Truely I feel for you; I have lost a couple of bikes this way and it rips your heart out; did you ever get her back on the road? I'm sorry I denied you a tow last Thursday, did you make it to the meet? Ah geez guys, I'm touched... Seriously though you've all been great, I really appreciate it; as for the meet, well, as soon as my wrist can handle turning a steering wheel, I think any excuse to get a collection of the best cars on the road, in the same place at the same time is reason enough!
-
Cheers guy's; You mean apart from the shattered right wrist... The other guy has admitted liability, but the police also blame him 100% so I'm hoping to get the bike replaced, as well as having a few quid to treat my supe out of this.. The cast comes off in two weeks so that the consultant can x-ray the wrist and check that the op went well, and that the plate is where it should be. As I say, if I can, I'll try to get a copy of it and post it; it should make for a cool pic!

I'm sorry to hijack the thread, but a new one didn't seem appropriate; I just wanted to apologise for not turning up last Thursday. I said I would, but on the Wednesday night before, whilst I was coming home from work on my bike, a truck decided to turn left from lane two without looking and thus became my new braking device. As you can see, there wasn't much left of the bike (there are 4 cracks in the frame, 3 of which can't be seen in these pics), and I spent the next few days in hospital wingeing about the bruising (in the pics) as well as my nice new shattered right wrist, which was plated on Tuesday (I'll post the x-ray if I can get a copy). All in all a bit shit really, but a fair excuse for not turning up I think? Are there any London meets, say around February time?....

Dispite many hours in a cold garage, swearing and getting generally stressed, my wee beastie remains sick. I have given up. A call was made to Phoenix a few minutes ago, and they are going to pick her up and take her away to make her better.... However, this means that I wont be able make Thursday, sorry guys :thumbdown

Cheers guys

2 Posts, hmnmm, yeah, er, sorry about that, these window things are damn confusing. I opened up the Who's Who page to see your picture, but then replied to this post, in that thread! User error.... Perhaps I should have said that by posting twice, I get to receive two replies from you... The 'Sunny' comment was aimed at the bike not you, riding a Duke I'm impressed you managed to get it to start ever day! 1500 Miles in 9 weeks is going a fair bit though. I must offer my sincerest apology if I offended you in any way with my harsh and callous comments on your riding ability; the use of a Duke as a first bike is uncommon to say the least; I have to admit that I assumed you were seasoned, and therefore questioned your lack of sliders etc. My 'Chicken Strip' comment was in the same vein; this refers to the amount of unused tyre on each side, the more unused, the less you lean and thus the less you push it. Again, this was a little unfair as it was your first bike, and I offer myself up for public flogging as well as whatever punishment you deem fit for such a terrible crime.. . How is your bike, did she survive?
-
So you only like riding on sunny days then... There's a distinct lack of sliders on your suit, and what's with the half inch chicken strip? Just kidding...

You a bike fan per-chance?

I have an odd problem that's worrying me; I seem to be getting two very different oil pressure readings. I have fitted a oil pressure gauge using a sandwich plate behind the oil filter, and when the car is warm, the gauge shows about 40psi (give or take), which is fine, but when the engine slows from revving to tickover, the oil pressure light (which is using the standard sensor) flicks on. Odd. I know the gauge is going to be slower to react than the warning light, but even when the engine burbles at very low revs before picking up for a while(I'm running high lift cams), the gauge doesn't drop below 10psi, and yet the warning light is on? A few people have said to trust the gauge over the light, but it's still very unnerving to see it come on! Any thoughts?

I've managed to track down and fix the noise/knocking, but when I came back from a test run, there was a trail of oil coming from the front of the engine somewhere... When it's not one thing, it's another... I'm fed up with her today, so I'm feeling sorry for myself and having a Star Wars fest, but I'll have another look tomorrow and see if it's something I can fix; but even if it is, I still need to get her MOT'd and Taxed... I'm still getting a lot of noise from the gearbox, but I've been told that it's normal when running a solid state flywheel; although I'd prefer someone who knows to confirm. I could always come down on my bike (ZX12), it might make for an interesting tow...

My baby's still not well; I will be having another look tonight, but my hopes are not high of making the meet....

It's typical Americanism I'm afraid. 'Spinners' were originally an English invention for racing; they were used on the INSIDE or the wheel, to help with brake cooling during the slower parts of the track (before vented discs etc.), but some American said "hey, lets take those puppies, make them all shiny and bling, and stick them on the OUTSIDE of the wheel! Yeah! I'm surprised they haven't released a set of Burbery spinners yet...

