Try going into a coma. She gets the company, you get the rest and you have still achieved something more exciting than watching a Soap

Take the handbrake off.

I dunno Catholics seem to be getting it pretty badly. Talk about one rule for some and another rule for others. The whole system is shambolic and the law is a playground for anyone with a cause. From my experience the least tolerant people are those who are afraid of those who play the race card. They seem to go out of their way to be seen to be looking after the interests of the underdog and yet create a more alienated and divided society than ever before. In other words those who look after the interests of others make the situation worse. To be honest I dont give a toss if they are all black or green and the sooner colour is not even debated the sooner we will see some positive feeling in society. I will call any man a brother if he behaves like one to me

I can't abide them because they are a waste of your time. Get a real life I say.

Its getting to the stage where you can't have anything decent before some tosser makes it their personal goal to ruin it or steal it. Some git cracked my drivers headlamp this week and just drove off. A couple of weeks ago my Mrs CRV got a huge dent in the drivers door when parked in the council car park. The only way you could do that amount of damage would be with the corner of a box or similar. There is no way either person did not know what they had done and yet the scumbags drove off. What happened to decency and honesty? Even if they left a note and said they are sorry but can't afford the repair it would be something. You could forgive that, but just to act like uncaring scum makes me angry.

My toilet often sounds like Hiroshima going off, never mind a quack.

For £800 that is difficult. You need a good graphics card to start with. Why not look on Ebay for a high spec Dell Workstation second hand. You should get one for under £750 and have a £2K or more machine

The factory worker was going to work on December 17 last year when he decided to jump the level-crossing safety barrier and walk over the tracks at Rainham station in Essex. His own words: ‘I see people jump over the crossing now. But from experience, I know they’re idiots. After all that he was an idiot - lol

Welcome and good advise from the others. Rear wheel drive, tricky chassis, loads of power etc etc can be a handful and bite you hard especially in the wet.

It makes you think about who these 'people' really are. Maybe Carl has a point.

I was wondering.

I would say you are way off mark here. There is a minimum standard and it is not alright to keep rewriting the rules to accomodate the reckless and feckless in society. What happened to having morals, ethics, responsibility, respect and honesty. Some people call them 'values'. You cannot always adjust to suit the lowest level because human nature means that no matter how low you set the bar, some people always undershoot and you have to keep lowering it again and again.

A fellow Supra fan brought this to my attention His own words - "The wife works for Bookers, its a big warehousing and distribution setup. they have just got a contract to supply HMP. the convicts order stuff from the cataloge, the order is sent to bookers and they dispatch it out, but this is the killer, Nike trainers public price (thats what me and you pay) £70 price for the convicts £12.50 the rest is subsidised by the govt playstation games (our price) £35-40 convicts price £8 and the list is endless, so you will all be happy to know that the slice of your hard earned cash that labour steal off you, goes towards the criminal bastards residing in Her Majestys Hotel chain." Scandalous.

Have you got her number by any chance?

I am looking forward to his take on this as well. Love him or hate him Carl certainly adds a bit of life.

That lad looks plain scared. He deserved a better upbringing than he had. He has been let down by his parents. What chance does that baby have now. In fifteen years you will probably see history repeated. This is symptomatic of the ludicrous hand out system we have. Don't get me wrong, we need a system to care for those that have no other help but when you let it get so abused and create a generation (or three) of dependants it is ludicrous.

sigh. More tax.

Carl, I too am about to bow out. My point has always been, that IN MY OPINION the CCTV showed someone who was acting like an idiot. From the evidense it was impossible for me to see any other intent with the person other than to cross the crossing at any cost and flout any commonly held regards for safety, legality or common sense. These acts of folly do cause untold and far reaching misery. I have experienced a tiny bit of it as I explained and I thank you for your kind thoughts on that. Yes, I said a deliberately provokative think like having people like him sterilised. That was unfair but it does represent the anger I feel about the actions of some people who obviously CAN help themselves. This is where you and I part company on the thread. You rightly raise the issue of people who cannot help themselves and I agree with a lot of what you say. BUT from my point of view you did not address the issue of someone who deliberately discards common sense and vaults a barrier and crosses in front of a train with no obvious intent to kill themselves or be distracted. I call that person an idiot and you remain silent. My comment about balls etc relates purely to that issue. I have to be honest and say I retract that, because you are certainly fighting your corner now. However, the discussion has moved on and I will not take part. See you on other threads. Chris

Similar history here. I did Mech Desk since it was a combine of Autovision/Autosurf etc at R13 right up to last year for archive stuff. We still keep a laptop with it on. Autodesk pre Inventor is simple Boolean and very 'clunky' to use if you want anything other than 2.5D stuff. I have 2 x SW and 1 x Inventor, all at current release with full vendor backup/helpline and ongoing updates. The cost to a small company like mine (3 staff) is huge at this mid level If we were to go to Catia/ProE it would double our costs (at least) but the gain in productivity is not 2X so the customer carries the cost. As for needing to do FEA/Mold Flow etc those costs can be subbed out at a fraction of the cost and charged direct to the client. The key is to multi project work so you can fill the delays. Basic FEA/Mold Flow are included in the SW software and are good enough for initial design evaluation. As for automatic updates and optimisation they are also in SW and Inventor. Same as automatic drawing creation and a really capable render engine. I would love to move up a notch with CAD but it would just be a luxury. Back to your point - some mid range packages are very good value for money and come hard on the heels of the top packages. Users just need to be flexible to get the best from them. As for Catia/Ideas being the only good CAD, I think its horses for courses.

PM me if you need help

You really need to go into Solidworks and Inventor to get proper mid market 3D. Acad is hard work and is only a simple boolean modeller based on basic 2.5D principles and very clumsy surface modelling. edit - 2D is excellent I have to agree. But that is the pedigree for Acad and the 3D was added on very clumsily. Sorry my first post was a bit sharp. Apologies to anyone who read it.

Check out Google sketchup. Do it yourself or PM me and I will put you in touch with a designer.

Yes - It is a bit of a Marmite car. Personally I quite like them but it will always be difficult to get 100% right. A designer treads an invisible fine line doing this sort of stuff and its only after the launch that you get a proper consensus of opinion. Its the easiest thing in the world to convince yourself but the public are a little more hard nosed. I still think the 30's look (and mentality)has a lot going for it and I despise the current trend of small, space saving, clever designed cars. Car manufacturers often lose sight of the fact that a car is very often more than just a mode of transport for the users and I would like to see cars have some of the energy/optimism/funkiness of those from the thirties. Car designers knew a thing about 'vision' in those days and were not tied to political and emotional sensitive agendas like today.

Wouldn't it be fantastic to get more modern cars with a retro style influenced by cars of the 30's instead of all these euro boxes we get coming out of wind tunnels and same style designers these days.
