  1. is the 420G the E46 M3 getrag mate?
  2. I am seriously considering doing this down the line. E46 M3 gearbox I reckon, and it would hopefully handle my power goals with no problems.
  3. Hmm, sounds like it would be worth fitting new torque converter then.
  4. Was the engine stripped and rebuilt then? Reground crank and oversized bearings? Or just replaced damaged bearings for new ones stock sized?
  5. Sounds like bottom end to me but very hard to tell. Drop the oil out and check it with a magnet for anything untoward would be a simple thing to try first. Is the oil pressure all good? . Flex plate bolts I'm guessing are correctly tightened? This can be checked relatively easily anyway, worth it to be sure.
  6. Ahh so they were out of the car when split? Not ideal but this is a good article on confirming if its torque converter or not http://etereman.com/blog/transmission-care/diagnosing-torque-converter-problems-procedures-for-all-vehicles
  7. Is this the same work done by the company who replaced the main bearings? It's gearbox 101 taking the tc out with the box...
  8. I tried various 1/2 air impact tools including a beasty CP one and they didn't touch it. In the end I used the starter method. Going to order one of these Whiffbitz 2jz pulley tool for the next time I need to use it, for that price its a no brainer!
  9. German lol What brakes are you running bignum and is it a stock motor, single turbo? Shows how stout these cars are!
  10. Paid, thanks. - - - Updated - - - Now just need to find somewhere to refurb it!
  11. I'll take this, have pmd you. Cheers
  12. Wow, looks very unmolested that one. What do we reckon on final sale price? Guesses?!
  13. No idea on the history of that engine but for me I would rather buy a stock engine than a rebuilt one unless I know who had rebuilt it and how competent they were!
  14. Jesus, that sounds an epic. I may as well book a hotel when I go down by the sounds of it!
  15. Would be interested to see what checks Greg carries out pre mapping, got mine booked in with him and will do a pre test test lol . GL
  16. Did you remove the aux belt as advised? Its a similar noise to the one I had which was the aux belt tensioner (the spring mech inside not the pulley bearing)
  17. Will post up how it goes. Sure it'll be good
  18. Not serviceable. Mine was squeaky too. Bearing change made no difference. New one from toyota did the job perfectly!
  19. I have used a guy down that way who will courier it to them safely and return it as well. Cheap too and very reliable. He has collected loads of stuff for me.
  20. If you have spent a load and are'nt sure you can do it, surely it is a false economy not to spend a bit more and get someone like SRD to do it?
  21. People talk like the supra is some magically complex engine that can only be built by a specialist. Any quality engine builder can build it back up no problem. Its a pretty basic straight six that any good engine man should be able to do in his sleep. With that said SRD are always a safe bet, know their stuff big time.
  22. Greg is booked out until at least october as I booked in with him a month or so ago! Worth the wait though..
  23. Definately worth checking battery voltage at rest and charging, and under load with lights on. As mentioned check the earths. What fuel pump are you running? Whats the cars spec?
  24. Did the car run sweetly before this issue?
