  1. Did you sign a new contract with the three month notice period in? I assume the £5k rise wasn't in there? I'm not sure legally, but you might be able to try a tribunal? It's a pretty off thing to do to you. You could also fake stress and get signed off for the last two months
  2. The oil change is simple enough, but the filter is a pain to get to. Do you have a filter removal tool? it's a bit difficult to get to with a screwdriver and hammer.
  3. Wishbones are good, the end nearest the inside of the car. There's also a good strut that runs across the underside.
  4. I'm just starting a rebuild of my Supe so it's off the road (I'm in the middle of a year ban ), but my girlfriend keeps saying how she wants to drive it when it's back on the road.... Much as I love her, in the past year alone, in her own little merc C180 she has scraped the rear wheel arch on the garden wall, reversed into a post, dented the drivers door AND pillar, scraped the front bumper and kurbed the alloys more times than I can remember! The 1.6 merc is also the biggest car she's ever driven, but when she asks if she can drive my twin turbo (C.400bhp) Supe and I look a tad worried I get "don't you trust my driving".... World war three would be bliss compared to hellstorm the wrong answer there would cause... Now, how long can I make the rebuild last...
  5. I'm intending, as part of my engine rebuild to fully decat my Supe (cat 1 is still in place); I've read all the threads I can find on the subject, but I'm not 100% sure if I need a restrictor ring or not, could someone please help? From what I've read, you need a restrictor ring if you have removed the two cats, but do not have a boost controller; I have an HKS EVC, so I assume that it would control the boost and thus I wouldn't need the restrictor? Is this correct? Thanks Tony
  6. It'd be interesting to see Tiff vs Stig though...

    Hey im new

Welcome! I'm carless too, but that's because my supe is in about 1000 pieces on my garage floor
  8. Could you post your opinion on the plugs when you get them; I've heard differing opinions so I'd be interested to know how you get on? If your DSL connection is 512Kb (0.5Mbs), then 14Mbs won't be your bottle neck. Tony
  9. I wonder what the 0-60 time is?.... ;o)
  10. Thanks for all responses, it's much appreciated; stock it is then... :o)
  11. Thanks for that, it's much appreciated. My next question is: would the Toyota gasket be good enough, or should I opt for something else; if the later then what is the stock thickness? I have seen conflicting reports on this forum as to whether it is 1.2mm or 1.4mm. Sorry to respond with another question.
  12. I've just started a rebuild of my engine and I was wondering what head gasket to use? I apologise if this has been posted before, I did a search and found tons of threads on Head Gaskets, but nothing definitive on what to use for my intended config; although there are over 400 threads with that key word, so I've probably missed it! I'm looking to get about 550RWHP when I'm finished, but it'll be done in stages as cash allows; as such, while I am running hybrids at the mo, I will be getting something with a little more punch later, so should I provide a lower CR to allow for the increased boost? My question is, in relation to my end goal, what head gasket (thickness) should I use? I can put an engine together, but my knowledge of CR verses Boost is not exactly comprehensive, so any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks
  13. The answer is simple, go to your local high street, wait for a convinient car with a dopey looking driver (shouldn't take too long....), jump in front of it, claim outragous insurance and then do the whole care properly!
  14. Well I just got my Supe back and he was very good, took care over loading/unloading and seemed to know what he was doing; the charge was £150 as agreed and he turned up when he said he would and didn't complain even when he had to reverse down my road, which is a nasty little cul-de-sac! Very impressed; I'd use him again if I need to move it, but hopefully it'll be able to move itself soon! Thanks for the reccommendation.
  15. Why, do you not like corners any more?.....

I found a more recent one in which she's pretty much fully grown and you can see the colours better. My boy thinks she's pretty tame!

She's a Brazilian rainbow boa, so named because her skin is iridescent and shines blue and green in the light. I’ve never been bitten and the only time she’s feisty is when she hasn’t been fed for a while.

Well if we're going reptilian, he's my little baby at 5 months:
  19. Thanks for that; I phoned him and he seems like a nice guy, location was no problem and the cost of £150 seems to be a fixed rate. T.
  20. I need to move my Supe which has died a horrible (but hopefully short lived, cash permitting) death from my old house (East London, E16) to my new one (Westerham TN16); can anyone suggest a recovery company who can be trusted to not rip the kit off and generally get it to the destination in the condition in which it was collected? I'm sorry if this is a re-post, but searching on "recovery", "transport", "Shipping" and "low loader" pulled up so many un-related links that I was struggling to find anything. Thanks Tony.
  21. Wiseco are huge in the bike world and make a lot of kits for a lot of bikes; I can't attest to their car pistons, but I have run Wiseco in several bikes and they take huge punishment. Bear in mind that bikes run higher compression ratios (than turbo engines) and rev a lot higher, although to be fair, they are not subjrect to the same loadings as a car places on engines. As for rods, I'm not convinced that they need replacing. I have a few mechanic mates who race cars, and they all say that they have never had a standard rod snap or give under pressure (across various cars). They have had the rod bolts go (I would reccommend APP), and other factors, such as oil starvation cause big and little end problems, but on the whole the rods bear up very well and the Supras rods aren't exactly small. Granted I have never done stress testing on stock rods and my 'evidence' is annicdotal, but I would be curious to hear if someone on here has had a rod break on them that was not caused by some external factor?
  22. Thanks for the advice; a mate of mine had a really bad smash 3 years ago and he's still battling with the insurance companies, even though the police prosecuted the other guy for dangerous driving! Needless to say I'm not holding out much hope of a quick turn-around. Interesting point about saying that I'll never get on a bike again though, I hadn't thought of that one; as you say, play on everything...

    Is it worth it?

It's very pretty, but £7k is a bit steep for a '95 NA, I would have thought £5k is more reasonable? Do a search on Auto Trader, they have lots of 95/96 models listed around £5k
