  1. That doesn't seem particularly good considering the power and weight, does it? According to the above, it's 5.5 secs from 60-100mph. I know my BPU supra (auto) will do it in 5.1 secs. Unless that's just down to extra gear changes in the Ferrari.
  2. Yeah, that programme sank Sky One to a new low. I only watched it as the company I work for did the timing for the cars. I know the guy who was in the background holding the laptop and he is sooo gonna get the piss taken out of him tomorrow at work
  3. Interesting viewpoint. I wouldn't be happy buying anything stolen. The people selling them will steal more of them to meet demand. Would you be equally comfortable stealing one yourself?
  4. That's a pretty stupid alarm design! My Toad alarm locks the doors after the car is started, but only if a door hasn't been opened in the meantime. That way it won't lock the door if you are potentially out of the car.
  5. Ebay (or making your own cable) is cheapest, but try Videk: http://www.videkonline.co.uk/home.asp?page=SubSections&ChapterID=28&SectionID=184#3070-10 They look to have what you're after. I've ordered stuff from there before and they are quite good.
  6. heheh. That's what I'm there for! Actually, I'd better learn about starter motors tonight so I'm not completely useless
  7. Cheers Rich, it's my car with the dead starter. I'm going round to Jamie's on Saturday and if I can't get it started, I'll just call the AA to transport me
  8. That's the funniest thing I've read all evening :D :D

    A bit pissed

How did you pay for it? If it was with PayPal, I believe you can submit a complaint saying the goods are not "substantially as described". PayPal can freeze the seller's account, which is a good motivation for them to sort it out with you. If you paid by credit card, just take it up with the credit card company.
  10. You'll be fine - just avoid driving under ladders and running over black cats
  11. I had a Sony 1Gb flash walkman where the battery lasted for 50 hours, but the supplied software was so bad as to render it unusable. You can't even use alternative software. Get the new 30Gb iPod. They are only 190 quid on Amazon.
  12. A very sad story I've just checked my insurance docs and I'm also insured with Ensign. I shall carefully consider whether or not to stick with Sky Insurance when my renewal comes up.
  13. clickity-click..... http://www.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jamesg/misc/redbutton.jpg
  14. Have you ever considered a new career as a close-up photographer?
  15. The diseased part will work its way along your finger, up your arm, into your brain and cause screwdriver poisoning - the most incredibly painful way to die there is ...other than that you'll be fine
  16. Can't believe how good my car feels in cold weather. You'd think I'd be used to it by now after nearly 4 years of ownership! I recorded this video on my phone on a errr... private test track 60-100mph in 5 secs which is about a second faster than I thought it did 25022006.avi
  17. A list of the specs is here (second post down): http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=268805&highlight=claritas and here's a recent pic
  18. Jake, I've spent quite a lot of time putting my HTPC together and setting it up. I'm using MCE2005, which is sufficiently good that I always watch my TV through it. I've also set up an Xbox Media Extender, so I can stream live TV wirelessly across my network to elsewhere in the house. It all works really well now Any questions, just ask and I'll see if I can help.
  19. I'm on the NTL 2Mbit service and would love to upgrade to 10MBit, but I read that if I moved to the new service, there would be a maximum download limit of 75Gb/month. Anyone know if this is still true?
  20. I didn't know Nokia produced sat nav software. I've got TomTom on my Nokia. Is that what you're thinking of?
  21. Yes I am, and in fact my job involves writing electronic control strategies such as traction control But I still don't like the idea of too many driver aids. I want my car to be challenging to drive - and rewarding when I get it right. If I wanted the fastest point-to-point car, I'd buy a Skyline or an Evo rather than a Supra.
  22. Just to present the argument for not having RLTC...In the past, I've seriously considered having it installed. I have absolutely no doubt that it would make my car safer and more capable. However, I think having the ability to predict and control slip with my right foot is important. Surely RLTC takes away the need for this to some extent? I wouldn't want to get into another powerful car and wrap it round a tree due to expecting the same level of traction control as RLTC. Obviously, I'm in the minority here
