I had a delegation from the UN at my house the other day, they were worried that when I start the car up after a four month lay off the migration patterns of rare sea birds will be affected, military satellites will have their hardware fried, earthquakes will happen in california, and the earths magnetic pole will flip.

Mine made TWO little kids cry at Billing
  3. I'm not sure my car will be ready for the Green Hell but would be well up for being someones co-pilot! I won't affect your power to weight ratio too much, I have good personal hygiene, and I don't scream during brisk driving More than happy to go halves on petrol costs etc.
  4. Please do a whole lot of research on turbo conversions before you spend any money, your route will cost you a fortune in the long run. For one thing, think of the resale value of a TT you buy now for 12k and a NA you buy for 9k and then spend 5 or 6 grand on to get it up to a similar power level.
  5. Corvette C4; maybe a C3 or C5 if I was on a MkIV buyers budget
  6. Well if you're impatient, imagine how I feel
  7. Unless there is a boost control solenoid connected to the AEM it won't be able to do anything to control the boost, so you just leave all the WG maps and everything alone and use your boost controller as normal. It won't care how much boost you run as long as it's within range of the MAP sensor you choose to use.

    Smoke :(

The turbo assembly needs to be stripped down to get at the oil seals, and rebalanced when it's put back together.
  9. But claiming "it's got 980rwhp" on the back of one dyno run is like me claiming "I can live underwater" because I can hold my breath. Me and the engine would both die if we tried to live up to those claims for than 30 seconds!
  10. A bit misleading though . . . it made 980rwhp ONCE, at 36psi, I think he said on supraforums he runs it at 24psi or so absolute max at the drag strip.
  11. Mark, the only guy I know of who's gone from HKS DLI to AEM CDI has had big problems getting it to work. THe DLI seems pretty routine to install and doesn't cause any issues apart from occasionally frying elderly ignition coils. I think the "hot ticket" for widebands at the moment is the AEM gauge type unit, check it out on their webpage. Best place I found to buy was http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com, great prices, great service (even though mine hasn't arrived yet! - not their fault though, AEM's) and they do "package deals" which give you everything you need. Going down the route of using the AEM for boost control via the GM solenoid seems very sensible, that way you can set it up so that if you start detonating, run lean, get too hot, whatever, you can cut the amount of boost you're running as one of the safety features. I'm flogging my Blitz DSBC and going this route. I'm getting the AEM/Kavlico 3.5 bar MAP sensor (better than the GM MAP sensor apparently), GM IAT, GM boost solenoid, and all the connectors you need. One other thing to check is that there is a "battery offset table" available for your chosen injectors, this will save you a lot of hassle. Have a search in the forum or check out the injector wizard in the sample software to see if they're listed.

    wots it worth

Chap on the email supra list, Simon Keane, has a BPU Supra and an M3. He hates the M3 but he says it's lost so much in depreciation he can't afford to sell it!
  13. Does anyone know if a branded tyre bought in the USA is the same as the same brand bought over here? Ie if I buy a (for instance) Goodyear Eagle F1GSD3 here will it be the same compound that they use in Texas or Idaho or wherever? I found a good thread on supraforums http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=165503 talking about which tyres give the best traction at >500hp on the street and wondered if their recommendations would translate across the pond!
  14. Unobtainium and kryptonite according to the yanks
  15. I thought most turbine blades were made of inconel anyway . . . at least on my Garrett jobbie. What the hell are they then? Anythings gotta be better than the dried mud they use for jap specs . . .
  16. Just push a few buttons on your laptop and lower the rev limit in your AEM to 1500rpm. IF THE BLOODY AEM EVER ARRIVES THAT IS!!!! I'm not bitter . . . . .
  17. If the tories get in, we'll get pro-car policies, watered down to pander to the anti-car lobby. If labour stay in we will continue to get anti-car policies which are watered down just enough that we don't line the cabinet up against a wall and shoot em. I know which I'd prefer . . .
  18. If they only catch you once every five months, then that's about £60 a year you'll pay for the priviledge of having no number palte. Up to you if its worth it! Did you get a fine or just one of the vehicle rectification order things? Did they ask why it wasn't there?

  20. I believe inconel does the same job much better.
  21. I came across a post on supraforums the other day about turbo kits on 1JZ engines. Apparently the stud pattern and a few other things are different between the 1J and 2J heads. However you can drop a 2JZ head onto a 1JZ block apparently (or vice-versa if you wish) which would solve that problem.
  22. There are LOADS of good US retailers, all at similar or cheaper prices than suprastore. Horsepowerfreaks are good, MVPMotorsports are good . . . there is no reason to bother with Mark Tozer and his fecked up company.
  23. So . . . no tinting at all is allowed?
