  1. Oops In retrospect, perhaps I should have attended senior school...
  2. Maybe she shouldn't go back there, the school doesn't seem to be doing much for her grammer...
  3. 1997 Lexus LS400 4.0L V8 £3500ovno The car is, in the most part in very good condition; the only exterior blemishes are the two corners of the rear bumper (sorry, the pics were taken before the damage), which my local valet shop can repair for £85 each as it's only the paint that's been taken off (I can have this done, or take it from the price) and a small crack in the brake lense (not an MOT failure, it passed last week) The Alloys, I must confess, are not the best quality in the world; they were on the car when I bought it about 4 years ago, and have done a good job, but are not A1 (just trying to be honest ) The MOT was done last week, so all is good and well with the world. The interior is excellent, very nice, very comfy, very, very smooth ride. The service history is Lexus up until about 95k, when I started doing it myself (the car is on about 108k I think) I'm in Chelmsford; anyone is welcome to poke, prod and pass whatever comment they feel appropriate
  4. Having had a further root around, I have a few more stock items: Rad Cap Lower rad hose Full set of stock valve springs and retainers Altenator, Power Steering Pump and Air Con Pump pullys (although they could do with tarting up a little) Just thought I'd ask; if no one wants them I'll bin them
  5. I thought it was a joke....I kept reading, expecting a punchline.
  6. But you would also have to take away our intelligence, or we'd simply re-invent again.
  7. The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins does a pretty good job of explaining how evolution works. A long read, but interesting. I still think theres a lot of instint going on in humans though; why do you fancy someone, you may think you know, but there are a lot of physical aspects that you're not concious of, yet play a big part in your decision making. Modern medicine however, now that is weakening the species....How many diseases wouldn't exist, or we would be immune to if we didn't make cures? Granted, thousands would die to wean out the weak genes, but the theory's sound I think we're too clean though. Too much sterilisation, we're not building up the immunities that we used to. Kids should eat more mud.
  8. My Supe only gets about 210 from a tank...
  9. I also have an original rad with some holes in
  10. I have a set of original J-Spec cams cluttering up my garage if anyone wants them? They came out of my car a few years ago when I put a pair of HKS 264s in, and have been sitting in the HKS boxes ever since. They've been in the car for about 45k miles. I don't want anything for them, I'm just having a bit of a clear out. I'm in Chelmsford if pick up is possible, but if not I'm sure the postie won't mind too much
  11. Banks are useless! Two weeks ago we moved house. My girlfriend phoned the bank and changed the address. Last week, she lost her debit; she phoned up, cancelled it and was told another would be delivered in 1-2 days. A week went by, but no card; she phones and they say: "oh sorry, the address was changed to one in Sulihull (we live in Essex), the card has gone there; I have cancelled that card and changed the address to (repeats the correct address)". Then, yesterday, she tried to get a hire car, but her credit card didn't work...She phones the same bank and they say "you asked for that card to be cancelled...", "no" she says, "you sent my DEBIT card to the wrong address and cancelled that". Apparently not, they had cancelled the lot!.... So, being in the shop and more than a little embarressed, she says "well, can you un-block the card?", "Certainly" they say, "can you confirm your address?", which she does, only to be told "I'm sorry, that's not correct, we have you listed at an address in Solihull"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Muppets!
  12. I like Windows.....it breaks and keeps me in a job

    Newbie

    MPG....you mean GPM....
  14. Cheers, all sympathy following a govermental rogering is greatly appreciated. She's going back on the road soon and after having read a recent thread about the road tax debacle I'll be asuming the position and thinking of how the MP's couldn't give a damn as they don't pay it! Not Impressed
  15. I've just downloaded the V62 form from the DVLA to put my Supe back into my name (it was in my friends name for money grabbing ex-wife reasons) and because we can't find the V5 it's cost me 25 quid! I know I haven't done this for a while, but I don't remember there being a tax, sorry, charge for that before? I don't mind being proved wrong there, but it feels like the government had a sit down and thought long and hard about how many ways they can make the motorist pay for their financial shortcommings.... Rant over.

I'm in the middle of re-building mine; loads of new toys going on/in Unfortunately I'm on a ban until August so I can't enjoy it
  17. If anyone's interested, the torque setting for the Rod bolts (part number 203-6005) is 50ftlb.
  18. Looks like a typical ride home from work on the A12 to me... Maybe that's why I got banned?...
  19. Ah, er, ta... Doh! Well, at least I'm not the first However, (and this time I did search ;o) does anyone know where I can find the ARP conrod bolt torque settings?
  20. I've got a set of ARP head studs and a set of rod bolts, but I've lost the info that came with them Does anyone know what the torque settings are for them? Ta.
