Sky Insurance - best policy, best price, best service

Sky wouldn't insure my Supra because I lived an a post code that fell out of their scheme. They point blank refused to consider approaching other insurers when I asked so they couldn't quote. They call themselves a broker but what they actually doing is putting us on is a scheme (binder) with limited insurers and certain rules and if they can't write it then they aren't interested in trying alternative markets. Their perogative but I'm disappointed by the approach.

 

I placed my insurance with who quoted £535 for a UK spec BPU with 6 years no claims. They were polite (no attitude) and from memory they opened longer hours.

 

Sky have just contacted me re the renewal of my 1 series BMW. They want £547 which is £230 more than ESure and more expensive than a BPU TT Supra. Bit of a joke really. I won't be renewing with them.

 

Don't ever take the first price an insurance company offers. It's a scam they all pull to draw people who don't shop around in. Giving them a call will quite often find you with a much better price.

Thanks for the advice pal. I know that and did look around. Just didn't want to bore everyone with my woes! :)

Not impressed with these lot this year.. What has happend to them!

Moved the misses car to Tesco and saved £300; not only that, the mix up on the phone when trying to speak to them was if not annoying comical..

 

Not only do they now want £50 admin to cancel even when in my 14 days cool off period thing, they also will only cancel if I send a letter in to prove it is actually me! Seriously, who is gonna impersonate me and cancel my insurance and have to pay £91 in the process of their own money? Crazy!

 

If anyone gets close with a quote for the Supra this year, then that will be moving away from these as well.

Sorry to hear you are disappointed but the £50 cancellation fee is a charge for the work we do setting up the policy, issuing documentation etc. The 14 days period you refer to does not mean you cancel and do not get charged. We do require written cancellation requests. If there are any communication issues then feel free to contact us via the forum with your contact details and we can call you.

These lot want to charge me £250 for the cancellation of a policy now in which I was quoted £91 in the cool off period and seeing as I have a letter from them confirming they received my wish to cancel within the 14 day cool off period (Oct 9th) The only reason this has gone on for so long is that they said they could price match Tesco and this has been one long struggle to try and get sorted and only had one call back to update me where I have rung them 5+ times!

 

Now, when my patience has run out and I want to just get things sorted and move on they want to charge me this silly amount.

 

Peugeot is going from this lot and I am taking the Supra as well. NEVER gonna use these again..

 

Best Policy - Debatable

Best Price - Nowhere near

Best Service - Havin' a laugh

 

Gonna just cancel the monthly now and they can take me to court for the rest as I think I have a good case with the letter confirming my cancellation within the 14 day cool off..

I thought it would be best if I answered your complaint, as I looked into your cancellation yesterday. I am sorry we couldn't price match the rate you had elsewhere. Price matches have to be on a like for like basis, and our records show you have nil bonus but the alternative quote was based on two years. Once I had declined the price match I authorised the customer service clerk to contact you and agree the original cancellation rate. According to the notes on our system this appears to have been done. Is that correct?

I did the quote with 1 years no claims. Ill be honest its just one big mix up because I have two documents from yourselves, one showing 0 NCB and a later documents showing we had 1 NCB, so I used that on the quote.

I was told though that this should not be a problem and they just had to check with their manager who must spend all day in meetings that it was ok and they would let me know... Which they did not, I had to chase again.

 

No idea where the 2 years came from as I am sure I did it on 1 years no claims.

 

Just out of interest, does a 1 year difference in a NCB reuselt in a £300 difference in premium..

 

Like I said, I would be happy to pay the £90 to cancel this which I was told initially, but not now the £250! I have already paid £78 for the first month payments of the mega high premium of £720 for a diesel 308.

 

What I am trying to say is from the keeping me on the line doing all this price match instead of cancelling the policy when I requested it now making me pay £250 and the £78 I have already paid against the £91 I was happy to do.

Just to clear things up so there is no mix up. You do not have any NCB on your 308. Sorry if there has been some confusion over that. When you contacted us to cancel your policy because you had got a cheaper price elsewhere, we advised of our price match facility, subject to proof. However the proof you supplied from Tesco was based on two years NCB and therefore was not like for like. So we could not match this price. You advised us to proceed with the cancellation of your policy. We have now done this and agreed to keep the original cancellation charge of £92. Having said that you have only paid £78 as a first installment, so in in the interest of resolving your complaint I will agreed to write off the difference off.

Jae, thank you for clearing all this up for me, I do appreciate the work you have done. What is the next step for cancellation?

 

I have to say this though - I was not advised of your price match until the time I phoned AFTER I sent my letter of cancellation in to yourselfs after hearing nothing. I remember thinking why has none asked me what the better price was when I expressed my disire to leave.

I am sure there would be a recording of my conversations over the last 3 weeks which would confirm this if you needed to check.

 

But again, I do appreciate you sorting this mess out.

I have to say I'm once again very happy with the service I've just received from sky insurance.

Thanks to ollie, I've now had a call back and I'm able to change over my daily driver once I pick it up and changed address with no hassle whatsoever. Just need to finish putting the supra back together then that will be on the road with sky too, offered me a quote that wiped the floor with everyone else.

 

My opinion has genuinely changed of them. ( this year anyway ) ;)

we have this facility available for customers insured via our car club scheme (specialist vehicles only) at renewal or new policy inception stage. If you are mid-policy with us I'm afraid it cannot be added until renewal.

 

We are not able to offer this in every case and cannot guarantee any value until the application process is complete.

 

We ask for the proposed agreed value to be: How much would the car sell for, in today's selling market, including modifications (if applicable) to a like minded car enthusiast.

 

Please note the above wording in bold, if you value your car differently to this then our agreed value policies are not for you. The most common issue we encounter is customers adding up how much the vehicle cost to buy against the modification cost. We will not value your vehicle this way so please do not set yourself up for a fall. .

 

For the application process we ask for recent images of the vehicle (exterior, under bonnet, interior) and the current MOT certificate.

 

The agreed value process is cost free but the value is not agreed until you have confirmation sent in writing.

Hello I have a question reguarding my insurance policy, I got caught speeding on the A1 motorway doing 101mph on 70mph road and am on court on the 12th December, am planning for the worst so if get a ban will I still be able to keep my supra insured? the car will be stored on driveway undercover or in my dads garage, so just asking if can get car insured while have my ban please?
