  1. It's pretty tough being an exclusively automotive photographer - as I'm sure Gaz6002 can attest, work is not always consistent or well-paying. One of my best friends in Australia (who shot my car for the magazine) has done some pretty amazing work, but still doesn't get regularly asked to shoot magazines. As for the format, most serious photographers (amateur or pro) will shoot RAW as it allows a greater amount of information to be gathered - meaning the shot can be adjusted in post-processing and still retain the accuracy & authenticity of the original frame.
  2. You love them, and yet you keep selling them!
  3. Pretty good pics, even if I don't like heavily HDR'ed photography (I feel that it takes away from the aesthetics and composition of the frame, in most cases). Of course, your car is awesome so I would be surprised if he couldn't take good pics of it
  4. Interested in how this progresses. Subscribed Edit: you can always use the spring-loaded method - once air pressure exceeds a certain level/speed, the plate will flip up.
  5. Haha, I'm not sure either - but it seemed funny to me at the time! I think it struck me more like your car is a sudden massive overload of shiny, and some people might be overwhelmed and need a sit-down
  6. I skim read the instructions on the bottle, and initially thought it said ".. plating of metals to induce vomiting" and went WTF, that describes this build perfectly
  7. I have both at the moment - 6 speed single with multiplate clutch, and stock TT auto. The auto is MILES easier to drive because you simply do not have to think - just point and shoot. Doesn't give me the same thrill as the single, but there must be a good couple of hundred horsepower difference. Never had a powerful auto, but have been in my friend's BPU then T04Z singled tiptronic auto... it's quite fast - the gear changes are so quick with a shift kitted auto that the torque seems not to stop!
  8. Quoted for the truth. Anything can be chavvy - exhibit A: http://overdrivetv.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/ireland_5.jpg
  9. Sounds really nice, Jack. I do *kinda* miss the burble of the stock twins when heard through a nice exhaust... *kinda*
  10. As Stevo has said, SF.com.au is a much better source than here. However, with the exchange rate being so favourable, you might also go on SF.com for the US suppliers - Curt Aigner @ Elmhurst Toyota for OEM, MVP, Titan, Sound Performance, Boostlogic, the list goes on for top notch Supra gear.
  11. The G2 caliper paint has been constantly recommended on the US and Au forums
  12. Yeah. I think ADVs market themselves to the exotic owners, and so price themselves to suit a larger budget. My next set will be either CCWs (despite the spacer issues) or another set of Rays/Volks.
  13. MVP was having a sale on these a few months back, and I enquired the pricing. 18" ADV10 TS Retail $9548 Your price $6700 shipped to the lower 48 They're nice, but not that nice.
  14. Looks purposeful Can't wait to hear it!
  15. Nice car, Jack.. even if it *is* red Love the CR-Kais, but can't help but think you should get a second pair in 18x10.5 and switch the 9.5s to the front
  16. My apologies - I didn't realise the other data was real-world. Were these all on SRR (or a common dyno)? Because if not, it calls into question the accuracy of comparison.
  17. Nice. Yay for another single build with lots of tasty pictures
  18. It doesn't seem particularly accurate to blindly compare your dyno results with the on-paper results for other turbos. I think you're getting caught up in this idea of "spooling" rather than "time to torque". I agree with Steve's contention that mildly better low-down torque doesn't always compensate for a big loss of torque from 4k rpm to redline - which is where you'll spend the majority of time if driving hard. It will only be noticeable, as I said earlier, on tight and twisty tracks where you will spend more time in low gears.
  19. Oh, I don't think anyone's missed your point.. just that I, for one, think that the fast spool is much less important than torque curves and mid-range. And a small turbo that gets great spool will be underturbined for a 2J, IMO.
  20. Fast spooling is good if you can't exceed motorway-ish speeds (for example, on a tight and twisting racetrack), but they run out of legs past there. Not sure I'm a big fan of early power at the expense of mid-range and top end.
  21. Magic! Love what you've achieved, mate.. just goes to show what you can build if you are handy, have a few connections and keep your eye out for bargains
  22. Nice one It's now yet another job on my very very long list of "things to do"
