  1. The first couple of iterations of the Supra were little more than Celicas with bigger engines and slightly different bodgwork. I guess the new Supra does a similar thing but with a different brands car. Its actually growing on me quite a lot, though a new set of wheels and some custom interior bits would be necessary for me. Seems to be getting some very good reviews on its handling, and im sure the straight line performance is more than adequate for our roads.
  2. Some designs could offer greater resistance and poorer flow than others, which would generate much more heat in the manifold. Presumably increasing the diameter and reducing the angle of the downpipe after the turbo would also net a reduction in EGT, further decreasing engine bay temps? You would also gain a faster spooling turbo and a little more power I would have thought.
  3. Do you still have a full set of these?
  4. Not all R design cars have the 'sports chassis' susp3nsion setup, and some non R designs do. There isnt much difference, although the ride is noyiceably harsher, and getting the sports chassis cars onto ramps/lifts is a chew.
  5. A d5 C30 is a rapid little car, mid range punch is fantastic, and sounds lovely for a diesel. I have the same engine in my daily, a P2 S60 D5, but mine is the Euro 3, one of the best diesel engines ever.
  6. Paddleshifters, cruise control, heated Recaro seats, stereo, new exterior lights, brand new brake calipers (makes the car look much newer), BBS RGR wheels, cuatomised tiptronic shifter surround, Toucan display
  7. Seem to remember (though maybe incorrectly) the Trial Supra went to Europe. What ever happened to Jevansio's black single turbo car?
  8. Presumably its being MOTd by the importer? Things I would check: Obvious damage and poor repairs (masking lines near windows are an indicator) Wipers All lights / mirrors (is power) Air con Seat belts All other interior functions All fluid levels, filters and condition Check engine bay for leaks and visual damage Check aux belt Remove plastic plug cover - check condition of plugs and cam belt Crank pulley damper rubber Engine and transmission mounts (facelift mounts fail) Get it up on a ramp, inspect brakes, wheels/tyres, suspension, wheel bearings etc. Tyre wear should indicate any serious alignment and tracking issues. Check all lines, transmission and lower engine area for leaks and damage. Check battery and starter function on startup, and look for any exhaust smoke. Make sure the car engages gear and pulls away smoothly. Listen for any unusual sounds, steering pulling, vibrations through the wheel or car etc. Check gauges, ensure car is boosting correctly if its a turbo. Consider taking a friendly mechanic if you're not 100% on the things you should be looking for.
  9. Can anyone recommend a part time traders policy provider? Used to have one a few years ago but can't remember who with. Just to insure a few of my own cars on, and various side jobs I'm doing. Cheers
  10. A BMW 6 speed manual box should bolt straight tk the engine in the mk5, and I suspect there will be various bolt on diff options. Some ecu work will probably be needed, but doing a manual swap on a mk5 should be relatively easy.
  11. There are very few production cars which can not be improved upon in the sound department with the right exhaust / intake setup The MKIV Supra sounds pretty gutless as it left the factory.
  12. at 3.43 you get a bit of the cars soundtrack, sounds like it has some great potential with a few aftermarket goodies
  13. While I never thought the FT1 would become the 'new Supra', Toyota should have built a limited run of them, preferably with the V10 from the LFA
  14. This is what I dont get about all the moaning about the new Supra not being a big, brash, GT. Toyota (Lexus) already offer you several options, the LC and the RC. Why would they build another halo model which would compete with cars they already produce? (BTW, the LC is )
  15. You should ask to borrow one while at the ring, given the numbwr of views your videos must have amassed I wouldn't be surprised if they went for it.
  16. VAT alone wont be far off £10k, and id imagine they built in a premium to reflect number of sales, and RHD (the vast majority will be LHD).
  17. Not quite sure what I think of the finished product, looks wise. Some details arent great (the aforementioned wing vents, the bootlid/ducktail monstrosity from the rear), but head on, and rear quarter view looks fantastic. Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh, plus J suspect the reveal on monday with people stood near it will make the proportions easier to gauge.
  18. And id prefer another straighf 6 sports car/ GT, as so few are made now, while plenty of manufacturers produce v6 engines cars.
  19. And in the process, went from one of the best sounding turbocharged 6 cylinder motors ever (the RB26), to one of the worst (vr38) Ultimately it would have just been a rebadegd lexus, so why not a rebadged BMW?
  20. Designing a new engine and transmission etc would have cost a fortune. They could have based it on an existing toyota V6, but then it wouldnt be a Supra.
  21. Another very clean one heading to auction soon https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/am19/amelia-island/lots/r0030-1994-toyota-supra/733359
  22. If it had been a rare desireable colour hardtop (like IJM, DJG, RSP, MSB etc), i think we'd be looking at $150k+
  23. I would consider going a little beyond basic BPU to be honest. Install one of the ECUs I recommended earlier, as even at bpu, you will see enormous benefits. Much safer for the engine (fuelling, boost, spark all controlled and monitored, and oil pressure monitored), multiple performance maps, traction control etc. And if you decide to go single in the future, the groundwork is already there. Also, you should make a little bit more power, but you will make the torque and power curves much better with a custom map than with 'signal fudging' the stock setup. [
