  1. First car I really remember (I count remembering as being able to remember the reg plate colour and shape) is a Red Ford Cortina they called LULU (probably down to the number plate ULU 682M). Looked something like: Most notable comments on this car - I have a memory of having the door slammed on my hand, and it disappearing from the same Leos supermarket car park twice within 2 months, only to be returned with a full tank of petrol (more than it was stolen with) and no damage within a few days each time! (Better class of car thief back in the day I guess ). After that a green Morris Marina SKG 16S - wonderfully named: Morrie! Looked a bit like this (obviously in green): http://www.necpwa.org.uk/NECPWA_New/Marina_Blog/Marina_Blog_files/shapeimage_1.jpg Bloody great car! Seemed to just keep going and going no matter what. Following that (can't remember if the car died or we traded it in) a blue 1.6 Ford Sierra A676 VNV. http://www.carpages.co.uk/ford/ford_images/ford_sierra_05_08_05.jpg This was an ok car, no real love or memories for it. It rusted like a mofo! Traded it in for way more than it was worth to move onto a slightly newer Silica Gold Sierra 2litre EFI Ghia model (E38 SWO) which in fact was doing extremely well until about a year ago (we sold it on to a friend back in the day that actually looked after it so well he pretty much rebuilt the thing over time) when it caught fire mysteriously outside his ex girlfriends house when picking up his young son (I suspect an interloper in this car's demise!). Looked a bit like this one, only seemed slightly curvier/neater (body coloured bumpers):
  2. The Mrs refers to them as: "Slut 1 - by the way when are you selling that thing?" and quite creatively, "Slut 2 - why don't you buy a car that works?". Then again she calls her Fiesta Binky!... although it really suits him
  3. I am after the rear auto box mounting rubbers/attachment (not the bracket) - my box came off and the plates that were attached to the mounting bracket seemed like they liked it way too much attached to the old box! If anyone has the part numbers or ability to supply the bits that would be great (bloody car costing too much already ).

    Large brakes

Pic of my GReddy 6 pots behind Mania 19's (about to be refurbed - this is one of my old work in progress pics... work, still in progress ). Crappy pic taken with phone but gets the general idea across. http://www.istslice.co.uk/pics/pwtmp/br1.jpg
  5. Isn't it "Sectarianist"? (Not so sure that is a real use of the word, but that would be closer ).
  6. Cheers for that Useful info on the Gaskets there Amigo. Turbo gaskets I guess would be going spare as this is going Single. I would have bugged Nic for this (I usually do), but time is of the essence as the engine is in bits now and I wont have use of the garage much beyond the end of next week Getting things priced up now by Paul
  7. Water Taxis and Gondolas... very expensive! Drinks and Food very expensive in the main areas. If you get a chance and like indian food, I think there is one Indian in the whole of Venice - Ganesh Ji. If you have a fridge and want to buy some cheap beers/food there is a place called Su Ve, hidden away and also if you get over to Lido there is a supermarket called Bille(t) (memory failing me) on the left hand side of the street as you walk towards the beach. Also on Lido, as you get off the vaporetto(sp) - head to the left and hit the zebra crossing then look to your left. Statue of Darth Vaders head which is quite a surreal thing (a tad anachronistic for Venice). From the airport I grabbed a bus to the main bus station for 3 euros, then bought a 3 day Vaporetto(sp) ticket for about 30ish euros (I think that ballpark)... Get on a Number 2 if you can as that stops less and figure out in advance where in the heck your hotel is, as nobody will know when you get there Water Taxi to the hotel was going to be about 115 euros, and that is a one way jobbie and took longer than the bus + vaps. Hope you have fun, I will hope to see the regions you mention at some point in the future! Take many pics
  8. Could be some form of (Edit: Sjogren's Syndrome - it wasn't that - it was however something similar yet less nasty, it was still autoimmune but it only affected her hands and be badgered if I can remember what it was called?) My friends wife had this and it presented initially as discolouration between the fingers then spread up the hand. Halted by topical steroid creams. Possibly not though, just another one to toss out there for hypochondriacs to start suffering
  9. Ah must have been you, sounds about right If not in the Supe usually in a black 03 fiesta - so if you see a chap in a black fiesta waving madly at you around the reading area, it is probably me - and yes I am nuts!
  10. Hi All, I am after some parts and pricing, if anyone has these preferably for a quick order (needed this week), I would be most appreciative. (Forgot to mention 1993 TT J-Spec Auto). Some part numbers I have found via searching and bugging various folk, some I can't seem to find: Parts I can't find numbers for: Thermostat Coil pack connectors Oil filter unit (part that the oil filter attaches to seems to : name?) Lower cam cover Parts I have numbers for (I did use the search facility honest!): Oil pump 15100-46052 Water pump 16100-49846 Drive belt tensioner 16620-0W025 Crank seal 90311-46001 (Cam belt) t-belt ilder 13505-46041 (Cam belt) t-belt tensioner 13540-46030 Cam cover gaskets 11213-46020 & 11214-46011 (I found ordering just 11213-46020 gave me 1 seal from local Mr T previously!?). Cam seals 90311-40020 Parts I am unsure of: I am after: Full head gasket set Gasket set 04111-46094 (Which gasket set would this be?) I notice Paul @ Whifbitz does a full engine gasket set, wondering if this is appropriate or overkill. Also if anyone can supply the below items would be cool: Greddy alloy top rad hose ARP head stud kit HKS 1.2mm head gasket Cheers, Simon.
  11. Can't remember reg (M 3****) something or other - I'm getting old) - youngish bloke with girlfriend (?) en towe wearing sun glasses Saturday evening between 6-7 pm came off on Junction 11 M4 (after hooning past me at some leptons ). Followed you on my way back from Bristol (dropping mate off at his new place) in a hired Arrow transit van Went past you at one point and you hoofed it past me a bit later. Caught up with you a few times, thought I better not wave at you furiously as you would think I was a nutter p.s. I could swear there was a white one on the opposing carriage way about 6:45pm but no details on that.
  12. I generally don't use IE, but it pillaged everything from my Firefox settings. Fairly quick, and no problems with using some of the more popular JavaScript libraries so far.
  13. Congratulations Apparently the first 30 years are the worst!
  14. ..suggesting an emergency landing off the Damrak in Amsterdam and hit a few coffee houses?
  15. An abject lesson in how to create a well presented professional and attractive web presence. Keep it in the family!
  16. I have had neat nail holes repaired successfully in the tread for 15 notes. If it is ragged/slash like then there is less likelihood it can be repaired and you will be shelling out - last one was a 15mm ragged gash on the offside rear wheel on the inner side wall about 25mm up the side... really unlucky random debris damage! Sides = death, neat tread facing damage seems to repairable for the mean time (depends on how deep your pockets and paranoid you are - but I was assured the fix would be fine when I had mine done).
  17. Parked up at Dinton Pastures (local nature spot) and a youngster (5-6) was explaining to his mother: Mum, that is a Toyota... Very good, what sort of Toyota is it? Umm... Corolla? - Woman at random insurance company: Ok, so that is a Toyota Subaru right? >.

