  1. Nice car! You might want to strongly consider upgrading that radiator - VVTi cars are renowned for more easily overheating with single turbos. Any fact to support that contention? None of my friends back home with single turbo VVTi Supras (T04Z, T51, for example) pushing 550+ whp have blown their stock motors.
  2. Really? The name on the watermark is crediting "Jonathan"...
  3. Not sure if you were aware, Rob, but you've rated a mention on the Speedhunters web article on the BHP show: http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/BHP-Show-2013-44.jpg
  4. Haha, nice one, Steve! I recall the first road trip after getting my car back in 08 - first tank went in 150 km (that's 90 miles, for you lot over here) I suspect you *might* have been driving like I was
  5. I've always thought the Supra is more similar to the Aston Martin, a big sports GT car that can handle but with 500+ hp. Astons are still FR, long nose, big haunches, epic soundtrack from a big motor. As should the Supra.
  6. Parachute seems a bit unnecessary! Looks good otherwise, especially those wheels
  7. Shall I let you be the one to break the news to the missus? If you need me, I'll be the one standing outside the blast radius
  8. Going to have to bail on this one, unfortunately - prior commitments in Finland. Would have been epic
  9. It's actually a pretty stock R/T - plus vinyl wrap, SSRs, and *I think* the shaker hood was extra too. But black 5.7L hemi V8 6 speed manual will be $29k - plus whatever a new set of coilovers and SSRs would cost. Of course, for me I wouldn't be able to leave it stock exhaust or stock motor.. so allow $40k total
  10. Actually, I misquoted the price. Just optioned up an R/T, and it's only $29k USD.
  11. What makes it even more balltwisting is the fact you can buy an R/T in the States for only $35k USD - which is £17.5k!
  12. My current desktop. And hopefully my next "proper" car - new Challenger RT. http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/desktop05.jpg

  14. Holsets have been used quite regularly on Supras (among many other cars) in Scandinavia, because they are very cheap and quite durable.
  15. Nah, sold the car before I needed to replace the Yokos. No arch work needed at the front - offset was pretty good, but heavily rolled rear arches. R888s gave me complete traction all the time (30psi on 71 mm single turbo). Yokos would spin up to 4th gear. Didn't really drive the car hard around corners, so don't know much about the lateral grip though.
  16. I was still running a 265x30x19 Yokohama Advan on the fronts (19x9.5 Rays GTS) after the rears um.. "wore out" and I switched to the R888s. You might find the 265 fits well enough for you in the R888 as well.
  17. Money in the bank Am considering getting an old school car (like an E12 5 Series BMW), but I live back in Central London and don't need a car anymore.
  18. Actually, the final straw was my triple carbon clutch slipping. Car was running perfectly, thanks to Ryan and the Syvecs, but I felt like the car was owning me rather than the other way round. Don't miss it at all.
  19. Nice photos.. more "Rob Mitchell Specials", I see
  20. Rays GTS Pretty sure you cannot get them in 19s any more, either. So relatively rare on a Supra.
  21. Haha good luck getting a 4780 to drive like "stock" off boost I think I know what you're meaning with respect to driveability, but that thing won't be ANYTHING like stock!
  22. Can I just make the point that MOST of the Supras sold on here in the past few months (this "avalanche" of sales, apparently) have been sold for reasons other than basic running costs. Yes, they can be a thirsty car but no more than any other 3 litre petrol engine (and a damn sight more economical than some) if driven judiciously. And yes, they are expensive to repair and replace parts... but these parts have usually lasted 14-19 years! Bottom line, you get what you pay for. Stop thinking these are £10k cars, and start thinking they are often poorly maintained £30-40k cars (the exceptions being the no-expense spared restorations like Dandan's full suspension replacement) and you'll keep your expectations appropriate.
  23. The biggest factor in safety is the nut loose behind the steering wheel. 1000 horsepower can be safe, but not necessarily that pleasant or streetable (in terms of parking up at Waitrose, or being stuck in traffic, for example).
  24. Wow! Hope we have a build/restoration thread coming
