  1. Ah, I see, that makes sense; ta.
  2. Thanks for that; I do have a Walbro fuel pump, and an FCD, so fuelling wise it should be able to take it. The turbo's were both fully re-conditioned by The Turbo Clinic; the ceramic blades were replaced with steel ones, with both compression and exhaust wheels having been enlarged (and properly balanced), as well as all serviceable parts being replaced. When I asked what pressure they would now provide, I was told 20/21psi (1.5bar) But the BC dictated the level of boost, and when I change to the lower setting, then boost is limited to 1 bar, so surely that suggests the BC can limit boost? I apologise for my questions, my technical knowledge is patchy, good in some places, but extremely lacking in others
  3. Thanks for all the responses. Is this 1.2 bar limit required to stop damage to the turbo's? If so, then as mine have been rebuilt to take more than that (1.5 bar according to the engineers who did the work), do I still need the restrictor ring? If you look at my car's spec, you can see that I have also upgraded the other bits (although not enough fuelling for 1.5 bar yet), so I'm not sure what to do.
  4. But I thought that's what the boost controller was doing?
  5. I'm not going up against you at Pod!
  6. At present I still have the front cat in my exhaust (the middle one has been replaced with a the through pipe), but I've been told that the back pressure created by the cat is used by the turbo's to prevent over boosting, is this true? I have an HKS EVC controlling my boost, so I would have thought that a full decat would be ok? Any thoughts?
  7. Why would anyone take a fast car, and make it look like a slower one?

  9. I had exactly the same thing; I have an old Rover, which is in perfectly fine condition (with a current MOT), but because I haven't used it for ages, I registered it as off the road (SORN), rather than getting it taxed. I came down stairs a couple of months ago to find a notice on the car from the managing agents of the flats, saying that it was in contravention to the lease, and that the council have been notified, and that it will be taken away within 7 days! Now, while I agree that the lease does state the whole "road worthy" condition, the car park is a private road; there's a huge sign at the entrance saying so, and it has a barrier stopping the general public from using it, so what exactly do my managing agents expect the council to do? I left it, and it's still there now! The managing agents here (Peverel) are useless though, they concentrate on petty things, like people putting washing near the windows, or parking their push bikes near the communal doors, but do absolutely nothing about the fact that motorbikes are being stolen from the "supposedly" secure garage (I have had three stolen in the last year!...
  10. Ok, I realise that I'm probably going to get a few sarcastic responses to this, but I need to ask! As some of you may know, I've been trying to track down a horrendous gearbox knocking noise, and I've made a discovery that might have some relevance? After many google searches trying to find some answers, I found a picture of a clutch kit, and I thought, "what's that bearing?" (pilot bearing) Up until now, I have only done flywheel replacements on old cortina's and rovers etc, which do not have this bearing, however, the centre of their flywheels are much smaller. My question is, what would the effect be of running a supe without this bearing?
  11. Thanks, but I think it's a little worse... I have just been out for a cheeky test drive (no MOT, not tax .. ), and the knocking is awful. Worse yet, it didn't go away (much) when the clutch was depressed. Just to add a nice ? factor into all of this, I am getting two seperate oil pressure readings; I have an oil pressure gauge, being fed from a sandwich plate behind the oil filter, which when at low revs, such as at a junction etc., is reading about 40psi (ish), yet at that point, the oil pressure warning light (which is being fed by the normal switch behind the air con pump) comes on! To makes things seem even worse, the flicker of the warning light corresponds exactly with the noise and knocking/revs, and goes out when the revs climb, and the pressure reads 60+psi on my gauge. I'm really lost at this point, and if I had the cash (which sadly I don't at the moment) I would gladly throw it into a garage and say "fix it"!. Please, if ANYONE has any ideas, about any of this, I could really do with some help...
  12. I know there are a few posts on gearbox noise, which I have read, and I have also read the brief description of 'normal' noises on the mkiv NZ site, but I am still a little concerned. When I rev the engine, it sounds gorgeous, but on the over-run there is a rattle, which can be felt as a repeating knock, almost like the flywheel is catching the bell housing (which it isn't, I checked). I have just replaced the flywheel and clutch, so it's not the old dual mass dying, and I'm hoping that it's just the normal noise that everyone has described, but it's the knocking feeling that's worrying me. When you stick your head under the car, the noise is definately coming from the bell housing/gearbox area, and it significantly reduces when you put the clutch to the floor, as does the knocking feeling. The thing is, it's been off the road for 18 months, so I really can't remember if it was there or not before, but I'm fairly sure I would have noticed it? Also as it has no MOT, I'm not able to take it for a spin, and see if warming the gearbox up reduced the noise! Most annoying!!! Please, any ideas?
  13. Who are Pheonix, where are they and what services do they provide? I'm desperately looking for a trustworthy garage (who know what a Supra looks like!) in the south, but they seem to be VERY few and far between! Ta.
  14. Well thank you my dear, very kind; I like her, but it seems like nothing's finished (bodywork, system, engine, suspension......)! Assuming she's working for the 17th (I need to find the cause of a rather worrying knocking noise), then you can see her in the flesh, so to speak; that is of course if your skates make it that far... Are you aware that the link on your signature is broken? Is this out of respect for your poorly ride?
  15. Are you being sarcastic?... My, we are getting frisky, and we haven't even met... Well, how can a man refuse an offer like that?... I'll nip off and grab some rope... :woot:
  16. Well my my wee beastie's Silver, but I'm sure we could find a colour co-ordinated tow rope...
  17. ..bad, no; justified, yes, possibly even a touch on the kind side, considering.
  18. Tell you what, I'll run a water skiing rope off of my rear wing, and I'll tow you there... Do I detect a touch of sarcasm there?...

  20. I really hope that you get the report you need and that the insurance/claim works out, but I wouldn't be surprised if any successful claim only covers the paint job, which would leave you severly out of pocket on fixing everything else by the sound of things. I think we need to have a quiet word with this guy; ripping you off is one thing, but ruining your car and trying to charge you more is walking straight into the realm of taking the pi$$. I'm only in East London, I'd be happy to take a few friends and have a 'chat'.
  21. someone kills it for good?.....
  22. ...sad people who don't have...
