have a £10K budget and there are no Supras, so what would you buy, criteria is performance, tuning potential, handling, quality of engineering,DIY possibilities, world wide petrol head status, stability at speed, aesthetics, girl pulling power.? Herbie.
  22. Enjoy Nurburgring, be careful, but remember "big balls" can beat faster cars, i have ridden competatively in the IOM and the fastest bikes did not always win.
  23. At that mileage and condition, and a manual box, this car is a real bargain, you must be in a hurry to sell or i am missing some thing, good luck to johnny mac. These cars are now an investment, had mine from new, now 42K on clock, pre my recent NA/T conversion i wanted £7K, post the NA/T i would want £11k, and with patience i am confident i would get it. Herbie.
