  1. Thanks Chris, Am i right in thinking that coilovers and strut bars are for cars you intend to use in competition where you are looking for maximum performance and handling in the corners etc, i ask this as my car was lowered and fitted with Koni shocks as soon as i bought it new, to be honest at the time i just did what others did to these cars not really knowing why, well the lowering looked good and i knew the C of G would be better. But my baby corners quite well, it will take more than i can take on high speed corners, in the dry i hasten to add. My grandson has just bought a Subaru WRX with a big Greedy turbo circa 360 bhp at the wheels and as you will know all four wheels drive, it has all the suspension gismos on it as well, so you just could not IMHO match this with any Supra, no matter how much more power it had ? 2. Hi Guys, Sorry to be a pleb, but what are coilovers, and what are their purpose ? Herbie.
  3. Hi Tim i tried to PM you but it would not go through as your capacity of your mail box is full. Can you PM me when you receive this thread. Herbie.
  4. Car looks great in the 204, just needs the calipers red IMHO. Herbie.
  5. Every day you will see people driving by you in expensive BMW, Mercs, etc, and 75% of them do not own them, they are rented. So shelling out £16K for a car is quite respectable, however, i would not like to be involved with prospective buyers, no matter what their circumstances are, where they string you along and then back out. Herbie.
  6. Many on here think the NA/T autos are great and you do not have the harsh grabbing clutch issues to put the power down, however like you i can only be manuel, it is a key part of sports driving, in and out of the corners etc. You must be looking at £7.5K for your car IMHO and good luck with your probable sale. Herbie.
  7. I would say it is worth a min of £6K as it is, then the manual and NA/T conversion, the budget ones, will take it to £11.5K, the car would look good and go well and much better than a new Vauxhall Astra at £12K. The old MK4 Supras are getting more and more in demand all over the world. Just imagine driving down our motorways in the near future and putting two fingers up at some prick in a "Driverless Car", which can only be worked on by three people in the whole world. Seriously the older cars which can be tuned and perform like the silly money stuff must grow in value, they look great and they are still "real cars", not all electric pufter machines which have no gears, no exhaust noise, and the handling in the car wizardy instead of in the driver. Herbie.
  8. The most important thing is it's BLACK, no other colours look anything like as good IMHO, apart from metallic blue, red, white and metallic grey. Herbie.
  9. We picked up the car yesterday, the seller was a fanatic, the car was fantastic, white bodywork, with face lift lights and bonnet, upholstry as new. When he fired it up it was very loud with the four inch diameter exhaust, i ask him about it, and he just lifted the boot lid and reached for a special silencer plug he had made, it just pushed into the tail pipe and had two thumb screws, a simple good idea. It had 18 inch wheels with 20 series tyres, quite wide, the engine was as sweet as a nut, big "Greedy" turbo and big oil cooler and a big FMIC, there was also a nitro injection connection, it had a stage 2 street clutch. I drove down in my big Merc estate which hits 130 on a good day and on the M6 toll i gave it welly, just to see Jack, my grandson shoot passed me, what a noise, and so stable, the BHP at the wheels is 360, it has one degree negative camber, and "Conie" shocks and lightened other suspension etc. We filled the back of my Merc estate with a completely rebuilt engine, new fuel pump, new oil pump, new head gasket, new ECU, the list goes on, this car and spares was a real steal, i actually felt a bit embarast, the guy was a Mechanic of 20 years and was desprate for some cash, he said he was glad to see his baby go to a good home and we would keep in touch. A good day out. Herbie. 20160517_142138.jpg (196.4 KB) 20160517_135152.jpg (192.3 KB) 20160514_231336.jpg (207.0 KB)
