The Zed featured was a SWB I think? I must say I came over all nostalgic...I thought it still looked great on the road especially in red with some decent wheels and it still had some grunt in the 0-60-0. For £1500 that is a great buy (although they have now trashed it!). Still love them even though the Sup is a step above.

I've had FK452's on the front for a while - not that impressed to be honest. Went 'off' quite quick on the track and tramline noticeably more than the old Eagle F1's (sadly now discontinued). Might try the asymetrics on the front as well next time but the Falkens are wearing quite well I suppose, still loads of tread after 8K miles.

what bhp supra would be needed to be ...............
Alex C replied to scoooby slayer's topic in Supra Chat
Heres an example of a strong BPU Supra ~400 genuine (i.e. not 'cossie')bhp!* Not far away I'd say. Anything 450+ would be quicker than the posted vid. *No offense to you in particular, just been around a lot of '400 brake' Cosworths! -
I'll join in on this one...why has diesel suddenly now been cuaght up by petrol? A few months back there was at least 5p, sometimes 8p per litre difference between the two. Some new refining process? NO....diesel (I think) is a by product of producing petrol and in fact had no reason to be as high as petrol (5 years ago it was a lot less) until people started to by a new wave of refined and efficient diesel cars. Then suprise suprise the price rockets and overtakes petrol to a level where its a toss up between the two fuel types as to getting your money back through fuel economy. Now suddenly petrol catches up....complete shower of bastards the lot of them, do they not realise that increases in fuel make nearly everything else transported around the country go up as well. Where are the regulators on this one...same place as the parliment expenses office employees no doubt. I hate this country.

UK auto, 111K now and still running like a dream. 60K+ miles at BPU...testament to good service history imo.

The F clubsport is a different beast altogether compared to the C12S nigh on 100bhp extra and improved chassis etc. I think they were £700-800K list price. In fact I think the C12S list was about £300K so I would bet that the previous owner has lost little or no money on it. Even in today's market they are one of the most sought after supercars out there...awesome machines.

Would you guys be interested in A3 prints of your cars?
Alex C replied to supra_aero's topic in Supra Chat
I'd have one of them for sure, already have some Hi-Res photos... -
Thanks for the help all, it was indeed the top rad pipe clamp which appeared tight but wasn't - removed it and re-fitted early yesterday morning and made it to the pod and back 300 miles no problem.
-
There is a bit of water on one of the pump bolts but it could well be from above - the undertray has a bit of water laying on it looking from inside the bay. Having been out it seems like there is a very slight hiss from that connection as the car is cooling (top rad pipe 3rd pic down in my first post). Also it looks like the clamp is a little far out to the right so will re-fit it in the morning and give it a go, thanks for the help. Temp & drive of the car is fine so hopefully its nothing too bad!
-
Thanks guys, had a quick check of the pipes and they seem OK but will look again. I'm a bit worried its the water pump...
-
Had my cambelt changed a few weeks back - when I got home to check the coolant level, I noticed all the new red coolant splashed around the engine but had assumed that it was from the removal of pipes when it was flushed earlier. I cleaned it off and topped up the level and though no more of it. I've just popped the bonnet to check things over ready to go to the pod tomorrow however and been confronted with this... Obviously there is a leak somewhere and its being fired about by the fan - what could cause this having had the cambelt done...everything was fine before hand I'm extremely pissed off as I've just cleaned the car ready for an early start and now this. The car has used emptied its expansion tank in about 200 miles - I could top it up no problem but not sure how far to risk driving like this - bit worried once things start they can get worse very quickly.

Just watched it...its was total pants. Then again in objective terms so was the first film but at least it had some enjoyable bits...this one just didn't.

Been a bit busy last few days but just wanted to say thanks to Dude & Matt at AFR tuning for looking after my Supra last week. Had a few jobs done like new cambelt, full wheel alignment, compression & leak-down test and an oil & filter change. Great attention to detail and a very reasonable bill all things considered. Can thoroughly recommend the guys for all things Supra and it was worth the long drive down for some good advice on what I could do next with the car. Cheers Alex

IF I sold, probably around the £8.5k region (devastating a loss as that is in 2 years). It certainly won't be one of the cheap autos you see for sale these days but you get what you pay for imo. I think the wheels are still £900 each without tyres at in demon Tweeks catalogue! Still interested in what it would be to manual swap though...
-
I'm a bit bored of my auto, good as it is and can't help thinking that the extra transmission loss dents the best efforts of BPU+ Whats the latest consensus on Auto to manual swaps (this would be UK spec auto to V160/161)...are we still talking upwards of £4K or can it be done for less now by more experienced traders? I take it if you add up this list even from Nic or Whifbitz it comes to considerably more than that if new parts are used? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=48242&d=1165577462 Last time I looked into it the availability of the box was the biggest issue, then after that is was finding someone who could do the job (clutch, pedals, transmission tunnel changes etc). I'm in two minds as I'd love to stick with my car after all the effort various owners have put into it cosmetically & with maintenance but I might be better selling up completely and BPUing a later model J-Spec 6 speed. Or buy an R33 GTR!

Got it now mate thanks for sorting it so quick. Alex.

If it helps, I have one of these as a daily drive and my average is about 28mpg through town, seen nearly 40mpg on a long mway run

I hate to say it chaps but this event last year did untold damage to my car despite me being one of the few who covered at least some of the front end with tape (which the chips went right through). I was (and still am) devastated when the adrenaline was replaced by that slow sinking feeling of damage to your pride and joy. I spent £1000 on a front end respray including bonnet, bumper & wings and I still have some chips in my headlights, windscreen, door mirrors and even rear quarter panels. My damage was mainly caused by being directly behind somebody for 1-2 seconds at 150mph but I was having so much fun that I did not have all of my admittedly limited brainpower going into stone chip avoidance (and if you do you will reduce your fun on the day imo). By a wonderful 1 in 10000 chance, a week after my respray I was pebble dashed by a VW Touareg on the motorway going over some stones left by recent roadworks which once again ruined my nice fresh paint and has left my Sup less than perfect hence I have a special chip on my shoulder about this! I know I am not the only one to pay the price at Marham and I also know that others have been and come away with barely a new chip to be seen but I think it is right to make others aware of the risk particularly if you take pride in your cars paintwork. If however you can either accept this risk or think you can drive around it (you can as many proved on the day) then the Marham experience is still a wonderful thing and one of the safest ways to exploit the long legs of the Supra. Just make sure you start the day with a full tank of fuel as I saw 5.6 mpg and 3/4 of a tank was not enough:blink:

Hi mate, yes that was me. The horn really is quite pathetic isn't it:rolleyes: I'd just got back from the airport without picking up my runabout from work but was dying for a chinese so had to take the Sup out in less than favourable conditions to my fav place in Boughton. It was nice & clean...now not so much. Nice motor yours

Not a major bump but its scuffed my bumper not deformed & it looks OK.. Pain in the backside that I didn't need though:rolleyes:
-
Due to a minor bump, I will be needing a passenger side rear Veilside spat. As I will be going through the insurance at the third party's expense, could any trader who can help please e-mail / pm me their details so I can pass them on to the repairers. They will then contact you for prices in due course. Thanks Alex.
