  1. Really can't be doing with more snow. I spent my week holiday in Sheffield and was snowed in. Came back to Cambridge today and do not want to see any more of it!!! http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/albums/misc2/IMG_4456.sized.jpg
  2. Could be to do with distribution - they have to make a lot of CDs so roll it out in stages. Also, it's quite a lot of work to convert a game between differing TV systems (it will be NTSC to PAL in this case). I actually did this in my previous job (on a much smaller game) and it took a while.
  3. Wouldn't have thought so, HIDs are a lower wattage than normal bulbs (about 35w I think).
  4. hehe. We do a lot more ECUs than just listed on the website, but some are for specific customers. I've done quite a lot of scooby/evo stuff. I did actually think about the possibility of running a T6 on my car but it would be quite a lot of work and there would be a lot to do for stuff like autobox control. Would be cool though
  5. I should probably mention I write much of the embedded software for Pectel ECUs They are mostly (but not exclusively) used on race cars. The T10S is used on the Jaguar (now Red Bull) F1 car, and the Ford WRC car. It costs a bit more than most people's Supras on here, so I'd consider it a *little* bit over the top for the Supra
  6. michael, your interior must be disgusting what with that zebra trapped inside
  7. which ones? the black spoked ones or mine?
  8. I really wasn't bothered about red at first but it looks fantastic when it's clean. I'd have a black supra in preference to mine, but not a silver one as they don't go shiny enough! http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/albums/supra/IMG_3599.sized.jpg http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/albums/supra/IMG_4087.sized.jpg
  9. :D Number plates in the UK are a total rip-off. My mate that i work with comes from New Zealand and he bought 5UTOJ (which is "Lotus" backwards) and it cost the equivalent of 80 quid. You can basically have any five characters you like for that price as long as it hasn't already been taken.
  10. I see I guess you probably want to do a flood fill so you can try the colours out. Your paint program will have some sort of option to fill in an area within a certain tolerance (its the magic wand in photoshop). You don't want to turn it to 1 bit greyscale (only black and white pixels) as any tiny little gaps will mean you can't fill in the area without the colour escaping!
  11. Why do you need that? If you actually had dials made up from such a small image, it would be horribly blurry.
  12. I might be wrong about this, but I think if you're in gear then the engine is forceably kept going as the car is moving - so no fuel is required. But if you put it into neutral then fuel will be used to stop the engine from stalling.

  14. My boost controller has a peak boost display, and once I managed an entire journey without making +ve boost. Was quite pleased with myself Okay, so it was only a mile and it was in traffic...
  15. Thought I'd post this as it's mildly amusing at the moment. At xmas I set up a webcam on a web page and wrote some software to do motion detection on the captured images. It puts a green lines around things that move from frame to frame. If there is sufficient movement then it stores the image and puts it around the edge of the web page. I've now got it pointed at a convervatory that's being built just opposite me. You can see the workmen climbing on it right now Think my HID headlights are on it too if you're quick! Conditions of use: 1. Please don't hammer my bandwidth as I'm hosting it at home (on an xbox!) 2. Please don't quote this post as I'll probably delete the link later. http://mylaptop.hopto.org/ James.
  16. Is this video anywhere on the internet? I've never seen it.
  17. I wouldn't go for graphics personally, but they can look good if you get it right! My mate Dave designed some dragon graphics himself and it was actually sprayed on his FTO (it had a respray at the same time) instead of it being just stuck on. http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/fto/dragon2.jpg

    Supra LSD

I've been to a few drifting events in my 200sx, but haven't done any proper drifting in the supra. My supra is an auto anyway which might be tricky. Having said that, I think the supra handles fantastically. I'm comfortable with flicking the back out - in fact most journeys and it's always really controllable. It's actually a lot easier to get the rear to lose traction compared with my 200sx as there so much low down grunt and not a hint of understeer. Didn't know the Torsen LSD was bad. The little I've read about it all seems positive. I would have thought it's a lot better than a viscous diff. Haven't tried keeping the power on long enough on mine to see what happens. Have you got some links to the torsen stuff you read?

    Power cuts?

The power in my village is a joke. Last year we couldn't go more than a few days without a cut. I don't even bother setting the clocks in my house anymore. One of them fried my wireless router too It's been better recently - I know this as I can check the uptime on my xbox. It managed 55 days until another cut last week
  20. if you don't put the handbrake on hard enough then it still might roll forwards given a tap from the rear.
  21. One argument for putting the gearbox in neutral when stopped, is that if someone runs into the back of you, you won't roll forwards as far if the impact jolted your foot off the brake (or the clutch on a manual). I'd consider not rolling into oncoming traffic more important than the wear on the gearbox.
  22. That shouldn't happen. The circumference of whatever tyres you put on should be roughly the same. What profile and width are your 18" wheels?
