  1. Yeah, they do make a slight ticking at a fixed frequency as the solenoid pulses on and off. It only operates above a certain boost pressure which is why you don't hear it all the time. If it's making a knocking sound, maybe it's not fixed down properly and vibrating against the bodywork? I used to be able to just hear mine at low revs, but not since I got a nur spec James.

It's not that confusing, honest! Overdrive is just another name for 4th gear. So with overdrive off (light on), it won't change up into 4th gear. Obviously, higher gears are better for fuel consumption so leave overdrive on (light off) normally. James.
  3. Go out in the rain, stamp on the brakes and see if it kicks in. Try it in a car park if you don't want to try it on the road James.
  4. Depends how jerky it is. Perhaps it's misfiring? If so, some colder plugs could do the trick. James.
  5. Can't think of a reason why the ECU would require a reset. When at higher boost, it's just reading a different place in the fuel map. James.
  6. I went from a Mongoose to a Nur Spec R. No power difference at all. The Nur Spec replaced half of the Mongoose. So is your mate selling the whole exhaust or just half of it? Edited to say: If you remove both your cats, you'll notice a large increase in power. Well worth doing, although you'll probably have to take measures to prevent boost creep (such as fitting a restrictor ring in the exhaust). James.
  7. I've used TomTom 2 and 3 and never been lost since I got it. It's even good on a journey where you already know the way, as it tells you at what time you'll arrive (though when I'm in the supra, I always get there earlier than it estimates, for some reason ) And it tells you what direction is coming up, so you can overtake as many cars as possible before getting back into the correct lane The only bad point - they should have made an effort to get a sexier voice. She sounds a bit middle-aged Maybe that will be in TomTom 4. James.
  8. If you have a look at the back of your headlights, there's some screws you can turn to adjust the aim. On the internet somewhere there's an explanation of aligning them correctly by parking opposite a wall, and marking the height of the beam. Garages have the equipment to do it too. I think it's part of the MOT test. I haven't adjusted my headlights, and my HIDs shine a long way but it passed the MOT fine yesterday (with cats out too!) James.
  9. My car just has an ordinary Toyota key yet I still have the mystery box. I suppose the keys could have been replaced when it had an aftermarket alarm fitted (before I bought the car). edited to say: I wonder who has the record for the longest running thread James.
  10. I have a roll cage in my 200sx and it's "functional" rather than "cool". If you're thinking of some shiny polished monstrosity, then remember you need to have padding on anything you could conceivably whack your head against if you had an accident. If you are planning on using your supra heavily for track use then it's a good idea though. My insurance only went up by about 60 quid for coilovers and the roll cage. James.
  11. You can remove them using the instructions here: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73438 It's possible to change their height but it would require cutting an additional notch in each metal peg. James.
  12. Rich, Max Power photos here. There's some car pictures if you look closely http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/gallery/maxpower2004 James.
  13. Never mind. Next time. Big turbos are more important If you had come, we would have still been there though James.

    Hello

Hello and welcome. Glad to see you have such an unshellfish attitude. James.
  15. Can't think of a reason why that would cause undue wear. It's got to be less than the huge change in torque put through it when the second turbo kicks in Be careful shifting to 1st though (especially in the wet) in case you spin your rear wheels. James.
  16. hehehe. Dave, I did my first drifting session on Saturday which was awesome. I'm still rubbish at it so won't be entering any competitions for a looooong time. The car held up very well though. James.
  17. Just got in and read this. So gutted for you mate. Just glad you weren't badly hurt, and hopefully the insurance should be straightforward. James.

    One off?

I think a zero fell down the page James.
  19. I thought it's the case for the MOT that you can't replace an airbag steering wheel with one without an airbag. Is that right? If so, you'd still get away with it for the MOT, as there's no way to tell if the previous steering wheel had an airbag - unless an airbag light was on James.
  20. Well that's definitely a mod, but I wouldn't have thought whether the old steering wheel had an airbag or not would be of interest to the insurance company. I expect it would be of interest to your MOT tester though, if you didn't get rid of the airbag light. James.
  21. Looks very nice! I remember seeing the ad for this on the Newera website. Are you going to be at Billing on the 25th? James.
  22. Well, you could just get a Nurspec R. I doubt you'd hear any road noise with that on Seriously though, I think someone posted here recently about some stuff that you can apply to the insides of your panels to reduce road noise. It was like Dynamat but loads thicker and heavier. James.
  23. ah ha. probably not that then I just remember when I didn't connect mine up, the hazards went on and the indicators didn't work. James.
  24. I vaguely remember something similar happens if the hazard light switch isn't plugged in properly behind the dashboard. Has the dash been off recently? James.
