    n/a mpg

You know your stuff Ian! Do you think that applies to NA engines as well?
  2. I think it's a single turbo'd GTE engine, in a NA aerotop shell, with LOTS AND LOTS of electronic toys fitted. Oh, and it'll be in a "distinctive" colour. Am I close?
  3. Oooh, you tease us Gav!

    n/a mpg

I get about 23mpg out of my NA, that's driving mostly like a grandad (flat cap is in the glove compartment!), with the occasional Heavy Right Foot on most journeys. That's also with a clogged air filter, and knackered spark plugs Not sure about the theory behind getting better MPG from a TT. If you stay off the boost, then possibly..... But with boost, it seems like getting something (i.e. better performance) for nothing (no extra fuel used, or even less fuel used), and something for nothing doesn't usually hold true, IMHO. Hope that helps a bit.
  5. Gearbox oil: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=30432&page=2&pp=15&highlight=Manual+Transmission+Specifications Diff oil: I'm sure it takes the same oil as the gerabox, but can't remember where I read it.
  6. Go for it weinelm, you got in there before me. If you don't want it, I'll take it. (if so, could you PM me Steve pls with directions and a good time for you. Er, that came out all wrong..)
  7. Hey, this gets better! Do I get a working supe with the exhuast as well? Anyone care to better that offer? And yes, I'm definitely interested! If only to rescue it from the tip! Are you around at the weekend?
  8. Hey, I might be interested in it. I was recently told mine is starting to go a bit rusty. Whereabouts are you?
  9. I've seen a jag XJ6 with them on in Reading....
  10. 45,000 miles already on a 2005 model? If it's genuine, the previous owner puts some SERIOUS miles in!! Also, I thought they stopped making mkiv's in 1998, or am I having a moment?
  11. Definitely interested. Could I see a sample first please. Does it definitely cover NA's (just checking cos you mentioned UK specs in your post)? I recently bought a workshop manual for the mkiv on ebay: only a few quid, but it doesn't go into enough detail to be much use.
  12. Until yesterday, I'd never even heard of an inline fuse in a car! Sheltered life, I know...
  13. Thanks merckx, I'll give that a go.
  14. Thanks Gav! Now I know what to get hold of, I'll give it a crack. I'm not used to working on cars though, so I wouldn't be surprised if I'll be making that call soon! BTW are you going to the party on saturday that you mentioned a while ago? Probably won't go myself, money and time are both in short supply
  15. For those who have fitted air horns already, how do you make use of a spare fuse socket in the fuse box (for the compressor's power feed)? I've had a look at those spare sockets, and I don't think they have any juice going to them at all.
  16. Hi all, A fairly boring, general question I'm afraid (but one that I'd really like the answer to ) I want to wire up an air horn, and I thought that I'd just be able to use pick a spare fuse socket to run the main power to the air horn's compressor. It doesn't look like any "unused" fuse sockets have any juice going to them at all, i.e. they have no pinch sockets that the blades of a fuse push into. Are these easily obtainable to make the fuse socket "juicy", or is it an arse to use these sockets? Also, one of the fuse sockets in the fusebox beside the battery is marked "TEL": does anyone know what this stands for? It looks like it's got a dummy fuse in it. Thanks for any help you can give, it's appreciated. :)
  17. Just done a search on the web. Have a look at this: http://www.motester.co.uk/cog.html Under the horns bit, it reckons the horn is legal as long as not a sequential multi-tone, so no dukes of hazard stuff! As long as both notes sound at once. I reckon the stock supe horn should fail on the 3rd point listed anyway...
  18. I was intending to just use a 2-tone airhorn (not one that plays a tune). The only horn I can find in my engine bay no longer works, so I want to replace it with something beefier. I think (pls correct me if I'm wrong) an airhorn is legal as long as it doesn't play a tune. I would think a 2-tone airhorn is similar (except much louder! ) to the combination of high frequency and low frequency horn fitted to the supe as stock items. Most airhorns I've seen come with at least 2 trumpets, giving 2 notes which sound at the same time.
  19. Good question: has anyone picked up a horn (either air or normal piezo) from Halfords?
  20. There certainly are 3 horns! In fact, here they are (see attachment)... I can only find one out of 3, and that one's never worked properly. If I do the airhorn thing, it'll just be a 2-tone, not one that plays a tune!
  21. Thanks chaps! I'll let you know how I get on. And yes, I think a recording could be arranged.
  22. Has anyone fitted air horns to a supra? In particular, what fuse should I use for the power feed to the compressor? I'm presuming I should tap into an existing fuse. Thanks for any help you can give!
  23. Merckx, do you know how much they are from Toyota, and who I need to contact to get one? Thanx
