  1. I hesitate to raise this question (it gave rise to some debate last time), but do you put any copper grease on the disc/hub surface so the disc doesn't seize on? last time I asked about copper grease, I was talking about the alloy/disc interface, so the question's a bit different this time. Thanks for your help.
  2. Arse, I didn't do that (I changed the discs on the CMax at the weekend). Oh well, something to remember for next time. Thanks gents.
  3. Someone has told me I may need to get the run-out checked when I change the brake discs (we were talking about my Ford Cmax runabout, but it applies equally to the supra). Is this something that needs to be checked/adjusted? I can't remember exactly how the discs attach on to the hub on the supra. On my Cmax, they simply go on the wheel studs. In which case, any run-out setting would be lost when you undo the wheel nuts.
  4. Hello and welcome. NAs have a high idle when they're cold. 2000rpm, even 2200rpm is not unusual. Within a few seconds though, the idle should drop in stages.
  5. Hello and welcome. If you're selling it soon, I'm after a 5 speed gearbox depending on condition. What happened about the car+wall? Did a wall fall down onto it?
  6. I wouldn't swap the plates or even remove them. I'd just get the work done, assuming it's only for a few days. When it drags on for months, is when neighbours can sometimes get the hump about seeing a half-finished car on axle stands that never moves.

    Salon names

I think Jamesy on here owns/ used to own a hairdressers. He might have some ideas.
  8. Very nice! Who's is the bronze one? Is it a UK spec?
  9. I agree with far and adnan. I didn't know how best to describe it, so initially I didn't post in this thread. Probably (I have no evidence other than news reports) most terrorists in modern times do what they do in the name of Islam. But that doesn't make most Muslims terrorists. That's a very, very different thing. Most terrorists are men. Are most men terrorists? What if the guys on here were avoided by women because they might be terrorists? Found it difficult to get jobs because they might be terrorists? Easy to brush it off for a day, but try living like it for 30 years. People who think those involved should get over it, tend not to be in the group who have been wronged. I tried to think of a decent non-religion example of the treatment of a group of people (e.g. how women are treated), but I couldn't think of one.
  10. Guten tag. Welcome to the forum.
  11. Can you post up photos of the seats please?
  12. Who is the printout published by? It doesn't look genuine Toyota because the picture has aftermarket parts on it (spoiler, wheels). What's inside the owner's manual cover please? Is it just the printout in the other photo? Sorry for all the questions. I'm interested but not sure if it's exactly what I'm after.
  13. Are the seats available? The photo seems to have been removed.
  14. Gosh, there's a lot of interest in this. I'll throw my hat into the ring for just the gearbox, but I know you said you'd rather not split.
  15. Can you give more info about the gearbox please? How many miles has it done? Is it hard to get into any of the gears? Do any of them crunch? What level of power has been run through it (e.g. NA, or has it been used for NA-T, etc)? And of course, how much do you want for it?
  16. How much do you want for the rest of it (I don't need the frame)? I can probably collect from you.
  17. From Chris' post #6, I think a supra would be too lardy to be competitive.
  18. It sounds like your goal is to beat your friend in his C63. I'm guessing his C63 has around 550bhp, or a bit under...? There's more to beating a car than comparing manufacturer's bhp figures. Engines usually lose bhp with age. Consider the weight, torque, 0-60 times etc if beating a C63 is your real goal, and factor in losses over time. I applaud your plan to get the handling tip-top, that's good. Unfortunately it's not glamorous: most aftermarket obvious bits don't improve the handling. Over the years, not much knicker elastic has been snapped by viewing new OEM suspension trailing arms. What will you do if your friend sells the C63 for a 1.8 Mondeo? Your supra's raison d'etre has vanished. I know I sound like the forum grandad, I'm just prompting you to consider what you want out of it, so that you're more likely to enjoy it and it not be a flash in the pan. No problem if you want a wide-bodied monster with rock-hard suspension, there's several people on here that share this view, just don't expect it to always improve the performance.
  19. Hello and welcome! What's your reason for wanting 550bhp? Have you experienced a car that has that kind of power, for example? Do you know what it feels like? Nothing wrong with aiming high, but there are trade-offs when you want to get more power out of a car (always cost, sometimes reliability). If it's to have one-upmanship against a guy down the pub who brags about how many ponies his motor's got, think hard about whether you want to do it. Boost refers to boost pressure, in this case generated by the turbos. Contrast this to an NA (normally aspirated) version: these have no turbos, and hence no boost.

    Soo Expensive

Chances of the engine going pop depend on how well it's been serviced, and if it's been poorly modified. Also be concerned about the bodywork. They're not prone to rust, but that doesn't mean they don't rust. Running costs are OK given the type of car. Be wary of big bills for occasional things that might need doing, e.g. suspension overhaul, corrosion work, tired turbos, etc. Some are pushing 25 years old.
