Yeah the V5 part i looked into as the small print says the scrapped car needs to be registered to the owner for a minimum of 12 months and also the new car has to be registered to the same person. I will see what the dealer says. The thinking was to literally rip out anything i could punt on to make a few extra quid and leave it with 4 wheels, steering wheel and an engine lol. Even considered taking off the t-bar panels and the passengers seat out as it's full leather and absolute mint but that might be pushing it a bit ! I'm being cynical thinking the dealer would just sell the scrap onto a breakers who would then make their money back on my parts! Or does it literally all just get thrown in the crusher intact. As the title says was wondering if anyone has got rid of their old car and taken advantage of the governments scrappage scheme yet ? I've search high and low on the internet without much joy. May sound a silly question but i was wondering how the old car is actually disposed of. Might sound daft but my understanding is that is needs to be taxed, MOT'd and owned for over a year by the current owner. I can't see anything saying it needs to be functioning. Can anyone confirm ? Reason i am asking is i was considering using my old MR2 in order to help my folks out a bit with a saving on their new car since they've always been good to me would be nice to give something back now i am a bit older. Only minor issue is the V5 would have to go in my name for the new motor initially as it has to match the details of the car traded in but thats not a big problem. Here is my theory though. Assuming all you need to do is have it registered, taxed, mot'd, etc and such like which it currently is. Would there be anything to stop me literally stripping it out of everything which has potential re-sale value as spares and leaving basically a shell to be scrapped? This might sound daft but it was a suggestion from a friend which i'd never given a second thought to till tonight. As i said i've looked around the net and couldn't see any direct answer?

Happened to my MR2 about six months ago. Like you say it was only £50 window excess but it's the point that people would do it. Thankfully it turned out to be kids messing about hitting stones with a cricket bat (!!!) and they admitted it next time they saw me around which restored my faith slightly. Next house i move to i want a garage !

You're probably looking at being charged around £1 per 100mb you go over as a rounded up figure if thats what you're looking for ?

Coming along from Braehead last night towards Renrfew someone appeared to have lost it coming off a small roundabout at low speed and went sidey ways into the kerb. Left side front and back wheels buckled horizontal making it look like the back to the future car No sign of driver but wouldn't imagine anyone was hurt, looked horrid though for what would have been a very small speed impact Was a red supra M or N reg - nobody on here i hope.

Taylor v Thornton (4-0) Lewis v McDine (4-0) Shepherd v Webster Stompe v Dudbridge Jenkins v Whitlock Wade v Hamilton Baxter v Lloyd Painter v Barneveld Been struggling to work out the brackets and might have got the seedings wrong but it potentially lines up a Barneveld v Wade semi-final if i'm reading it correctly. If Taylor gets by Lewis it would be very hard to see him losing to anyone in that half of the draw though i would fancy Dudbridge ahead of the others to make up the other semi-final with Taylor. Good fun as always though and a very high standard. Shudder to think how much bigger the gulf in class will be when the BBC version huffs and puffs it's way through the new year.
