  1. think yourself lucky, could have been worse! it's probably happened to most of us with low cars, these things happen sometimes, no point beating yourself up about it
  2. I know nothing about the law, but unless they have some evidence you were actually driving it then, surely they can't make it stick - especially if there is reasonable doubt that someone else could have been driving it? if the driver can't be named, I think the owner of the vehical gets done by default, iirc good luck anyway!
  3. tax free interest on the savings make a big difference, and they are cumulative if you dont touch the money, thats the thing...
  4. doing it over a span as short as 3 years may not be cost effective unless you pick the right mortgage lender that doesn't sting you with fees... that's the key. A 5 year plan might be more sensible. I looked at mine, approx 5 years in and it is worth a good 5th of the mortgage, it's nice to have that clear cut visibility of the money. It is like endowment but you don't trust the money to dodgy investers lol and can monitor and adjust it at every step of the way to be honest I'm no expert, I just have what works for me at the moment. the way I look at it, minimise your replayments per month/maximise what you can buy because the biggest win is to be a good way up the property ladder and cash in on the house price rises (or invest in multiple properties, I would of but I was not that brave at the time)
  5. you are borrowing a fixed amount, that amount stays still (i.e. it is not repayment). You have to pay interest on the loan to keep the loan amount... for me the flexibility was a big bonus + I can up the payments in the future if it is not on track. Like for like it made a cheaper mortgage per month + an isa set up in this way came with life insurance etc as well if the interest rates went crazy, I could put a freeze on paying into the isa, simiarly if I do well I can boost it up with additional payments. Works for me because the money in the isa really is cash I could take at any time (not that I probably would but who knows what the future may hold...), so it's a nice flexible setup
  6. sounds like you want to exactly what I have set up? I pay interest only on the mortgage loan I pay a set amount (adjustable) in an ISA (tax benifits) this plan is very flexible and at any time I could cash it in etc return on an ISA is better than the rates from a repayment mortgage + you get flexibility...
  7. lol, reminds me, I spent a good day taking a gearbox out once out on the street with nothing but some axle stands. Changed the clutch and put it all back in , job was just about done and then a socket fell in the hole where the clutch arm goes, into the bell housing - damn that was anoying lol there is always worse, just don't drop anything in the oil filler

    Vista OMG

I've heard nothing but bad stories about it, so I'm happy to swerve it for a while. What can it do (that's worth having) that you can't get from XP or linux? appart from crash a lot more lol
  10. lol i have a small telescope on a tripod in the conservatory pointing out through the glass, but every time i go out the moon has moved on
  11. it sure does look spooky now, the moon is being gobbled up!
  12. I've been out with the telescope, the moon has an erie shadow on the lower left portion, really uber clear night down here, amazing view!
  13. very true, if you can get there lol
  14. This map might help pinpoint areas with affected customers http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6407447.stm It may affect wide bands more, but not that many cars use widebands as standard oem afaik and the reports on the radio seemed to suggest regular cars were affected too
  15. No doubt you're right just when you look on this map http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6407447.stm one spot looks suspiciously like Lewes (Lewes Tescos no doubt) and the other like Eastbourne...
  16. Has anyone from here actually broken down because of this yet in their supra? If so where did you get the petrol? I still have the £30 in mine from last saturday in Lewes, I drove for about 20-30mins home (no problems) and havn't used the car since, Now I don't know if it is wise to go out in it? is there any way to tell? should I leave it running for a while on the driveway to be sure?
  17. Hi Chief Not aimed at you in any way. always an interesting subject this one! I would say that anyone is entitled to believe anything they wish, so long as it doesn't adversly affect others. Unfortunately nothing creates and promotes in-group favouritism and out-group hostility more than religion (imho). The way I look at it, atheism is not a religion anymore than not believing in say the tooth fairy. Atheism doesn't preach or tell you what scientific theories to believe in, at the expense of others - it just asks you to objectively consider the body of evidence before us (as we uncover it), over fictional ideals. Well worth reading the god delusion if anyone remotely thinks people gain morals from the bible (or equivalents). I'm a firm believer that most people _need_ something in their life to believe in, and for many god fills the hole - but just because you "believe" doesn't make it true. but you can't argue against someone with faith, that much is obvious by definition. Hence my ironic defence now is - I _believe_ in science and evolution - right back at you. It's my faith if you like, and how dare you criticise it, if you can be offended by my suspicion of religion and god, please observe the same respect with my personal opinions! anyway, I'm not entering a debate here, it's futile and pointless, just wanted to add my 2 penith for the moment and tune out. Whatever the case, I'm 100% none of us are even remotely close to the real truth and I think we all need to remember that sometimes.
  18. lol yeah but I still havn't lost the front (but I don't want to tempt fate)...
  19. bugger, I put £30 of tesco 99 ron in on Saturday, what are the chances I've got a bad batch? does it affect 99 ron, from 4 days ago? I ran for about 15 miles after and I didn't notice anything wrong... havn't used it since, should I be worried?
  20. hehe nice flow chart just finishing off reading The God Delusion, interesting read and it raises so many valid points, well worth a read
  21. Hello and welcome (give me a V)
  22. I think many would say mine is "too low" - tbh it can be hassle (and I might raise mine a little) but I don't use mine every day so I can live with it just about. For a daily practical driver going too low would be more hassle than it's worth
  23. hi Adam and welcome from a fellow sussex petrol head. If you see a very low black supra with shiney wheels around sussex, it might well be me
  24. I might be interested, if it can fit in with my full time job
