Rape is all about the perpetrator and not the victim. It can never be the victims fault no matter how they dress or even if they are drunk or stoned. There is no mitigation. However, I think I see what you were trying to say which is that a risk does exist and you should recognise the risk and not 'increase' the risk. Responsible retaillers (and parents) would know this and take appropriate action irrespective of their profits. Morals do cost money. Hogmaw - "he is a product of this country, perversions included, and it is up to us as a society to deal with the people we produce. " and back to my earlier point in a previous post. Who let him out in the first place. They should have some answering to do as well.

That unspeakable miserable cowardly nasty little sh!t. A part of me wants to keep him alive and in as much pain and misery for as long as possible but that is just vindictive. What do we do with him. Is he ill. Is he just a criminal in the same way a burglar is. What do we as a civilised society do. I dont have an answer but I cant help putting emotion before logic in this case. It also says a lot about us that we let him go out to the rest of the world in the first place and I would lay some blame at the system and the people responsible that allowed this to happen. There is no justification for allowing our scum to be exported to other vulnerable nations. If it is not OK in our society why let someone prey on others in other societies.

"You need to know how business are run in China in order to get what you want on time" The Chinese have a very strong sense of honour and they often meet an agreement by compromising on other issues. In their eyes they honoured the agreement!!!!!! There can be a lot of conflict in this attitude especially as our UK domestic standards are apparently so much higher. I say apparently because once you have a factory that understands the UK in the same way the UK understands ROC it all settles down and can be very good.

Sorry to go off topic but its Saturday early evening I am at work. My Chinese factories are online with Skype and GoTo Meeting. I can speak to them 24hours a day. We see work on each others PC terminals and do business across the timelines that are impossible in GB. I bet not one single UK manufacturer you use is contactable right now.

Knowing how to work with China and the Chinese is the key. Same as any offshore manufacturing. Yes the quality can be suspect but good manufacturing specifications and due dilligence easily overcome that. You cant tell me you have ONLY ever received the very best service/quality/cost from the UK. I am not defending China but we must look beyond the razzamatazz and the glib. You are correct, offshore costs are rising and my feeling is that this is only the beginning. European and domestic manufacturing can be a very attractive option as costs come into parity but the trend is for increasing costs. Clever design is the best tool a company can use to control costs. Sorry for the sloppy writing. It should have been future tense but no doubt you got the idea.

Exciting stuff reading this. I have been to China and do a lot of business with the Chinese in manufacturing. It is certainly a country of great extremes and contrasts and there is a lot of good stuff in what AJI says. Back to the point about the Olympics. The eyes of the world are on China and she has exceeded all expectations. China has come of age and we had better sit up and not underestimate her. There are a lot of People/Countries out there who will have had a huge wake up call this last six months. I fully expect to see China flexing her financial muscles in the next twelve months and we will see an end to cheap manufacturing and its impact on our own economy as prices continue to rise dramatically. The times are a changing and they dont look good. And another thing. We had better be prepared to be shamed by China in 2012. I seem to recall the Head of the Olympics make a decree at the closing ceremony saying that the Games are the best there have ever been. This might be the case for China but ours will most certainly end with a Borat style NOT!!!!!!!!! and a guffaw of laughter.

Sorry - just checked. If they owe you they dont code it in they send it you. If you ring them they will check your record there and then and if you are owed they send you a cheque. Apparently the IR never send emails - very very few of the mainstream staff have outbound email capability. It is all done by writing.

I know someone who works at HMRC and she reckons everyone should automatically check every year if they are due a refund. She told my mate Paul to check and he got £400. The issue seems to be that YOU need to ask. Just get on the phone and give them your NI No. or Unique Tax Code (or whatever it is) and go from there. I think she said if you dont claim it they code it in or something so you dont see the benefit as it is absorbed over the year in your allowances.

