  1. Can anyone tell me the travel length you get from the v160 slave? Reason I ask is I've just fitted my v160x and osgiken triple plate clutch Bled the slave up and have inspection panel off the side of the bell housing and I don't seem to be generating enough travel for the thrust bearing to go from just touching the diaphragm to disengaging the plates The slave is from the v160 and its bigger than the w58 slave, but the master cylinders are identicle I've bled the living daylights out of it, and am going mad So can anyone enlighten me as to the travel generated at the fork where the slave pushrod meets it That way I can be sure if I've got a slave/master problem or if its something else If I adjust the pushrod length so the thrust is pushing into the diaphragm before you press the clutch then the clutch will disengage and it drives, but obviously this is bad as the thrust is constantly pushing the diaphragm and the clutch is never fully engaged It's as if the slave gives me this |----| And I need this |-------| Any help would be much appreciated
  2. Just pulled my w58 out, changed flywheel/clutch and then fitted v160 On axle stands Couple of extensions and wobble joints, decent alignment tools, tilt the engine back I did it on my own (never again) With a post lift and gearbox jack it would be easy as peas
  3. I'm lyneham area (near Swindon kinda)
  4. Thanks for the compliments everyone Just spent today hauling my v160 into my supra on the driveway, feel like I've been in the ring with mike Tyson Just gotta bleed clutch, fit exhaust and take it for a spin Hope the osgiken triple plate isn't too mad for street driving DaveR , I'm thinking of doing Ali engine under tray (similar to srd's) and a new Ali plate to replace the plastic front C also Once I've done mine, if you like it I'm sure I could make another

    Nuts

Help, I need a nut to fit the fine thread bolts on the v160 output flange Can't find one in my extensive pile of junk as its a strange size and fine thread Anyone help? Haribo waiting Also, fitting a gearbox in a driveway is mental, and I now ache from lifting the bloody thing
  6. You need a hand with your NA-T mate?
  7. Dropped my w58 and flywheel today, fitting v160 and osgiken triple plate tomorrow Not easy by yourself on the driveway
  8. Huge thanks to the mods and members who worked so hard to make this event such an enjoyable one Was great to chat and meet members in person, and the convoys and driving was fun (even tho my clutch was toast) Also, Jamie's gtr sounds like an f1 car when he drove off
  9. Awesome! Do you know the postcode of the services, just want to make sure I goto the right place
  10. I was going to be joining the m40 at j9 (On my way up from lyneham) But if its ok I'd love to meet up at the 8a services and convoy 8.40 at the Oxford j8a services
  11. As it happened my seals were all good and I'd recently replaced output bearings I used the na casing with its pinion and didn't actually need to shim or adjust Just swapped over diff cores I've done a few and tbh used the same crown bolts with new thread lock and is fine Decent socket and break bar needed lol
  12. I'll try n find the part numbers for the bolts I did the same myself I also made up some shims to adjust the backlash, so I I can find them your welcome to them
  13. Anyone coming from Swindon area or anywhere near , either to the falcon or straight there? I'm junction 16 m4 Would love to convoy
  14. Awesome, can't wait to see this, looking sexy
  15. Thanks abz, it's nothing amazing, but I love driving it
  16. Just rebuilt my engine and got it running sweet, mot Friday and I will be there in my silver monster
  17. I need to try n find out a meeting point or something Would be awesome to convoy up, I really enjoyed the japfest convoy so I'm hooked on convoys now
  18. Just bought myself and wife a ticket hope it passes the mot on the Friday Just gotta find a convoy from Swindon to jump on
  19. it will help, the oil will benefit from being kept within its optimum operating temps, i usually run a cooler pump ,electric thermo switch and little fan on a radiator on my gearboxes and diffs, especially if im doing track tho the torque and power delivery of a single turbo on the w58 is harsh, so its just a matter of time really unless your very lucky
  20. like david says, use fill and drain points and a pump (i bought my pump and cooler from merlin motorsport) and hey presto gearbox cooler same for diff simples
  21. rebuilt my engine, fitted my spare engines crank pulley as i thought it looked in better condition than the one i originally was running on the engine used the timing mark on the crank and cam pulleys as i put the new timing belt on, started it up spent a week trying to work out why it was running rough, i thought to myself it seemed retarded lol checked everything, pulled dizzy out and checked tdc and timing marks eventually checked crank position and found that id stupidly set up the timing belt on the wrong timing mark on the crank pulley (doh) my original pulley only had the one timing mark i felt very stupid
  22. the weld may just create another weak spot for a future crack to form under expansion- contraction and vibration, the two branches of three will pull against each other on heat up and cool down so in an ideal world one should have some form of flexi in it, or some kind of megga bracing id personally put a section in it now whilst its off and it wouldnt take long, especially as its clear from the type of cracking that the metal is becoming brittle ive repaired 100's of these style of manifolds and customers first go with a repair weld and possible brace, then take my advice after a 100 miles and another crack
