  1. heheh could have helped you sooner but I only just saw the thread.... glad to be of assistance and putting you out of your misery. Why the interest anyway? I remember seeing it at the cinema when it came out, vaguely remember it was alright
  2. I do vaguely remember "my little eye", a film about filming people trapped in a house, with web cams... might be it
  3. yeah if you even need to worry about petrol costs I'm not so sure the TT is a wise choice tbh...
  4. interesting, having read all that about how wonderful the auto really is, but also don't forget just how good the 6 speed manual is too, you should at least test drive a manual 6 speed as well as the auto. Having 6 well spaced gears is fantastic, and the driving experience is very involving and satisfying. Also getting good with the manual in terms of launching and shifting is a skill that is fun to acquire and very satisfying to have the topic of auto vs manual pros and cons has however been done to death, so no point repeating it here. just saying, as much as you should not dismiss the auto, don't dismiss the manual either. In fact you really can't dismiss either until you've tried them both and seen what you prefer. so I'd agree with what's been said before. Get a manual (as you seem to have a preference (like me)) j-spec (much easier to find, more availability = possibly cheaper) and spend your money wisely on any further upgrades you might want. At least you will be starting with the right base car
  5. I'll try and come along if the car is done and finished in time - I need to get some new tyres fitted.
  6. Sorry if this is a repost but I have searched. It's probably old, so some of you may have seen this already, but for those of you who haven't... You need to use headphones, this is a must, and then turn up the volume and sit back and relax - I promise you it's not one of those stupid screaming things, just a trick of the mind. Remember to put the Left plug in the left and the Right in the right or it will just be weird. http://david-heron.me.uk/blog/2007/04/08/virtual-barbershop/
  7. Just changed my battery for an hcb005 but the existing battery clamp on the car I think was non-standard, rigged up to hold the old battery which must have been shorter in hight, so the old bar was straight. Need the proper bar now, presume it has a bend in it and bends down to meet the front cross-menber thingy where it bolts on. anyone got a spare one, chromed preferably, new or good condition second hand.

    What Battery

cheers -- well I've just finally changed it over. Had to put new battery terminals on in the end, the existing ones where a bit too small and also crappy... anyway, job done but: the battery is slightly taller and the bar that was holding it in place now is too high up. What do people do with this, bend it? Not sure if my bar is non-standard biut it's pretty meaty to bend! is there a replacement battery clamp bar that will fit with this commonly fitted hcb005 battery?
  9. do have a gf, she would be ok probably, she said she understood either way. It would pay for a nice holiday later in the year amongst other things. thing is we had arranged to go away later in the year and I don't want it dragging on and messing up those plans. The problem at the moment is I don't know exactly when it would start, so it might not finish when we've planed to be away... I guess if I can find out some more details it would be easier It's only a temporary thing, but considering in the future I was considering contracting, this might be an interesting taster maybe. Just came with little notice to prepare myself lol
  10. At work they've offered a few of us the opportunity to work somewhere else, on a new project for approx 3 months. It's a bit too far to commute (about 2-3 hours away from me just north of b'ham) so they've offered us an incentive. Basically they figure was normal salary + £125 per day, for the 3 months. It would be all expenses paid (hotel, food, travel). So, it would mean staying away from home from probably late sunday night to late friday evening. what do you lot think? should I go for it? would you go for it?

    What Battery

I just bought an hcb005 too figured any battery with a 4 year replacement gaurantee must either be pretty good or I'll be getting a new battery in a 3-4 years time, either way I'm happy but whats that widget bit of pipe that comes with it, an L shaped piece. Is that meant to be fitted all the time or just for charging or maybe even topups. the hole in the top telling you its charged state is a cool feature just need to fit it now, might have another go tonight now I've worked out how to disable my alarm lol
  12. yeah this is a well known bitch of a job had I known they were stuck due to thread lock at the time I would have wacked a meaty soldering iron on them to soften up the glue. as it was I cut a big slot in the head with a hacksaw blade and used a big flat screwdriver, lots of brute force and ignorance and they come out eventually lol
  13. I think firstly don't you have to stop calling them choons lol, didn't that come and go in the 90's? yeah a lot of stuff will be white label / promo but most towns have a dj type shop, just become a regular and pick up the latest stuff that fits in with your style... at least you get to preview the stuff before buying it that way and can talk to like minded about what goes down well and what does not
  14. hey, this is an idea I've toyed with too. Keep us posted on what you come up with
  15. I agree, the Exige has always caught my attention. A good drivers car, I'd imagine that every drive could feel like a trip around the track lol however, my reservation is that on your typically bit of road (i.e. not your favourite twisty bit that you get to have fun and practice on day in day out) you could get shown up by a suped up shopping car or hot hatch, especially when the straights come up. Maybe an Exige with an engine swap would fit the bill. You have to go test drive these sorts of cars, I found the Elise a real bitch to get into / out of and rather uncomfortable/bland adn basic inside (I know that's what they are about, but there is a limit). how about (I can't believe I'm saying this) a 350Z as something sensible with some performance level still

    Projectors

that's pretty cool. We watched the exorcist on the side of the shed the other summer, on a nice warm evening but I think the neighbours thought we were nuts, with the sound fx and all!

    Projectors

I've had one for over 2 years now, a 3 panel lcd I wouldn't change it for the world (except to upgrade) normal tv's are so erm small I can get a 15-16 foot picture in the spare room, or watch a tiny 70" in the front room, very flexible and portable great for films and games alike use it all the time, still on the same bulb too!... Choose the model wisely, my bulbs can be had for £100 a time, which makes it much cheaper than a few trips to the cinema and I've watched hundreds of films on it... some projectors have really expensive bulbs though. and as for where to get them, I'd decide on the model first (maybe get a demo) then shop around online

    Red Supra On Fire

    omg that sounds bad
  19. well luckily I have a very solid concrete driveway already and it's nice and flat. That's why I was thinking, better (and nice looking perhaps) to get it covered in the bonded gravel than to have to dig it all up in order to put block paving in, obviously the block paving can't just go on top of the existing as the level would be too high, a tad above the ground level of the house probably lol. so if you already have a suitable surface, the bonded gravel makes a lot of sense - if not and you have to do all the groundwork first anyway I guess there is less between the too, but I still think block paving is pricey and would work out quite a lot more expensive.
  20. Do you know anyone that owes you a BIG favour? They could come with you, help you unload and then drive it back for you.
  21. This is resin bonding, not concrete. I have seen it recently on a house I pass on the way to work, but it could be relatively new for all I know! http://www.shmani.co.uk/resindriveways/index.htm This is the site I've been looking at.
  22. It looks nice. Neat and tidy. I'm just wondering how it will age really. The people that lay it aren't going to tell you that are they. I found it for about £14 per sq metre.
  23. We are thinking about having the driveway done [it's looking a bit messy after having to rip it up last year because of a burst water pipe] and I want something nice to park the Supra on! Has anyone had any experience with epoxy resin? It basically just looks like glued down gravel. I'd just like to know if it ages well, that sort of thing. Cheers.
  24. hmmm I like those what's that silver thing going on in the front recess under the indicator?
