  1. ignition switch issue? so starter gets a start signal despite the key position being back in place?
  2. Things are always a balance, as you say with the prices now most will have had their heads turned by something newer, you've just had an extra 'family need' nudge.
  3. You need to be careful at higher revs and WOT incase the sequential system isn't working properly as sometimes it can overspeed/work the first turbo. With no first turbo at all, it'll be sluggish at low rpm's? If you were overtaking it sounds like the lag may have been from the 2nd turbo transition and/or second turbo problem? Switching to TTC for a bit can give some good info and will protect the first turbo Look at the link and try and see if you have problem 1, 2, 3 or 4?
  4. Stevie can I take this please. I can do most evenings re collection just let me know, cheers
  5. Gear surround and window switch is likely to be where the original coating was worn and someone has removed the lot so it looks better/not as bad?
  6. Well you'll be pleased to know your heated seats button is now worth £500! get a new battery on the shopping list pronto! It's nice to hear of people mothing balling, perhaps not surprising as back when you laid it up they weren't worth much at all?
  7. Personally I think it's insurer BS re the not allowing to retain it, I spose they might deemed it more likely to be a fraudulent claim or something? Otherwise I don't see their logic. I actually don't know a case of someone not being able to retain their car, and accept most owners of newer/white goods type cars are happy to see the back of the car if it's written off?
  8. I think it just means you have the right to have it back? I don't think it's a certainty on some policies ie you just get a payout and don't even have the option to retain the car?
  9. Congrats on the purchase and good to see you making instant use of it, getting rare to see them out and about these days.

    Hello again

A few, some in the background but inactive I think? Less usage of the cars these days, glad you managed to keep hold of it and are dusting it off and giving it a new lease of life. Fingers crossed you got it started today or at least made some useful progress.

    Hello again

I remember the name from way way back, why the storage for all these years? Glad you kept it and deciding to recommission it
  12. So I guess is the 55% you'll get just over £9k? enough to get it repaired nicely? If they are offering a write off value it seems very low, there is not one for sale anywhere of that level is there?
  13. I don't think the percentage is normal, it's a lot lower. But then your heated seat switch is £500 worth! Hard to say without knowing the damage and offer amount? ie can/will you break it or repair it? Seem very high without more info
  14. this is another useful thread, it is going to be a (hopefully short) process of elimination..........
  15. The link pipes are what supraGZaero posted about too, but it seems those were replaced too, so won't be restricting (could still be leaking) I think TTC mod takes minutes and can help diagnose. What quality of hose was used? Do you have an after market blow off valve?
  16. In TTC it can boost higher than normal so watch out if it used to be 1.2-1.25 as above that is getting into dangerous territory! If the car runs and boosts well like this then I think the vsv's or what they operate are likely to blame. Did you replace the two link pipes between the turbos and intake?
  17. This is temporary testing method. Your exhaust will sound louder on startup and the boost curve is lower (will feel lethargic at lower revs, but it might boost higher/more stable (go steady and build it up before doing a higher boost run. Try it and see/report back
  18. An old way to help rule some things in or out was to remove the sequential operation temporarily. True twin mode. I'm searching for ETTC and TTC to try and find you some relevant info. Essentially you swap a few boost pipes around and then the turbos are sequential and then if you get better boost it teels you x could be the issue, if the boost is still low y could be (it just helps you track down the problem)
  19. I remember tightening mine a little after first fitting, they seem to settle/bed in. Also there are a few points to use sealant on them (round the cam 'arch' bits?)
  20. That's like Cat thefts, they often cut after both cat joints and so it's multiple exhaust parts not just the already very expensive cat that need replacing
  21. Some decent info in here too
  22. I think the recent price rises have made us all think a bit at times. Fastphil has not taken the Mick with the price and sold it without much advertising, just wanted some more than the p/x offer and got it. Mines a bit more tatty than his, so I just convince myself it'll be a tough sell as is, but really I know it has to sell at the NA advertised prices level which is still very healthy! Bit of a crossroads 1) lack of use, value high so sell, vs you love it, what would you do with the money, you might never have another. I think after all this time I'd be ok with either, but right now sitting tight and just trying to use it as much as possible.
