I have a Netgear Wireless-N router downstairs. It connects directly to my modem, my PS3, Wii and Xbox360 via ethernet cable. My PC is about 6 feet away in the cupboard and has a fantastic signal at all times. The laptops all function fantastically with line of sight. The problem I have is that as soon as I go upstairs the signal drops quite a bit. It's still there, just nowhere near as strong for the puny antenae in the laptop or in the PS3 etc.
I have another router (WRT610N) and what I was hoping to do was directly wire in the things upstairs so that they would use the routers wireless range rather than their own. I am unsure how to configure the WRT to do this, I am also unsure of what I am essentially trying to make the WRT into.. is it a bridge? A repeater? An access point?
Googling is about as clear as mud. IMO I want it to be an access point but various searches haven't brought me any closer to the answer so I was wondering if I am perhaps missing some terminology or something?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