I have gone through some of the errors, but on the whole, I would guess that this is a PC that has had Windows XP installed and then had SP 2 added afterwards, which if fraught with problems, and I've yet to see one that works with that config. Though I hate to say it, a rebuild might be easier, and better, but if you have no means to install it, then that might be a problem! I hope this is of some help: 8193: VSS: This is a Shadow Copy error that occurs when you boot in safe mode, and can be ignored 4609: Event System: This appears to be an issue with installations of XP that have had SP2 installed afterwards, new security settings aren't applied properly. The following steps should fix it: 1) Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools. 2) Run “Local Security Policy”. 3) Go to Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignments. 4) Double click on “Create global objects”. The correct default settings are “Administrators”, “INTERACTIVE”, and “SERVICE”. 5) Double click on ''Impersonate a client after authentication''. The correct default settings are “Administrators”, “ASPNET” (if you have the .NET Framework installed) and “SERVICE”. Even if the settings are set correctly, you may need to “refresh” them to fix the problem. To do this, on each policy, remove one of the entries (“SERVICE” is probably the best to remove), then press OK to save the changes, and then go back in and add it back in again (click “Add User or Group...”, type “SERVICE” into the white box, and press OK). Then close the Local Security Settings box and reboot. 1517: Userenv: This is a bit generic, but basically says that the user profile was locked, and couldn't be loaded/unloaded properly. In the most part it can be ignored, unless it reccurs a lot. 1524: Userenv: This is very similar to 1517, and relates to the users profile not unloading properly. 2002: Perflib: This error means that one of the performance counters failed to receive information, but to be honest, it can be ignored: As per Microsoft: "The performance counter provider could not return performance counter data within the specified open timeout period. Either there is a problem with this performance counter provider or the service it is collecting data from, or the system was too busy when this call was made" 1000: Application Error: This is really dependant on the detail in the error, which isn't in the text file you posted. 4099: WMIAdapter: This indicated that a performace counter could not connect to the WMI interface, which is an interface for reading such counters. You can ignore this one. 4353 & 4356: Event System: both of these relate to the Com+ subsystem failing to connect to something, there are quite a few of these, and could indicate the reason for the slow down if they're waiting for something and failing, like I suggested in my earlier post?

No prob, I hope you get it sorted without having to take out a second mortgage; my baby's been off the road for 18 months now, so I know what it's like to be Supraless...
-
As promised; I have included both the Turbo and non-Turbo versions, just in case it's of use to someone else as well. I hope this helps. Tony.

Welcome, this site is excellent, if you don't spot the car you want for sale on the forum, then the info you're after will be here. Good luck and post pictures when you get it!

I live in east London, and Unfortunately the trick or treaters are not the cute 8 year olds dressed in a Woolworths costume, but a bunch of 15 year old, Burberry cap wearing, sovereign flashing twats, who turn up and say "trik or treet". Hmmm, of late I have been adopting the 'open door, look pi$$ed off and say in a not so subtle and aggressive way:' "What?" before they've opened their mouths. Granted, being 6' 6" and quite wide does help when I put across this message of not being overly happy about being drawn away from my favourite telly prog, to answer the door to a bunch of idiots trying to find a source of income before they can officially sign on, but hey..

It sounds like it's waiting for someting to reply; pipes are used for communication, either between devices/computers, or between applications, and it could simply be issuing a command or request, but timing out waiting for a response? Could you find out the exact error? If you can get the error id and the Source, then go to http://www.eventid.net, this is a really useful site for answers to event errors. Put in the event ID, then look for the corresponding Source. Hope this helps. If you have no luck, then post or PM me the full error and I'll have a look.

Implosion. Bugger. I have the workshop manual on CD at home, but I can't get to it until I get home from work; if no-one has been able to get one before then, I'll copy the relevant pictures for you.

email sent to you Chris Thanks for that, I've just sent Chris a request, but that may be a useful source for that ever growing list of "Toyota Only" parts!

VW's have a huge modding scene; I know a few people who are into it and there are meet's (including Pod), cruses, even their own magazine. It's more of a labour of love than a seeking of blistering performance, but it depends what your 'venture' is aiming at I guess?
-
Thanks for that, and trust me, with the noise it was making, I haven't driven it more than the half mile I tested it for; the noise and knocking was so worrying that I was afraid to rev it, so I'm hoping that all will be ok? I don't suppose you know of anywhere that sells Pilot bearings do you? My local Toyota dealer takes way too long to get parts in, and I'm not the most patient of people! Thanks again. Tony.
-
Well, that certainly describes what I am getting. The story goes that I had the engine re-built after a tragic loss of oil caused the crank and one of the con rods to need replacing; this was done by an engineering company near me, but I fitted the engine, so if the Pilot bearing goes in the crank, then it would certainly not have been in there when I got the engine back. As I said, not replacing it was ignorance on my part, but lessons learnt and all that.. I am a little confused though, because I found an article, posted on this forum which states that the Pilot bearing goes in the flywheel. Can you please confirm where it should go? Thanks.
-
That's what I assumed; I read an article stating that a worn pilot bearing will kill a clutch quick time, so then surely a missing one would cause a few problems? I posted a question a few days ago about a knocking noise coming from my gearbox, which was before I noticed the missing bearing; I'm hoping that this is the cause and that by fitting one, my wee beastie will be happy again.. I'll be ordering one today, and I'll post the results whern I get it fitted. Thanks for everyone's help.
