Can't wait to finally get it out of that driveway :)

Managed to sort the uneven bonnet issue so no longer require a new hinge

Making a proper start on putting the inside back together tomorrow afternoon - can't wait :D :D :D

Well, I'm pretty pleased with the work done last night!

Marc came round at first so we put in the heater box and crash bar and had a look at the back of the dash:-

Kieran then arrived and we put the dash back in:-

A little bit (lots of) persuasion had the connectors put back together and all of the bolts and screws in their relevant places.

A carpet and dash panel refitting later and the car looks like this again:-

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Muchos happiness! Took from about 6.30 until 11 with an hour break for dinner in between. This was with a couple of walks back and forth to Marc's car to double check the wiring around the ECU for reference :)

Next on the list of things to do:-

  • Ground the rear fog
  • Receive and fit new bonnet cables so that I can put the interior side of the catch in the right place again
  • Fit the seats
  • Connect the pipes to the heater box on the dash side and screw on the heater and A/C plates
  • Check jubilee clips securing FMIC
  • Put on arch liners
  • Fit new orange blobs
  • Secure headlights and reconnect all bulbs
  • Fit battery
  • Hooray!

Then assess the brakes! :taped:

Seems like a big list but it isn't at all! Nothing difficult anyway! :)

Today has been an awesome day!

First task was to head to Halfords and buy a new HCB005 calcium battery. I then headed out to the car.

Got the heater box pipes on after lots of pain (had to file open the little cover plate slightly as a bit of a clip was fouling it and proving difficult to move).

After doing this I - for the first time since July!!! - put in the key and turned it that first click. Having just done the heater matrix and reassembling the dash the day prior, I was pretty nervous about this. Everything lit up as normal though and the windows worked, the lights worked, central locking even worked now (it didn't unlock before)!! Very chuffed by this point! :)

Got the A/C cover plate back on (despite removing the A/C) and connected up all of the hard pipes to the FMIC.

Next thing was to fit the airbox I bought from Ryan G. It is an NA box so the opening is the right size, however the shape is different to the TT box and does not clear the intercooler pipe. The stock TT airbox is fine though (I had one of them on previously).

Cue me buying a Pipercross Carbon Fibre induction kit (seems pretty good quality, though pricey at £179!):-

With that on, there was nothing to stop me from now trying to start up the car except for petrol! It was low when it went into hibernation and so most had evaporated/sunk to the bottom and went slushy! 10 litres later and it was time to turn the key! MEGA nervous now!

The heating works! All lights are on fine! It's idling fine! Everything is as it should be! :D

Decided to test the brakes - popped it into reverse and away it went without hesitation or any issue! Got it out onto the (private) street and took it up and down a few times, braking harder each time to clear them up a bit! Noticed the temperature gauge begin to rise and so got back into the driveway and checked under the bonnet - a whistling was coming from a water hose. The top intercooler pipe had also popped off. Got the IC pipe back on and will tackle the water pipe as soon as!

Once that is done I need to fit my new orange blobs, fit new bonnet cables, ground the rear foglight and fit the passenger seat. Then it is MOT time! MEGA MEGA MEGA happy! So relieved!

Here are the pictures of it back in the driveway:-

The last question now is whether to put the badge on or not! :-

Gutted i missed the fire up :(

However, mega happy it fired :) Nice one dude

Yeah, gutted you weren't there man!

Marc filmed the first effort. The viscous fan wasn't tightened fully so was wobbling a bit, so we turned off, tightened the bolts and tried again. Not enough petrol so it started to shut off. A trip to BP later and the video above was posted :D

Haha me too! So chuffed! About time!

Here's the very first start up after 9 months!! and as per usual, we had thought we had checked everything over but there is always one thing, the bolts on the fan wern't tight enough so as James said, a quick stop and tighten and all was good.

and he's a little walk around-

it was a good day indeed, really surprised the brakes seem all good. :)

Passenger seat is in, fog light is grounded and working fine, gauges and stereo are re-wired and working perfectly, bonnet cables and catches were set up wrong so are now fixed and working perfectly every time. :D

Bought some orange blobs which should arrive in the very near future. Once they are here and fitted (I already have the bulbs) I just need to put the arch liners back on and fix a small leak from the under side (hoping just a water pipe, but finding it difficult to locate) and it is all good for MOT :)

Blobs should be here tomorrow or so, once here I'll get them fitted then put the arch liners back on. Following that, I just need to sort this leak and it'll be ready for this MOT :) 13 months off the road, so it is long overdue! :D

Well, the water leak was the biggest pain in the hoop to get to!

It was caused by a hose coming away from a pipe that was situated half way between the sump and the throttle control system. Nightmare to try to reach! Couldn't reach it from the bottom, though could just see it, couldn't see it from the top, though could just reach it. All sorted now though! No overheating anymore! Woohoo! :D

Need to get the 6 nuts to fit the indicators, fit the arch liners, make a bracket to mount the front plate and also get the plates that bolts the outside of the headlights to the body and I'm good to go!

That new splitter is awfully close to the ground when reversing into the driveway:-

Then it got even CLOSER:-

Didn't catch, but ooft :)

Not long now!

Fantastic Bud. :D

Christ thats Even lower than Mr Liam's and his is Low. :D

9 months without starting, now that is good going. :D

Thats it! The coilovers are coming down another few turns! :D

I would rivet a bit of flat bar to the bottom of that splitter so it doesn't rub away and finally crack.
