  1. There are a fair few people that think 'profit' is a bad word. They hate the thought that people should be allowed to make profit. Yet, how many people work for free. Virtually everyones hard earned wages come from making a profit. Live and let live. Ho hum
  2. re-iterating my previous post. I'm a trader, but I trade in car audio, security and electronic installation. If someone wants to sell a set of wheels, theoretically, 'no-traders', means I'm not allowed to buy them. I don't class that as positive discrimination.
  3. Thanks for that Mr Big Pole I can't get him to come home as it is! I have a karate grading in September so I won't let Mr Harwood out to play if it's the same day Chantelle
  4. That means you have a hybrid Supra!
  5. LOL, sounds about right! I might go, but it's MILES away from me!
  6. Big twins can be even more laggier than singles. Effectively, you only have three exhaust ports to spool up each turbo, as opposed to six to the one turbo. If you don't like lag, a small single would be the way to go.
  7. The 'not selling to traders' is a bit daft really. What if Martin wanted to buy a stereo that someone is offering? - He's not a stereo trader... What if I want to buy a set of wheels? - I'm not a wheel trader...
  8. I agree. The aeros really can flex without the roof panel on, but they're a lot more solid with the roof panel in place, so they must be able to take a fair bit of stress.
  9. Has the throttle indicator started working too?
  10. Code 42 as I'm sure you know, is an incorrect/lack of speed signal input to the ECU. This explains why your cruise doesn't work. I would guess that you've upset either the pink or blue/red wire on the back of the odo. Obviously UK's don't have speed converters, so that's not going to be the problem. As for the D not illuminating, I'd suggest it's just good ole fashioned coincidence that the bulb has gone at the same time as your other problems.
  11. I have to say, in Pete's defence, I've fitted several of his units and I've only ever seen one faulty one. It does sound like Brian's had a pair of duff ones though. Strange.
  12. oops, yeah I know that, I meant open loop/hard written map
  13. AFAIK, closed loop kicks in at 4krpm, (I think it's actually 3800), or full throttle, and thats it... I stand to be corrected though
  14. I don't think so. I can get 1 bar of boost just before 4krpm, and the ECU still insists on being in closed loop. Although, I'm running an E-manage signal fudger so the ECU is probably only seeing about 0.6 bar, but it's still closed loop.
  15. Quoting what Matt told my sister when she was in a similar position-selling the car is a very short term solution to a financial problem. You then don't have the car you love and what if nothing changes and you end up moving back anyway (minus the Supe). I suppose it depends how bad things are and how many other options have been tried (e.g looking further afield but still within travelling distance for work). If you look at the other side, you could sell the car, re-train and buy another car. So I guess it's really down to what you feel is the best for you and I'm afraid only you can decide that. Chantelle (absolutely no help with people's problems at all !)
  16. I've done loads, but I'm in Maidstone. About 1 1/2 hours drive for you. Happy to help if needed though
  17. Did any other Supra's get to have a go on that dyno? I've had 298 rwhp and 348 rwhp from the same car on different dyno's. Both on stock turbos....
  18. You can't do that in a Supra. The boot light switch either turns it off completely, or switches it on to work when the tailgate is open.
  19. Whilst doing the above, make sure all the doors a properly shut and the keys out of the car. When you first re-connect the battery, I'd expect a few small surges as some of the ECU's come to life, (or maybe even large ones if you have an alarm on there), but after about a minute, you should have a nice low stable reading. Probably in the region of about 0.01 to 0.02 amps. this will fluctuate if an alarm or stereo has flashing led's
  20. There are a couple of places that to a lower gear won't help. The auto box is fantastic and will usually, initially out-run a manual but you can catch the auto-box out when it's too fast to change down, but too slow to be in the second turbo. IIRC these speeds are around 40mph and 80ish.
  21. It's the height that counts. They were talking about it on tv a week or so ago-so if your 10 year old is 4'5 or over they don't need a car seat. My 12 year old is now an inch taller than me (5'2) so I don't think he'd take kindly to sitting on a booster seat Chantelle
  22. Thanks for th plug Lewis! Mr Underworld, the Supra doesn't have an immobiliser built in as standard. There is definitely nothing in the key. The alarm you have, does it immobilise the car itself? - In theory, if you were to get out of the car and leave it for a few minutes, it should immobilise itself. If it does, it could well be a Thatcham approved model. If it doesn't, it won't be insurance approved. (with the exception of the shite Scorpion thing fitted as a dealer fit to UK cars). If you want to have a day out to Maidstone, I'm more than happy give it a look over and if it is, I can do you a certificate for it. Do you know what make it is?