  10. Hi Guys, & and may be, the odd Girl, why not ? Had a new "Tracker" system fitted today, the original one was 16 years old, i rang them last week and asked them where my car was?, they said we will ring you back in 30 minutes, they did, and as predicted they said, we do not know, your "Tracker" is now obsolete ! ! ! I said, what if it had been stolen? no response. Anyway the new one is in now with the latest technology, £288, and they will continue to honor my life time membership on the annual licence fee. I am with Adrian Flux and have been for 20 years, so the "Tracker" is a big hit for them. Can you believe the well experienced engineer could not locate the old Tracker unit, i tried to help him and nearly every removable panel was removed, eventually he decided to just start from scratch and leave the original system alone. You have to say this is a credit to the Tracker company, as avoiding theives finding the unit was a key part of their claims for reliability. The new system works on VHF signalling and is tied in with all UK police forces, also every 30 days the activation is checked, to ensure all is working. The new unit, like the old one, alerts the control centre if you for example go on a ferry, like i do to the Isle Of Man, the movement sensor activates if the car is moving without the engine running, in the past i had phone calls on the ferry, or if i was having tyres fitted etc. Finally, why in the first place did i have a tracker fitted ? well i got my car stolen, right out of the grounds my house, my brother and i bought the two Supras new, both black, his tt auto and mine na manual, they were parked side by side and we were watching a Manchester United game, we could not see where the cars were parked, but my wife could see them, if she was looking, however, the thieves knocked the barrel lock out of the passenger door and then sheared the steering lock pin, then pushed the car out of my grounds and took off ! ! ! At half time my wife came into the lounge and asked me where is our credit card, i said it is in the Supra, she replied, no, your Supra is not there? I then used the "F" word and rushed out, we jumped in my brother's tt and shot down all the prospective lanes, but to know avail. The car was gone for two weeks and i thought i would never see it again, guys i knock around with said, it's either broken don for spare parts or in a container bound for Australia. I was well pissed off, big time. Then the phone rang, and it was the Chief Constable of Manchester Police, Lill King, i knew her, as two years previously she bought a Porsche 911 off me. She gave me a bollocking as i had Isle of Man plates on the car, which made it difficult to trace, it was abandoned at Manchester Airport area, and everything that could be removed, was removed, it was away for two months and cost the insurance company £7,000, this occured back in 1998. So it is a long story, BUT it is why i want a "Tracker" fitted. Herbie.
  11. I know the rules are the rules etc, but if you look at "the big picture" and compare any mk4 Supras, for polluting the atmosphere, and the miles they cover etc, then this reminds me of the pollution laws they introduced in Blackpool where they were pumping tons of sewage into the sea, BUT you could be arrested for peeing out of your small fishing boat. lol. Herbie.
  12. Yes we need some pics, but the values from ripped and jz are more realistic. Herbie.
  13. Hi ashloys, No way i have three already, and at least two of them are a pain in the arse.Herbie.
  14. No it's the 350 bhp with greedy turbo and a switch over on the two maps for 95 and 99 ron fuel, stacks of spare parts including the original bonnet, current one is light weight, the list of goodies fitted is endless. Herbie.
  15. Hi Shane, many thanks for the post it is good info, going to pick the car up in Northampton on Tuesday, the guy has a garage, "Riverside Trucks" in Gladstone Close.Herbie. Hi np89, Yes a different one the one in question does not drive. Herbie.
  16. Yes, Just buying this for my grandson, it is white, looks fantastic and is up to 350 BHP, and four wheel dive. I have another 100 BHP on my Supra, BUT in the rural roads i think i would be left for dead. The Subaru is 1995, but is immaculate and has had thousands spent on it. I think this breed is the alternative to what we eyedelise, it cannot match the supra in aesthetics, IMHO, but with the four wheel drive etc, i think it would leave us for dead on country roads ? So what are other member's opinions on the Subaru. ? Herbie.
  17. I do not know what the condition of your car is, but i know that the Supra is growing in popularity and price, across the world. The production has stopped, there are no more ! !. So due to the timeless looks of this car, and its tuning potential, (1,000. BHP), etc, then you need to look beyond the uninitiated sale prices in the UK, and look at the "big picture", be patient, and ask a good price at least £8K for your offering. Dealers will not like my advise, for obviouse reasons. lol. Good luck if you put it up for sale, but keep up the real value standards for all the club owners. Herbie.
