  1. Ian, if I didn't know better I'd say it was the ECU relearning the idle after thebattery being disconnected. My car takes up to a month to remember how to idle after a reset, exactly the same symptoms as you describe until then.
  2. I'm no expert but from a purely common sense view it should reduce the forces trying to lift the outside wheel in a corner or something? But as with all suspension things, unless the geometry is set up to take advantage of it any radical changes will probably make things worse rather than better The main thing is keeping the contact area of the tyre parallel with the road surface in turns - 90% of the time lowering, spacers etc totally screw this up.
  3. Tracking - adjusts the steering rack ends (can't remember the tech term for em). Four wheel alignment: adjusts camber, castor, toe etc on all four wheels. Or Tracking: this is done on fiestas Alignment: this is done on supras
  4. I have the turbo XS, good unit, no problems at all with it. Rated up to 30+ psi I believe.
  5. Child murderer vs speeding driver - I think the legal system knows who the REAL criminal is . . .
  6. What are you using for engine management Randy?
  7. I think you're talking about the endtanks. It's all to do with where the pipes can go and how low you can sit the IC. On a well designed endtank it shouldn't make a whole lot of difference though.
  8. Whatever the limit, it will be ridiculously high in some situations and ridiculously low in others - and we will all totally ignore it when it suits us Whatever the details, policies like this show an attitude 100 times better than the view new labia takes of driving. I've said it before - with a very few exceptions politicians couldn't give a flying fuck about road safety, the environment, GM crops, whatever. That's not their job. Their job is to pursue policies which will win them votes, and Michael Howard has obviously realised the wealth of discontent that the current anti-motoring agenda has sown within the masses. Mass prosecution for minor transgressions of an irrational law has firmly broken the link between speed enforcement and road safety in the minds of the populace; Brunstrom et als hystrionics just further our cause. No matter how much spin they put on it, road casualty figures for this year are projected to be six percent WORSE than ten years ago, before the first speed camera had been installed. They are trying to tell us that black is white and the voting public are starting to see this. And by the way; my usual motorway cruising speed in the mondeo is about 55-65mph, I just keep up with the trucks so it doesn't cause anyone any major problems (unlike the doddery old 40mph mobile chicanes I sometimes see on the A1!). Making up for all the times I've done triple that in the Supra I guess
  9. Completely untrue, fortunately! In order for anyone to be convicted there must be some evidence of who was driving. A letter is sent to the registered keeper asking them to provide the drivers details. Saying "I cannot remember who was driving" is a perfectly legitimate defence in law as provision is made for this in the legislation, you will need to convince the magistrates that you are genuine though and not just trying to wriggle out of it.
  10. Yep, a jammer is your only hope against those bastards. Are you sure you can remember who was driving? If you can't, and the driver cannot be identified from the photograph (unlikely) then there is no evidence and you cannot be convicted. You will have to put up with some intimidation from the police/CPS and maybe spend a day in court before they'll drop it though.
  11. Tony, you'll need to do some datalogging to see what the engine is doing at the point where you have the flatspot. Guessing at what to change is likely to make things worse rather than better! Loads of info and advice on the AEM forums.
  12. BOV's have a spring in them, set it too weak and the valve will open at high boost, set it too strong and it doesn't open at low boost and you get a flutter. If you can get it spot on then great, but it's much easier to put up with a flutter at low boost than a big leak at high boost!
  13. I think auto N/As run about 16.5 in the quarter, something like that anyway.
  14. Dump valve not opening properly, for whatever reason. Does it happen at full-boost lift offs (should be quite loud) or just at very low boost?
  15. Mmmmmm, shiny Let us know how you like it. Who are you getting to tune it dude?
  16. WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Bloody brilliant Mmmmm, I can't wait until the Easter Thunderball, been ages since I've seen some proper fast cars. None of this boring ten second rubbish.
  17. I've got a gig on the saturday so I can't make it.
  18. Now the french police are able to put points on your UK license (not QUITE yet but very soon) maybe they are letting the gendarmes know who to keep an eye out for?
  19. First thing you need is a plan! Seriously, I believe you will run out of puff on the stock turbos before you need to start remapping the fuelling and stuff. How much power do you want out of the car? How much room do you have for parts?
  20. Yep, and without a Motec in sight . . .
  21. I paid £100 for a pipe from powerflow and the quality was utter shite, steer well clear of those cowboys. In my opinion (even though he's a mate of mine!) the best exhaust welding I've ever seen was the TIG stuff that nick (NWS25) did for me last year . . . I can't see the joins and I know where to look for em!

    AHEM!!!!! :flame Dev
  23. I ran like this for a year or so, I was about to spend £600 on an HKS exhaust because I wanted something louder than the setup I had. Then I though "WTF? If I want it loud what do I need an exhaust for?" It's pretty loud, Matt H measured it and I forget the exhaust figure, about 130db revving to about 3000rpm. What I did was just unbolt the silencer section and go for a quick spin like that. If you think it's OK (I did) get a custom exhaust plce to make you up a "backbox replacement pipe" which follows the same run as your silencer . . . but without the silencer Theres two or three Mk3's running the same setup now, none of us have ever been stopped by the police or had any hassle. I used to do 70+ miles a day in the car and didn't get fed up with it, I'd just turn the stereo up a couple of notches if the drone got annoying. I built my current exhaust with a quick release clamp just behind the backbox so I can go from "very slightly silenced" to unsilenced in about thirty seconds
