  1. Other than the soothing sounds of "demist"... 1. Scissor Sisters 2. Gwen Stefani 3. Shakira and *not* that bloody Band Aid song. James.
  2. The first letter is the Tein logo, which is a T. Exciting, eh?
  3. Don't know which they are, but probably *much* stiffer. The super street dampers are spine-crunchingly stiff, even when set to the softer settings. They are great, but I definitely wouldn't have them on my supra. CJ, aren't yours the EDFC adjustable ones? James.
  4. By the way, the funny red button by the gear stick is the supra equivalent of the flux capacitor. Press it and you get transported back to 1985. This will require you to deal with the severe ramifications of time travel which outweigh even the risk of boiling your transmission fluid. ... okay, so its secondary purpose is to allow you to move out of Park with the ignition off. Useful when you're taking the dash panel off and the gear stick is in the way
  5. Powerbrake it. Stick it in D, foot on the brake, give it a little gas (maybe up to about 2000rpm?), then simultaneously floor it and release the brake. Keep the length of time you are applying both pedals as short as possible, or you can boil your transmission fluid and it really won't do your gearbox much good anyway. Maybe using Manu mode would help a little too, although I never bother. James.
  6. Looks pretty similar to the ones on my Nissan, which are Tein super street dampers. Oh yeah, plus in the picture it says "Tein" in big letters on the spring
  7. Didn't think it produced that much. Nothing compared to a good curry anyway It's finished charging and there's no new craters in Cambridge so looks like I got away with it. James.
  8. Cheers Dave. I thought it looked pretty new. I didn't drive the car for a week and have been doing short journeys which is why it was flat. Bought a decent charger (30A fuse versus 5A fuse of the old one) and it's charging fine in the kitchen now James.
  9. The battery in my nissan is dead after I didn't drive it for a few days. I borrowed a battery charger and brought the battery indoors to give it a decent charge. Problem is as soon as I turn on the battery charger (it's an el-cheapo one) it blows the fuse within a couple of seconds. Should I buy a decent battery charger, or might that do the same thing? The battery doesn't look all that old. James.
  10. Here's a question I've been wondering about... If a small turbo and a large turbo on identical engines both produce identical maximum boost pressure, will that result in the engines having identical maximum horse power? The only reason I can think this would not be true is if the small turbo was outside its efficiency range and heated the air charge more than the large turbo. The reason I ask is that a few people have mentioned running their single turbos at stock-level boost and report that the car feels a lot faster. Just wondered why that is. James.
  11. Why do you say that? I would have thought that producing a higher boost pressure and running the turbo faster and hotter would wear it more quickly and reduce its life expectancy. James.
  12. yeah, sorry to hear about your turbos blowing. I remember replying to your boost controller post just before you decatted. Sounds like you've been quite unlucky if you really did only go up to 1.2 bar. My car's been running that for two years and it's been fine. James.
  13. I'm waiting for the flood of people saying they've just locked themselves out after trying it... James.
  14. Don't all cars do this?! James.
  15. http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/techo.htm#ENGINE_CODES By the way I used to work in Gateshead James.
  16. First of all, I'd be concerned about what the red warning means when you boot it. I had a TRL VFCC fitted, and it stopped the red light and the fuel cut. Do a diagnostics check and see what code is reported. I have that boost controller and it's quite easy to set up, even if the interface is a bit weird. Don't mess about with it at all until you've read the *whole* of this: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/9589/dsbc_manual.html Then start off with low settings and make small adjustments until you're happy. James.
  17. 5 seconds!!! It's not "burn-out" mode James.
  18. All it means is that the traction control has activated. If the light flashes it's a temporary activation. If the light stays on, then it detected a larger slip so it decides to stay on and reduce power. As you've discovered, the light doesn't persist over an engine restart. You can also press the traction control button a couple of times to clear it, or if you briefly floor the throttle it seems to clear it too. James.
  19. Hi there. Welcome to the BBS. You've posted to the wrong section (Technical is the right one), but I expect a mod will move it. If you have the standard ECU, you can get the diagnostic code yourself. http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/techo.htm#ENGINE_CODES If it doesn't work, have a look at the ECU in the passenger footwell (behind the carpet) and see what you've got. James.
  20. Oh, you mean "de-handling" then edit: I've just noticed the supra in my avatar has that mod. And it's from the Toyota instruction manual - so it must be an official modification James.
  21. Sorry if I'm being stupid, but what exactly is "delocking"? It sounds like removing the locks entirely which might be good if you live on an empty desert island with only your supra for company, but not so good for London! So does it mean filling in and smoothing over the keyhole? I can't comprehend why anyone would do that. Surely the supra doesn't look much different without keyholes?! James.
  22. Red is one of the *easiest* colours to look after. My last car was white and it always looked filthy and was impossible to get a good shine on it. I reckon black is probably the best supra colour, but you really do have to clean and polish it often. Red can be nearly as shiny, but it doesn't show the dirt as much. Mine still looks great after a quick wash and everyone thinks I spend hours waxing it, which I don't James. http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/misc/supra_back.jpg http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/misc/supra_side.jpg
  23. Can someone video it? ITV Anglia, in their wisdom, are showing "Ghostly Tales of the Unexpected" at that time. James.
  24. It sounds like you lot have been more successful at driving in snow than I have! At the beginning of this year, there was less than an inch of snow on the ground and I couldn't get off my driveway. Another time I parked in a field. The grass was dry but I parked on a very slight incline. End result - completely churned up the grass and had to round up a load of people to push me out. Not only that, but I even managed to get stuck in a gravel driveway and that's with standard 17" tyres. So my supe will stay safely on the drive when it snows James.