Did you sell the gearbox? Do you have the suspension available. Mine is ludicrously low and need changing. Many thanks Chris -

Scooter - I owe you a drink. I got the one that you pointed out. VERY nice indeed. Silver, NA, big brakes, facelift model, interior is mint, big brakes, nice exhaust, minor bodywork issue (bloody shopping trolleys) 60K miles, lowered suspension and unmolested as far as these cars go. I will post a few pics in a separate thread and put up the shopping list of bits I will need. Many thanks Chris

Here is the update. First of all a great big thankyou to all of you for the messages and posts of support. I am off to look at a car tomorrow. Its a P reg Silver Aerotop in supposedly excellent condition. I reckon I owe someone on here a big THANKYOU if it works out for pointing me in the right direction. I spent a fair part of the day looking at insurance. Tried the usual suspects Flux and Sky but I also tried RAC. Blow me down the RAC were EXCELLENT. Took them a little while to sort out the group etc but in the end they gave us fully comp, Myself and the Mrs (and my huge prang in May) covered for SDP and Business with no restrictions for a better deal than the other two. All I need to do is see the car, drive it, ring up RAC and enjoy. First job is to transfer the private plate, do a full internal/External/engine valet and think about the shopping list for a manual conversion. Chris

Its only mentioned for the rare possibility of being caught out with a puncture. I have never owned an aero before so I was just checking if it would do any harm. Many thanks.
-
Quick question then for the aero owners. When I get the Aero is it Ok to jack them up with the roof off using the standard sill jack. It sounds to me like it will just twist. I also assume you dont try to take the roof off/on with twist in the chassis like with car sat with one wheel on a kerb or similar.

Interesting read. Just about to look at my first Aerotop and drive it. At least I wont walk away thinking its knackered now. Many thanks.

The hunt goes on and I have to travel to see a private seller next week and that looks very hopeful. If that turns out to be a dud then there is one more that sounds very nice but it is a bit expensive and even further away. I have also spoken to Jurgen (nice Guy by the way) and have a great long term opportunity through him. All in all my Karma levels are pretty good. This might just work out OK.
-
Thanks Andy, Have done and await response. Wish me luck everyone. Chris

First of all many thanks for the welcome and the messages. I really am looking forward to getting an Aero. Its been a while now since the last one and I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms. I feel the need!!!!!! I have a fair chunk of cash sat in my wallet so the sooner the better as far as I am concerned. There is a saying - the money is burning a hole in your pocket - how true.

Hello again, the update is that I spoke to the chap who owned the Supra in Crediton but he works away in Germany. I need to get hold of him again to talk about the car but cannot because my mobile is lost (stolen!!!!) I have tried searching the original listing on Ebay but is not accessible. Does anyone know of a member in Crediton/Devon who was/is selling an Aerotop. Contact detail or member name for PM would be very much appreciated. Many thanks

First of all may I say Hi to everyone and give you a bit of background. My name is Chris. I live just outside Exeter in Devon. I have until recently been very keen on Mk3 Supras and have had three over the last four years. I got the last one to almost concourse standard and I have been told by many that the car was an excellent example. However, I had a bit of a prang last month (ouch!!!) and this has caused me to think again about what I want to do in respect to cars. I love the build quality of Toyota and the Mk3 was an easy car to work on but they are now getting long in the tooth and the Mk3 scene is not that strong. I know a few people with Mk4s and they all say the same. The club scene is strong, there are loads of knowledgeable people and the cars are easy to mod with loads of parts available. My ideal car is a good condition NA aero. I know Knightrider pretty well and he has given me the taste to do something similar and I too fancy starting with an aero. I dont want the power he has but a few extra horses to call on and a nice six speed box would be on the cards. That would be a great winter project and getting a new Turbo on Xmas day would be preferable to new socks. One thing I learnt on the Mk3 scene was that the best cars are those that are owned by enthusiasts. I would therefore like to ask if anyone on here knows of or has a good NA aerotop for sale. I have a reasonable wad of cash waiting and can up/down to suit the cars offered. Its fair to say I dont have a budget and will buy based on instinct. If its good and I like it then I will probably buy it. I hope to get a car fairly soon and I am really looking forward to getting into the scene. I have lurked about for quite a bit on the forum and so I probably know a few of you through your posts. I will try to be active on the forum and cant wait to start meeting you at the shows and meets. Chris
