  1. I'd love to know more about Avaya stuff too. I administer the Avaya systems here at work - use ASA and I know the basics about how to enable IP softphone on an extension, reset extension passwords, change names etc. Exactly the same happened to me at work - Telco guy left, they threw the work at me, but refused to send me on any courses
  2. Well I didn't expect to see this thread turn into LCV vs Plasma (no, really I didn't) but I think Michael hit the nail on the head with his previous post.... For me - 40" LCD 1080p is what I'm having to replace my Sony 32" 100hz CRT - At least one thing is that I'll finally be able to reclaim the 5 or so sq-feet of my front room
  3. I'm waiting until after xmas - when I worked in a retail store I remember seeing prices either increase, or at least stay high until just after xmas - Boxing day etc was the start of price drops to get rid of excess stock. Depends how impatient you are - put it this way - prices are less likely to go UP in the January sales....
  4. ok - 60GB hdd is now gone, but I've found another 40GB drive! lol This one's a Toshiba 40GB MK4025GAS. Same price as other 40GB.
  5. There are many different brands of this stuff out there, although I can't remember the name of many apart from Armorfend. This thread might help you: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=125005&highlight=scotchguard
  6. I'll probably need to start a new thread for the rest of the IT gear as and when I get round to sorting it all out!
  7. review on 5th gear was that all octane booster actually lost in the region of 2bhp (or was it 2%??) - so I wouldn't bother. I can almost confirm this as well - used it for an RR day with adverse affects - or at least it certainly did NOT do any good.
  8. Payment recieved for the 80gb and caddy - thanks Wazz72 I'll get it posted tomorrow hopefully.
  9. Homer - you don't happen to know what type of HDD is in this laptop do you? I've got a few HDD's going at the mo, and Rob has asked if mine will fit this laptop, but I'm not 100% sure....
  10. OOhhhh sorry Michael - you were pipped to the post by 1 minute..... 80GB HDD and caddy sold to Wazz72.
  11. Hey All, Having a bit of a clearout of a lot of my old IT kit, so have for sale the following: 1 x Hitachi 20GB Laptop Hard Drive in a USB Caddy - Model DK23BA-20 - Comes with Dual USB Cable, caddy, and soft case. 1 x Hitachi 40GB Laptop Hard Drive - Model DK23FB-40 (5400rpm) 1 x Hitachi IBM Travelstar 60GB Laptop Hard Drive - Model IC25N060ATMR04-0 (4200rpm) 1 x BRAND NEW (Sealed) Hitachi 80GB Laptop Hard Drive - Model HTS541080G9AT00 (5400rpm) To be honest, I expect the caddy can be sold with any of the hard drives themselves - obviously at the buyers choice. PM me if interested! Thanks!
  12. I also expect, for that kind of money, it'll be back on again and again. And again.

    A@£holes

that sucks mate - sorry to hear it This is exactly the reason why I wanted, and purchased, a house with a garage. Bl*ody w*nkers.
  14. All guitars now sold pending payment - some bass guitars being sold on behalf of my dad very shortly!

    Mobile phone

you might want to specify things you are looking for in a phone, and price you want to pay, otherwise the replies will be very varied. I always like SE stuff myself - don't by Moto unless you're mad! lol
  16. My dad has one of those for his bikes, as he can only ever ride one at a time Never had a problem with it either!
  17. Jackson-style guitar and Les-Paul style guitar now both on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130180470524&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=003 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130180472593&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=003
  18. Sky+'d for both Borat AND Nacho Libre But the missus is making me watch Garfield 2 on another movie channel I don't pay for the movie channels, but we have them free for a month - so I'm recording all the films I possibly can now hehe
  19. yeh, from reading that seems to be the case - many different ways to achieve the same results from different manufacturers. They've asked me in for a face-to-face interview next week (which I probably can't make anyway because of our site-move and being ultra-busy) but I think I may have made myself out to look far more intelligent than I actually am from answering YES to that question......
  20. hmmm ok might have to see if i can get hold of that...... i come from purely an MS background, just finished the 270/271 and 272 exams, and got 70-290 booked for Jan. Trying to learn a lot quickly but think this is biting off more than I can chew.... Long story short - I think I said yes to something on a phone interview without thinking, and looking back said yes to knowing my way about SAN's when I really don't :S oops....
  21. Hey all IT folk on here...... If I were totally clueless when it comes to SANs, how easy is it to pick up the basics to a level whereby I could create usable logical drives for a Windows Server 2k3 system??? I think I have some very BASIC knowledge, but wouldn't really know where to start.... I understand from some basic research that you generally have 2 fibre cards in each server (HBA's) connecting to different fabrics of the SAN - allowing for redundancy should one of the cards/switches fall over, correct? Also get the idea that you have arrays of discs, which are then configured with "addresses" (LUNs) which can then be assigned to certain/individual hosts.... Does anyone have some useful links that would take me through step by step? Can anyone suggest what key skills one would require to set up a basic SAN? TIA all
  22. gotcha - cheers chaps. I'm not really worried about initial cost of car - it's the running of the vehicle that would worry me, as I want to a) keep it in good condition and working order and b) still be able to afford the petrol/tax/insurance on a yearly basis for a good few years. I will forget the Altezza for now then - maybe one day - but at the moment I seek something a bit more "fun"
  23. ah ha - thanks for that. Would I be right in assuming that your Altezza is standard? Ever thought of putting some more power into it? Surely more power would make it more fun, and perhaps a better car? Or not?
  24. thanks mate! Should be fine i think - so long as I start getting some interviews soon
