  1. Ok - let me re-word the question, as further investigation has helped me a little. Who has Sky Broadband? Is it good/bad? Is it reliable??? I'm hearing mixed comments - it'd save me a little bit of cash if I went for it, otherwise I'd go with Sky tv and then a different BB supplier. Thanks
  2. I thought I had this sorted until I looked further into it, and now I'm stumped New house we are buying is in Basingstoke. According to postcode checks, we are NOT able to get Cable tv services (so no Virgin etc). Also, according to some checks, we are only able to receive 512kbs ADSL - which is incredibly slow IMO (although it's all we currently have in our flat). I hope it's not true, but if it is so be it. We need a decent package that contains Broadband internet, Digital TV, and phone. I'm assuming that it only leaves Sky as an option for TV??? I see Tiscali etc advertising tv as well, but not sure how this works? For those of you in Basingstoke, who are you with, and what speed are you running at? Does anyone have any recommendations? Currently with BT, but paying through the nose for the naff speeds we have, and we have cable tv which we obviously can't take with us. I was going to go with Sky's 3 for £26 deal, but if we can only have 1/2MB internet, and need to add the £11 BT rental on top, it seems that the £37 we'd be paying wouldn't really get us much. Suggestions/comments/recommendations please peeps! Thanks
  3. "Excellent ,Smithers".... as Mr Burns would say

    spelling?

With predictive text, I always used to write in full, without dropping to "text-speak". However, now I have a PDA-type phone with full qwerty keyboard, it takes me hours to send a text message, so I'm starting to type texts in that dreaded way Hasn't affected my spelling otherwise though
  5. first-time buyers - but they can't pull out now.... SOOOO CLOSE! We've got the dates for completion too, although these are not fixed until we exchange We've been waiting for about 3 weeks for the ID to reach the mortgage broker, and the mortgage offer to be given. Everything else is done - deposit moneys are ready too. I just hope that it'll be done this week, as the people we're buying from return from holiday a couple of days later, and if we haven't exchanged by then they will not be happy.
  6. lets just say my avatars expression is an understatement....... If it doesn't happen this week, it doesn't happen at all.
  7. Well folks, STILL not exchanged Our buyer has been messing us about for 3 weeks now - we should have exchanged ages ago and still nothing - we've got about 1 week left until the sh*t hits the fan, and people in the chain seriously consider pulling out... Sodding annoying really, as we keep getting told he is waiting for his Mortgage offer - this is the ONLY thing left (apart from mortgage deeds) and it's worrying the hell out of us because if he doesn't get offered what he needs we're screwed I'll be pestering estate agents and solicitors AGAIN on monday, but I'm getting fed up that neither of these are being pro-active and chasing/informing us. I feel letters of complaint going to both once/if we move.

    Oh the torture!

oh ok - I'm sure the box I have here somewhere is one of the dark green/black PACE boxes. Hope you get it sorted soon, as the std 4 channels are utter poo these days!

    Oh the torture!

what cable box is it??? I'm sure I have a couple of boxes around somewhere, although as we're moving house I don't quite know where they are at the moment.
  10. I suppose when you factor in the costs of respray, chips etc, it's a good investment
  11. Of course, in some cases (car-dependant) you can actually cover your whole car in this stuff! However, i think I'd only want to cover the front bumper/wings/bonnet. One thing I will say is I haven't seen it after it's been on a car for a while - I don't know if the edges start to lift or not, or if it maintains it's "stickyness" but I think it could look really cack if it starts coming off.... Be warned though - last time I looked at this stuff I seem to remember it being quite expensive.
  12. Or Scotchguard do similar products - video links etc here: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Scotchgard-PPF/Home/For_the/Consumer/More_Info/
  13. http://armourfend.com/ check out the examples link - trying to find example photos mind (and not just diagrams)
  14. that definately sounds like Armorfend to me. I think it is made by 3M, and they cut it specifically to shape of your car. Kinda like the plastic covering you get on new electrical items/LCD screens etc, but much thicker.
  15. Isn't the clear film called Armorfend?
  16. Apparently they are quite cheap in comparision with other tyres too. I don't have the magazine, just had a quick flick at an RR day this weekend, but I seem to remember the Eagle F1's came first, Pirelli P Zero Nero's came 6th, and Kumo's were 7th or 8th I think (not bad for a budget tyre). Can't really remember the rest I'm afraid
  17. Goodyear Eagle F1's tyres the best - the new type anyway. (Assymetrical I think)
  18. BTW, the original sale in June said it had a "faulty turbo". Make of that what you will.
  19. Here's the original thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=122986 Owner only bought it in June. Original add here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320119683757 So he's trying to make a profit on a car that is faulty, and potentially why he's trying to shift it.
  20. this car has been spoken about before, as it's been doing the rounds on ebay for a while. I seem to remember the original advert being terrible - contradicting itself, and i think it even said he was selling for a friend but then went on to say the missus wants a smaller car?!?!
  21. Usually with problems like this I start the PC with the bare minimum installed. Remove the cables & power to the HDD's, CD/DVD's, remove any unnecessary PCI cards and hardware, leaving purely the mobo, gfx card, CPU/Fan, and 1 stick of RAM. This way you can eliminate all of that hardware straight away - and leaves you with less to look at. Again I can't see a mobo battery causing the issues, but it's cheap to swap!
