  1. I'm fairly sure they are just plastic, you can get reproduction ones fairly cheaply or just buy a replacement from someone on here. I remember seeing the advert for this car when it was for sale, it's a nice car so worth getting a proper job done. Dent's can usually be pulled out by any decent body shop but get a pic up of the damage so others can chip in.
  2. I hope you win, I like to think most people are pretty honest but there are always those who drive home, chat with their partners and all of a sudden the story changes. Ric is right about the camera, I was driving along not long ago and this oncoming car went right out into the middle of the road to the point where I almost left the road. I thought if there was a crash and the police turned up who's word would they take? the other guy in a corsa / rover or me in a supra? Even the cheap ones are supposed to be fairly good these days, I bought this one the other day, hasn't turned up yet but if it's rubbish then I haven't lost much. Recording at night is the acid test. On the other hand I don't want something massively expensive in my front window. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221533976637
  3. I've had this since I bought the car, I believe it's possibly related to one of the two speed sensors. Do you happen to have a KPH to MPH converter installed behind the dash?
  4. Cheers, that was it number 2 coil was knackered, I didn't want to mix and match so I bought a new set and it's running well now, thanks for the pointer
  5. Thanks for the pointers all, I changed the plugs about 4 months ago but will get some fresh ones as they are fairly cheap to rule out. It's hard to work on this in the week without garage or decent lighting so might try and borrow a garage in the week or do some more at the weekend. I plan to remove the IACV again and clean and change plugs. This weekend I noticed a small coolant leak so spent some time gettign that fitted, I had the coil pack clips apart and removed and checked the white inserts and wires and all look ok. One final thought on things to check, could this potentially point to a damaged O2 sensor?
  6. I was driving along the other day when all of a sudden the car sounded like it was running on 5 cylinders, I stopped the car and checked everything over buts its still doing it. It's really slow to accelerate and sounds quite loud and lumpy. I have had all the coil packs out, checked them over along with the clips and all seems good. The RPMs seem to drop when I hold it at 1000 as in the video below, I took apart the IACV less than 6 months ago and cleaned it all out. Could this still be IACV related or is there something else I can try? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqYcIuso6Wo&feature=youtu.be
  7. I would check the alternator, aircon pulleys also, could be on the way out.
  8. Another vote for the crank pulley, i'd be tempted to get a new stock one rather than one you can find on ebay. I think they are around £300 - £350 but an important part for peace of mind.
  9. Ha I like the idea that I could stitch, no that's how they came. They have been stuck under my stairs for a few months so I'm sure once they have a bit of sun on them they will tighten up a bit. One thing to remember is that on the stock seats the seat belt clip is physically attached to the seat itself. With some aftermarket ones including these you don't get a place to bolt the clip on so you need to add it to the frame (or seat) with a strong bracket. Quick job though. Edit: That was the short set, they were just fine.
  10. Ebay jobbies, there's a couple of people with these now. For the money they are pretty decent, I just wanted rid of that damn electric seat! I will upgrade these at some point though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-PVC-LEATHER-EFF-RECLINING-BUCKET-CAR-SEATS-FOR-TOYOTA-CELICA-MR2-SUPRA-/371148898559?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item566a32c0ff
  11. Happy with that! No more stock electric seat! Only a minimum amount of swearing, you might need to use smaller washers and stuff on some of the bolts or longer bolts. In case it helps anyone else out, to share how I fitted them to make sure things run smoothly. Bolt the rails into the car to start with on both sides, then stick 2 pieces of wood between both rails forming a square. For this I used no more nails on a roll (B&Q about £5 but well worth it). With this strong (but easily removable adhesive) it means that when you unbolt the rails you can be sure they are spaced exactly right without any guesswork involved, you can just offer the now square frame up to the seat bottom to mark your holes. One thing to be careful of and this really only applies to the drivers side as there's enough clearance on the passenger side, check the positioning of the holes you are going to drill for the seat. There is a bracing bar that runs along the floor and there isn't enough space to get a nut under it.
  12. This one... I'm lead to believe it's for the factory fitted stereo (amplifier?) which isn't fitted but is there anything else in that box of tricks that is used for anything? Don't want to find I am removing traction control or anything . I just need a little more clearance as I have loosley fitted Johns low mount seat rails for a test fit. Ideally I would like to remove the cable loom and tidy it up a bit.
  13. Good guide Ric, always good to see people putting together info that can help others out
  14. Prepare yourself for a thread where people will suggest you pay £800 A few people use these without issue, I wouldn't use for a big single build but if I had a BPU car with a stock SMIC and it was knackered I'd probably replace it with one of those.
  15. Inferno's was definitely the best I have seen in terms of money spent and attention to detail.
  16. No car back yet John? Come on, help me give you money !
  17. I remember taking a picture of myself the last few moments I had 'almost' a head of hair then shaved it. For about a week after I was was wearing beanie hats but I don't think anything of it now.
  18. Fastrads in newport seem to get quoted a bit too, supposed to be really cheap but good quality, a few members have tried them now.
  19. I wanted to replace my scuttle panel and wipers and couldn't work out how they came off. In the end I decided the best thing to do was to switch the wipers on till they were vertical then turn off the power so I could take the scuttle over the top of the wiper arms. When I eventually worked out how to take it apart and how it all fits together I swapped back in my replacement wiper and wiper arm in it's rest place, completely forgetting that I had turned the wipers on halfway before and so when I switched things on it stripped the grooved head off the wiper motor, doh!
  20. How much stuff did you have to disconnect to remove the lid?
  21. I've got the same issue with mine, just waiting for a day or so to get it sorted. My local place said they would paint it but that I would need to remove the boot lid. From what I understand that can be a bit tricky as you have all the wiring and washer tubes etc. They said that it's fine to paint with a rattle can as it's not polished paint anyway so I see their point saving up for a full respray so just to stop it getting worse.
  22. I sat in the boot with the lid up and cleaned it with a pad dipped in white spirit, worked well enough and used a bit of meths as the end to clean the glass and it looks fine now.
  23. Any luck getting a further group buy organised? I've got 2 seats sat in my kitchen!
