    Van

I would love a truck, but it needs to be able to have multiple surfboards, kayaks, climbing gear etc in the back. Plus the plan is to do summer surf trips etc in it so need to be able to live out of it reasonably comfortably. - - - Updated - - - Details?

    Van

I love Transporters. I don't know what it is about them, they just look really nice (for a van). I am drawn to the Hiace though. You don't see many about.
  3. Cheers guys. More things to check when I have the time. What I'm not understanding is that it started before I changed the pump (albeit not for very long) but now I've changed it it won't start at all. That's why I'm thinking it's something I've done that may be the issue now. I'll start by double checking what I've done with the pump, and if that doesn't work, I'll start making my way down the list.
  4. You may be right there Scott. I'll go over the pump fitting again anyway, as there may just be something I've done wrong. I don't want to transport it to a garage and find out I've made a silly mistake.
  5. Just had a thought.....the big plastic ring which sits over/around the FP assembly. I didn't want to over tighten it because I didn't want to damage it. I'm thinking maybe I didn't tighten it enough, so the seal hasn't been made. Most obvious thing I can think of. When I get a spare half hour or so I'll have a look.
  6. Hmmmm. It was keeping pressure before I did the pump, as it started and ran for a few seconds, so if it doesn't gain and keep pressure now, it must surely be due to something I've done when changing the pump. I'll go over what I did with the pump replacement again and see if I can find why there is no pressure. Maybe I didn't do something up enough.
  7. The plugs have only done about 1000 miles. Took the plugs out, gave them a clean, put back in. Coil pack clips are fine. No joy. If I remember rightly, when you take the fuel cap off there is usually a little "pish" sound due to the pressure of the tank. I took the cap off to see if there was any pressure but it was silent. So unless I'm mistaken it looks like I'm not getting fuel pressure. Pump is coming online when bridging FP and B+. It tries to start, but doesn't doesn't. As in, it it seems to be getting ignition but doesn't keep running afterwards. I also tried starting it with the diag pins bridged to counter the feedback to the Ecu but same result. Still no error codes logged either, so that's no help. Is there a special way to build up the fuel pressure?
  8. Right, fuel pump changed. If I bridge fp and b+ I can now hear it working. So the last pump imo was dead. So, good call there. However, now she won't start at all. She tries, I even get a slight rumble like she's going to burst in to life, but no joy. I've been trying for quite a while now. I know the fuel system needs to repressurise, but I have no idea how long that should take.

    Van

I'm looking for a van as I could do with one for my new career in outdoor pursuits. My budget will be around £5k hopefully in a couple of months time. I'm looking at things like: VW Transporter ( expensive I know) Toyota Hiace (2005/6 onwards) Mercedes Vito Nissan Primastar If anyone hears of anything going, please let me know. I am willing to travel pretty much anywhere for the right one.
  10. Try switching the wires around. Some of them need wiring backwards for some reason.

    how to

They may be too big a file size. Try shrinking the photos first.
  12. Cheers Chris. I'll get a Walbro 255 as that and an FCD are the last bits to go full BPU anyway, so it's another part off the list. Thanks for all the help guys, I'll get one ordered and fitted and come back with the results.
  13. To be fair, as far as I know the pump has never been changed, so I'll get a new 044 or 255 and change it anyway. If it fixes it happy days, if not then it's done, and it at least rules it out.
  14. It starts whether FP and B+ Are bridged or not. Bridging them makes no difference. No external fuel added.
  15. She starts, runs for 10 seconds or so, then cuts out. This is why I think she isn't getting fuel.
  16. I removed everything from the boot down to where the spare wheel goes. The noise is definitely from the fuel tank area (so must be the pump) and is only a very feint high pitched "buzz". I definitely wouldn't describe it as a droning noise. I'd record it, but I don't think anything would pick it up its that quiet.
  17. Right then, finally I have the supra back from the bodyshop! I've just been out, bridged B+ and FP. I'm guessing at this point I should hear a whir from the fuel pump? All I'm hearing is a very feint high pitched "buzz" (for lack of a better word), like a current is there but it's not doing anything. From this lack of "fuel pump operating" noise I'm guessing the pump is at fault. Input appreciated
  18. One of the cars on my bucket list. In fact, in the top five "I have to own before I die" cars. Looks absolutely stunning.
  19. Cool I'll have him here tomorrow anyway so I'll try and have a look for him then. Thanks for the help Chris, you're a star
  20. Turns out not so lucky. We disconnected the battery overnight to reset the ecu. No more warning lights have reappeared, but still down on power. He said he could hear a whooshing noise as he accelerated. I took it down the road and he's right. Where there used to be the sound of a spooling turbo, it now sounds like air is just rushing through a straight pipe. I have a feeling (I haven't looked into it yet) that the turbo may well have seized due to the lack of oil going through the system. Is it going to do any damage driving it with a seized turbo? It's his only car, so needs it to get around.

    2006 Impreza WRX

That's a shame to hear about the hawkeye engine issues. I much prefer the look of those over the blobeye model before. Saying that, it would give me some extra cash to have a play with. The Supra, sadly will be going once the fuelling (or whatever it is) issue is sorted. I will be back in one again some day, but I've had Supras for 6 years and fancy a change. Plus, running two cars is a bit of a pain, so with something like an Impreza, I can ditch the daily. I've been offered a 2004 blobeye STi in Black with some performance mods, running 360 (ish) bhp with £1k my way for the Supra once the issues are sorted. Not sure on their value as I haven't checked yet, but it's tempting. Which is the better model to have? Sti or WRX? I'm sure you used to be able to get WRX Sti which was the top notch one?
  22. Any one had one? I'm looking at potentially getting one as a practical yet fun car, but don't really know a lot about them. They tend to go for around £5k - £6k so don't want to jump in without any prior knowledge. Either that or a 2003 shape version. Any insight people can offer would be greatly appreciated.
  23. That's what I was thinking. 370z Edit: quick google image search for "370z dash" gives us the answer.
