Hi guys, me and Marcus have been working on this behind the scenes. I have been busy with the home move/decorating etc, but alas, a plan was hatched and the event is still going ahead.

Westcoaster, sorry about the delay, but i'm sure your new offer will be just as fun :), have fun buddy.

Okay so here goes. This event will be changing from the original plan of Fri/Sat/Sun to now being held on Sat/Sun. This means that we will be away from home for the 1 night but 2 full days, with the action starting at 8.30am on Saturday.

You can see the route here:

Day One

We shall be setting our base as Dornie, which should give us a good point to travel to Applecross, but also will give us a good starting point, from where we can attack the second leg of the journey across to the Isle of Skye.

Day Two

Guys I was able to secure a discounted rate for a camp site in Dornie. It's a jae idea where you park on grass and pitch your tent next to it. They also have hard standing areas on the campsite which we can use if there are no caravans on it.

The plan is to stay here on Saturday night, for the discounted price of £5.50 per head. If you budgeted £50ish for accommodation this leaves lots for fuel! :)

The tent will be provided, free of charge. I'm looking at getting something that will fit 8 in it, but if you would prefer to bring your own or want me to source one for you it's also no problem.

All you will need it's a sleeping bag and possibly a roll mat they are pretty cheap out of any camping shop. I'm getting one on gum tree for £6 for example.

The campsite has a toilet and shower block which reviews describe as basic and clean.

A short walk from our base past the picturesque castle is the town of dornie where we can find somewhere to eat dinner that night. There is also a local pub where we can sink a couple of jars afterwards.

This time of year trying to get accommodation for all of us somewhere was tough, but this place looks really nice and is an ideal location to split the drive over 2 days.

As you can see, it's pretty scenic and right on the loch.

Can't wait for this. Cars going in for a fast road setup tomorrow and a service in prep. Should be fun embarrassing some supras on the b roads :D

Sounds good  take it you are talking about embarrassing us with your mpg? :D

Planning to do a service on Wednesday too for this. Car is also now running some CW fast road pads.

Good luck with the trip guys, looks like a great trip!

Watch out for potholes and broken edges to the tarmac on the single track sections and whilst I had no contact issues with my Supra in May this year, those with lowered cars or front lips with limited clearance will need to take some care.

The number of tourists that use the Beallach na Ba in camper vans can be ridiculous and few drivers seem to know the rules of the road on single track roads. Beware of the steep drop off on the verges, when re-surfacing the road, they tend to put more and more tarmac on, so the drop off to the verge can be 6" plus! Far better to reverse to a passing place than risk the side skirts or front lip being ripped off ;)

Enjoy the trip, the A87 is one of the best roads in Scotland with some fabulous fast sweeping bends and the best scenery around every bend.

Just remember to top up with super unleaded at the BP garage just after the Caol/Mallaig roundabout as you leave Fort William, incase there is very little of it out west of FW.
