  1. The bonus is written into the contract, stating the minimum payout is X% blah blah blah, but it doesn't say anything about being paid pro-rata if redundant - only mentions pro-rata if you didn't start at the beginning of the bonus year. Another thing to mention is that I'm 2 weeks away from signing new contracts with the new company. This new contract gives me a guaranteed severance pay, compared to the £0 legally in the current situation. I'm assuming they are cutting us off quick so that they don't have to give me this.....
  2. crap, that is kinda what I thought tho. The new company hemorrhages money left right and centre anyway, so hopefully a few £kkk will come my way to keep me on my feet at xmas.... Also F00kin pants bearing in mind I've only been in my new house for 1 month, so if i don't find new work quickly and fall behind on mortgage I'm 100% royally screwed I'm hoping I'm intelligent enough and needed to find work, even if it's temporary, to keep me going though. I'm not going down without a bloomin good fight!
  3. Hey All, Just wanted your opinions/comments on the below really. Brief overview - the company i work for has been bought out by a huge corporation, and now they are consolidating sites etc. This has been going on for 11 months so far. Our office consolidates into their facilities on 8th December. I am responsible for moving all physical IT servers/racks/kit, and for ensuring it all works at the other end. I have a meeting at work tomorrow, (1 on 1 with management) as do a few other IT employee's in our company. Management refuse to tell me what it is about, but we all know it is going to be a redundancy meeting, leaving us without a job. They have already cut 90% of IT in the USA. This makes the 2nd week in December my last week in a job. Nice Xmas present, huh? This is also about a week after the office has moved. Anyway - onto the reason for the thread. 1. Our Bonus scheme works from Jan - Jan. I am told that you have to be with the company in Jan to qualify for the bonus, which is then paid in April. Where do I stand legally if I am made redundant 2 weeks before January? Do they have to give me a bonus, pro-rata? Or is this at the employers choice? 2. I have been working for the company 2.5years (25yrs old) but only 1.5years as a permanent employee. This means (i think) that legally they have to give me NO redundancy package what-so-ever. Is this true? Do most companies give something anyway? 3. Because I am responsible for a huge amount of work in moving stuff to the new office, can the company expect me to work to the very end, not allowing me to use my holiday and paying me instead, and making me do the overtime required at weekends to move/install and configure the equipment??? Obviously I could be a right b*stard and refuse overtime, and this would leave them up sh*t creak, but then they could refuse to give me a reference. I could work my a*se off, and then not get anything for it? Comments please peeps - I think they'll probably end up giving me something to try and keep the peace, but I want to know where I stand before the meeting tomorrow so I can ask questions and make sure they don't blind me with crap. Thanks!
  4. Good question, and no idea I'm afraid. But I believe the F86 is a good £300 more than the M86/87, so for that reason alone I wouldn't get one.
  5. The Samsung F86 seems to be a good tv as well, but also seems that people cannot justify the extra money over the M86/M87 for the little extra they gain. (Apparently the 100Hz isn't all it's cracked up to be) Almost certain I'll get the Samsung after xmas in the Sales (I'm assuming it'll still be about then) - not just because it might be cheaper, but it's kinda a joint xmas pressie!
  6. it seems that these Samsung LCD's are highly rated, but according to the threads on avforums it also seems that many different variations and quality units (although the same model number) exist. Also seems to be some mention of almost 1 in 5 being faulty, or dodgy one way or another. I still think it's one I'll go for though! Been looking into it for a while.
  7. if no sound card appears in device manager, right click on the computer right at the top of the list, and select "scan for hardware changes". This should detect the soundcard, and if the driver is still present on the machine it'll install it. If not, it'll prompt you to download one from windows update. If there isn't one there, then at least you'll have a make/model of card listed in device manager for you to go to their website and download the right one.
  8. yeh, what he said - and make sure the volume control is turned up, and that you haven't pressed the mute button
  9. USB sockets are also used for firmware updates on some screens, and I believe memory sticks with photos on.
  10. Has anyone got one of the later Samsung models - the M87 / F87 ranges? Are they a big improvement over this model - I do read on AV forums that Samsungs seem to be a 50% chance of getting one that actually works properly.... Anyone here had a bad set?
  11. sorry to drag up an old-ish thread...... Do people still rave about this Samsung model? Can anyone give me the exact model number to find out latest price etc? I want a 40/42" LCD that is FULL HD. I also want a decent DVD player to go with it, and I want to wall mount it. Not bothered about sound quality as I have an awesome surround-sound system already. Ta

I'm also on the lookout for a 40/42" LCD or Plasma in the next few months - again we're hoping to wait until after xmas - the missus and I want to go halfs as our xmas pressie to each other Group buy anyone??? :D:D

  16. Fender Strat provisionally sold. Interest in most of the other gear - prices are not set in stone so if interested you can always make me an offer. I live in Basingstoke - work in Reading - so can meet people in near area for collection. Postage will be an issue though
  17. 18. More questions answered: The mixer unit does NOT have a built-in recorder - but has many outputs, preouts, and tape-outs that can be plugged directly into multitrack, tape or cd units to record. Jap strat can be supplied with both pickguards if wanted. More pics can also been supplied - email for info and I will try and take some soon.
