  1. Tickover doesn't sound excessively high. I'm not familiar with ARC filters, but there might be a visual way of telling if its clogged up. Someone more knowledgable than me may be along shortly.... Edit: ... like Ian C, for example!
  2. Obvious questions first, but worth asking just in case.... Has it been a gradual decline in MPG, or a sudden drop? If a sudden drop, have any mods/ servicing been done to the car at that time? What revs does the car tick over at? A clogged air filter could cause low MPG values...
  3. Do a search m8 : there's a thread somewhere that discusses re-colouring the carpet. Can't remember the keywords though. Maybe "carpet dye"
  4. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it! Toytown: if you have a wiring diagram handy, that would be great. Could you upload a link to it or something? I've got a speed sensor error on my supra, and I suspect the speed converter is at fault. Thanks very much! Steve
  5. Sorry to hear this Jake. I'm not technical enough to help any more, wish I could.
  6. Does anyone know if the speed converter is *always* plumbed into the No.1 speed sensor wire? Edit: Jake: I've had another good look around the ECU in the passenger footwell, and I couldn't find anything that looks like a speed converter. Thanks for the suggestion though. All help/ suggestions gratefully received!

    I got one

    Nice alloys! What are they?
  8. An update: me and Gav had a look around behind the speedo dials the other day, and found *something*. I don't know what the hell it is: at first we thought it was the speed converter, but now I'm not so sure. It's a black rubberised "thing", about 3 to 4 cm long, 2 cm wide, and very thin (maybe 2 or 3 mm thick) behind the speedo dial. It hangs free (not bolted to anything) apart from 4 wires coming from it. One of them's blue, which doesn't go anywhere (just left floating), and I think the others are white, green, (and can't remember the colour of the last one). I think the green wire's grounded via the screw at the back of the speedo dial, and the white one disappears into the speedo dial's guts. I'd post pictures of it, but don't have a digital camera or camera phone. I'll try to borrow one.... What makes me think it's not a speed converter is that is doesn't take any signal off of the no.1 speed sensor (red/blue wire with silver stripes), unless the white wire is the no.2 speed signal? I'd appreciate any help that anyone can suggest. My car's off the road until I can find the speed converter. Thanks in advance! Steve
  9. Aargh! I'm on holiday in mid July! Don't worry about it, if you're able to fix some dates up, I'll come if I'm around, if not then maybe next time... Cheers Gav
  10. Hi Nic, Definitely interested. My headunit that came with the car never did work properly (it causes feedback through the speakers). Not sure what model yet, but.... needs to be single-DIN, play CD-RWs, and MP3 compatible. Can you recommend anything? (no worries if you can't / don't have time). I have a Kenwood autochanger in the boot, but it's possibly too old to be compatible with new kit.
  11. Bummer. Sorry to hear that.
  12. Great idea Gav! I'm not feeling too flush at the moment, so I'm thinking the Standard course. I'm definitely interested! (depending on price). £66 sounds OK.
  13. He he! You caught me out there! I'll bring the beast round tonight and see what the odo's look like. Cheers Gav
  14. Hi all, Does anyone know if there are any differences between the electronic odometer units fitted to various models of supra (differences between manual and auto ones, mainly), or do they use the same odo units? TIA Steve
  15. Blimey! I didn't realise they were sometimes *that* small! Thanks for the info Jake. Is there a particular wire that they're always spliced into (e.g. direct feed wire from speed sensor 1)?
  16. Like it says in the title. My speedo reads up to 180MPH, so I'm pretty certain there should be a digital speed converter around somewhere. I've taken the passenger footwell carpet up and ECU protective panel off: nothing that looks like a DSC. I've got my dash and speedo/tacho dials off: nothing behind there that looks like a DSC, unless it's REALLY well hidden. There are two plastic boxes (orange and brown, if I remember correctly) on top of the head unit cage, but I remember reading somewhere that these are nothing to do with speed conversion. I assume I'm looking for a small-ish plastic box, maybe an inch or two thick. Is there a fool-proof way of finding the location of the DSC?
  17. Hello, and welcome, from another NA owner!
  18. Happy birthday! No more "30" jibes please, it's gonna happen to me very soon! Life begins at 30...... I'm ready!
  19. I quite like the 300zx's. Mechanically, IMHO I think you have to look them over more carefully than some cars, but fine if you get a good one. As always, I could be wrong about the mechanics.
  20. http://www.carfiche.com/fiche/jza80 ?
  21. Go on, I'll even supply the loaf!
  22. If they do, I bet they're awkward to change!
