    hi from uk

Hey Sweep. Why the rolling eyes?
  2. Those lights I've come to like more over time, but the interior switch gear looks really dated too. This and the 997 suffered from the plastic going funny on the switches. Bit of a shame really.
  3. Nice. I as looking at the colours available and thought to myself the launch grey was the best.
  4. ..and the Mezger engine has less issues than the cheaper NA variants. I really like the 996 C4S - mostly for the red rear strip so reminiscent of the 80's. Wide body, likely to hold value.
  5. Indeed. It's all very confusing. I hate the idea of massive depreciation and I'm far too sensible to really go down that road. Modern cars have come on a long way, the Supra feels like a dinosaur in comparison. I'm toying with the idea of buying something that won't depreciate, possible increase a little. Keep it a couple of years to say I've owned a real "super car" (settle down, I the Supra is a super car too ). Porsche 911's and similar. The prospect of something seriously expensive going wrong is a serious concern. The Cheshire and Wolverhampton Porsche dealers I've visited seem pretty good, nice cars, decent warranties on used, proper service histories etc. Certainly give more confidence than many older used cars. At the end of the day, I jump in the MX5 - drive 7 miles to work and back every day and have a blast. It costs bugger all, parts are cheap and handles wonderfully. Not quite sure other than ego why I want to go down the route of risking the early retirement savings anyway. Really I should just take advantage of the low BIC on EV's next year and get a Tesla Model 3 and save on the corporation tax bill. Still...it's fun car shopping isn't it?
  6. I see what you mean now. That is a little odd. That's the 2.0 Z, not the six cylinder so that makes the Supra extremely good value in the USA compared to the BMW. Lol @Ric's comments. That's how I was seeing it until I saw the post above which makes complete sense now. What's surprising is how much more engine you get for your money in the USA. Toyota UK obviously thought they'd capitalise on that.
  7. I don't understand this. BMW Z4 M40i From £49,185 The 2.0l is a lot cheaper.
  8. No idea how it relates to the thread subject...but you might enjoy the recent Richard Hammond YouTube videos at the Morgan factory.
  9. I saw the Fifth Gear "review" last night and have to say, I think they unfairly bashed on about the BMW aspect way too much and should've just evaluated it for the car it is. I'm giving serious thought to spending the savings and buying something more extravagant next year and it wouldn't be fair not to consider the Zupra. So...I went for a nice long test drive on various roads today. It was very slippy and without driving too crazy I got it to step out a few times, but the traction aids in Sport mode are nicely done so as not to be too invasive and spoil the fun. I slammed it all the way around a roundabout and got it to understeer which wasn't nice, but it soon got back to oversteer with a firm throttle prod. "Please don't do that again" was the response from the sales guy. Incidentally, they dealer demos are all owned by Toyota who have them on a tracker and monitor if you're exceeding the speed limits. I'm told they will bollock the dealers if they abuse them. I found it very refined, almost too much as it got to 100 very quickly and didn't feel like that at all. Bit of a "license loser" then. Very smooth and stable. Was it exciting though? Hmmm....With the kit car and MX5 I find myself preferring lightweight sensibly powered cars which you can enjoy on the roads without getting into too much trouble, so I find these more exciting. This Supra overtook cars with ease, accelerated and munched through the 8 gears super quickly. Maybe I would've enjoyed it more on a nice dry day and I'd want to reserve final judgment until doing that. I've not driven many BMWs so my view wasn't tainted by that. I liked it had all the essential cabin toys including wireless CarPlay (which BMW doesn't have apparently? I've not verified this). Seats are lovely, very adjustable and comfortable. Visibility which I thought would be poor from sitting in stationary ones was fine on the roads. Overall I thought it was a nice, well sorted car. But is it worth £55k? Maybe I'm out of touch, but it feels overpriced. At this price I'd also be looking at used 911's or a new Alpine A110 - both which won't fall in value much. Or maybe I'll just keep the MX5 which they valued really well as a trade in and the three sales guys regaled me with how great it was - the condition of mine and fun to drive in general.
  10. Not AFAIK. I thought they used vBulletin too? Can't remember.
  11. Does the FAQ help? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?215323-What-Bulb-Guide-Pre-Facelift-and-Facelift The facelift bulbs aren't round, they're a kind of squished cylinder shape.
  12. Maybe something to do with their worldwide patent?
  13. Problem is...they kind got the market cornered for outdoor ones. I'm unaware of anything similar.

    Sketchers

Very comfy shoes that last a long time. Tend to buy my from the outlet store in Houston, TX where they're a third of the price to over here. Appreciate that's not so handy for everyone though.
  15. It's Discourse "The 100% open source, next-generation discussion platform built for the next decade of the Internet." From a developer point of view it adopts lots of modern practices, easily allows for things like storage of all attachments in AWS S3 (Cloud storage) for example. All means faster, more reliable, hopefully cheaper.
  16. ...not to mention the small point of actually programming the damn thing. The complexity of Auto box shifting maps have been discussed many times on here before.
  17. Some microfibre cloths. I was advised from other owners to do this because when it gets really windy the edge can buff against the car.
  18. If you’d like to see what a Supra is like inside a Carcoon see my video
  19. We already have a thread listing parts here : http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?355002-Heritage-program-Poll-for-A80-Supra-parts-(Mods) Don't want to see efforts doubled so I'm closing this thread, please continue to contribute there - thanks. Good luck championing our cause Keron!
  20. FYI - I have not found this to be the case. Maybe they improved them?
  21. Disappointingly I noted a small bubble starting to appear by one wheel arch after just 9 years. I guess that's not as bad as cars used to be back in the 80's. It's fine everywhere else though. Can't decide if to sort it and keep for another year or trade up. Shame as I enjoy it so much.
  22. Not very practical I'm afraid, but great dodging the rush hour traffic.
  23. Guys...it really is worth reading the thread first before taking the time to type a load of stuff out which is repeated or already marked as "not discontinued".
  24. Sure, EU regs would cover new equipment/custom modified replacement parts - but I wouldn't expect it applies to parts supply of existing like for like specifications.