  19. Let me just clarify something here, as I've been very suprised at the HUGE interest in the 2 project guitars I have. The LP-style guitar is/was an unknown brand - it is not a real Gibson or Epiphone. I think the body is made of plywood as well, so it's nothing special (as mentioned before) The Jackson-style guitar was an Aria Pro guitar - again not a real Jackson, but the same shape/headstock as one. Sorry if there has been confusion - but these are project guitars - not the real thing.
  20. I may even have the full documents/in-progress photos showing my progress as I went. The idea was that these were GCSE / A-level projects for school/college, with custom electronics etc, but after buying the guitars the lecturers decided to not let me go ahead with the projects and to do something else instead.
  21. TBH it's a bad pic. The guitar had some custom artwork created for it - the bit you are pointing to is a samurai warrior holding a sword. On the headstock of the guitar is the japanese symbol for Samurai (supposedly, although it could say something different lol) To get it off - well it's basically been stuck on to the guitar (self-adhesive) and then lacquer has been applied over top. I would guesstimate that if you wanted to remove it, you'd be best doing an entire new paintjob. The paint on that guitar is quite soft anyway, and quite thin, so this should be quite easy. I am not trying to put people off here - but these two guitars they are not in great shape - they play but need setting up, and the paint jobs came from individual spray-cans rather than a proper-pro job. The blue jackson-style guitar needs a total repaint of the headstock as the lacquer has badly cracked (like a spider-web) due to temperature changes, and the Les-Paul-style guitar also needs a plastic back-plate to cover the electrics inside. If anyone is genuinely interested in either of these, PM or email me and I will give as much information as I can - for example the electrics in the Les-paul use push/pull-pots to tap into the humbucker pickups to create single-coils instead..... I won't go into too much detail here though as I didn't/don't expect much interest TBH.
  22. Hi All, Having a bit of a clearout at the moment as I have too much STUFF in the new house! All prices are negociable - however postage on any of this lot is probably not going to be possible - so collection or meeting people is a must. 1) Fender Strat Squire 91 (Early Squire, better than the more recent versions) Cream body/white pickguard/pickups etc. Made in Japan, not the cheaper Mexico/Korea/China versions! Few minor dings, but otherwise a great guitar. Comes with hard case & tremelo arm. Japanese models are few and far between now - and they are the next best thing to the US versions! Pic here (THE PICKGUARD is not the one shown - this was a moment of madness lol) : http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/godatguitar/Guitars/strat.jpg Asking price: £110 ono (Was £220 new + £30 case) ************************** 2)Aria electro/semi acoustic guitar, green/black sunburst colour, plastic back, built in eq unit, MINT condition (virtually brand new), and comes with Freestyle moulded hard-case. Pic here: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/godatguitar/Guitars/aria.jpg Asking price: £110 ono. (Was £160 new + £45 case) **************************** 3)Spirit folio fx16 mixer desk, mint condition, never gigged, 16 channels, sub-channels, built in lexicon effects, comes with flightcase, psu and instruction manual. Very light use in home studio only. Virtually BRAND NEW condition, and cost in excess of £800 new. Pic here: (not the actual item as I don't have a photo) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/godatguitar/Guitars/foliofx16big.jpg Asking price: £210 ono. **************************** 4) & 5) Custom built guitars. A brief bit of info here: These guitars were purchased in aweful condition, and I then took up each one as a project to do them up, fix them and see what I could do. To be honest, both need to be properly set up, but otherwise not too bad I think! Doubt anyone will want to purchase either, but I don't think I really have the space to keep them, so could be sold as spares/repairs or parts really. They do have some good hardware on though. Asking price: £Offers, but in region of £50-70 each perhaps? Pics here:http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/godatguitar/Guitars/lespaul.jpg and here: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j241/godatguitar/Guitars/jackson.jpg ********************** Email me: [email protected] for any more info. Thanks
  23. i can confirm that the dealer prices for things such as leather or "sports" gearknobs for all VAG cars are expensive - the SEAT one I have was listed at £85. However - maybe one thing for you to try, but only a suggestion - you MAY find that VW/SEAT/SKODA make a decent knob that'll fit the audi because of the same platform, and you'll also find that they'll be a fair bit cheaper than from Audi. Sounds nuts - but listen to this - the SEAT Altea and Leon both have identical gearknobs - but the Leon version is £25 more than the Altea one! And they are identical!
  24. Well I paid £105 fitted for my GSD3's fitted to my current car, which was a good price. But that was in the 225/40/R18 format, of which are probably considerably smaller in width than the ones Supra's need....?? £94 sounds too cheap!