  18. When you go out and drive across the country, how many Supras do you see ? not many, but the attention they draw is growing, not just here in the UK. If you have a good one, then go for it, this brings you more money, and enhances the market price for all of us. There are no more being made. ! ! and what other cars can be tuned to mega BHP, and still look like a timeless shape, few companies have acheived this like Aston Martin, cars which cost £100K +. I do not understand why so many members price there cars so low ? they are not looking at the longer term. Herbie.
  19. I am not Irish but come over there a lot. north west 200 etc, BUT what does your post mean ? Herbie.
  20. Hi Guys, For a few months, post my NA/T conversion i have been apprehensive about the emissions in the MOT test. I took the trouble of making sure my local garage where i take all my cars was familiar with the "default values" for non listed cars, pre 1996, which is max 3% CO2 and 1,200 ppm CO. My car turned out to be right on the limit, but they passed it, what a relief, as i had a back up plan of fitting a down stream CAT fitted, costing circa £300, as well as how much performance would i lose, and would i have to go back to my mapper etc. Some weeks after the MOT was carried out i had a chat with the garage owner, who is basically a friend of mine, he knows i would never ask any favours of him as he is quite strict on things etc and that is why i trust him, but he told me, without me asking, that the car was right on the limit and on another day it could be just under the limit, or just over, he gave me the benefit of the doubt, he knows from the past dozen MOT's i only do 2,000 miles PA in a rural environment, so he does have the "greens" at heart. Anyway, guess where i am having my MOT carried out next year. lol. Herbie.
  21. Wow, what a thread, enjoyed it. Your a bit like Jamie Oliver on cooking stuff, it's different and infectciouse, you have really uplifted the club offerings. I have the XS conversion, carried out by a real pro, i decided against DIY as the mapping is so critical for performance, reliability, economy, and longevity of your engine. I am totaly de-catted and was concerned about my recent MOT on emmisions, it was border line on the "default values", ( max 3%. CO2. and 1,200ppm. CO), i did not want to have to fit a free flow downstream CAT, £300 ish fitted, and the possibility of a trip to the mapper. However i slipped up on the choice of clutch, the stage 4 was a joke, either in or out, it was undriveable, had to go to the stage 2 street clutch, it drives like stock and no slipping at 450 bhp. Basically i bought my car from new, stock na manual with LSD, 230 bhp, so now i have a new car for shelling out £4.5K, but it is fantastic, if you are doing a "oner" you can put your foot down, and to date, nothing keeps up with you, awesome. Over the past ten years many club members have developed the possible tuning for these, well before there time cars, and they are great, and an appreciating asset. Good luck with your long determined project and the way you have entertainingly shared it with all the members. Herbie.
  22. My grandson indulged in this "S--H--1--T, from the age of 14, he is now brain damaged, a "scitso", he is tall and handsome, and very clever, bit like "rain man", BUT no job, on "respiradrone" injections every four weeks, to stop the voices etc, so, so sad, and his father, who lives in LA, in the states, still thinks this crap is more safe then alcohol. There are people who need it, because they are ill and in pain etc, but IMHO to use it for a high and escapeism, is pathetic. I think your thread is good, as it gives people like me the opportunity to say what this stuff, and the weekend highs, made in China, really are, so, so, sad. ! ! Herbie.
  23. Your asking price IMHO was far too low, you should have been asking nearer the £6K mark. Cars like yours are getting few and far between, it's a world market for them, not sure why you were asking such a "give away" price. ? Herbie.
  24. Hi Everyone, I have a stock NA complete air intake system including the MAF (mass air flow) sensor, new filter etc. No pics at this stage, just seeing if any members are interested? I am asking this as many seem to be reverting to the "stock" set ups as the value of these cars are growing rapidly. Herbie.