    Audi quattro

Kevlar was developed by DuPont circa 1965 by an American chemist Steph Kwolek (sp) IIRC. Not sure when it was first commercially used though. Edit: Why don't I just wiki it every time.. seems it was commercially used for the first time in 1970 as a replacement for steel in racing tyres! (Don't remember them telling us that in my polymer chemistry module - maybe I was hung over ).
  19. I have vague memories of introducing my elbow to an opponents chin after they demonstrated the En passant move during a chess club meet back in school... apparently elbows were definitely not allowed and En passant was legit, who'd have thought?
  20. One would hazard the English terms: Ragged the tits off, WOT, Hammered, Nailed it around, generally boisterously hoofing the right foot? (general way of telling if your 12 year old+ ailing car is truly fubar ... and not performing like 2 year old car ) Edit: Not meaning to sound mean btw These cars - well some of them - are quite old, and need a bit of TLC, and cannot be expected to be ideal runners (especially if someone either hasn't maintained them or has badly tuned them), unless in the care of a sympathetic individual - mind you - saying that, some of these Supras can take quite a bit of abuse and not fail!
  21. I actually hadn't seen or signed the petition, I was simply chuckling about the whole thing after being pointed at it. I thought it was a daft / funny response of sorts - and as for the Daily Mail - good grief do they bitch. I don't normally read it I just found the pertinent link indirectly while searching for a re-post on here . Oh and I love the "New Thread" keyword matching stuff, that works a treat! p.s. the government sucks!
  22. I am not sure if this repost material, but apprently for those that signed the petition to make Clarkson PM - the result is in: No. 10's official response The Daily Mail's take on it Daft as a badgers arm pits!
  23. Ring NHS direct and talk to someone about it they should be able to refer you to your local out of hours practice where they will usually see you quite quickly (I did this for my legs when I had sudden unexplained painful calf muscles *panicky moment*). I was down the out of hours clinic and having blood tests within 20 minutes - I too don't relish the old A&E wait and was pleasantly surprised by this.
  24. 3 Supras + 1 in spirit Shame about the weather but a few nice folk to chat to and some shiny stuff. Nice to finally meet some folk from the board! (I really ought to get out more). That T88 was an interesting car!
