  1. mine was new when i got it and binned it off at 14,000 miles faults in the 2 years i had it were 1) boot filled up with water 4 times (went to merc each time who told me they had fixed it... each time) 2) all by itself the car would jump on the brakes so hard it would bring the abs on, nothing was infront of the car either (went to merc twice and each time told this was "normal") 3) the entertainment system would shut down randomly and not turn back on for 2 sometimes 3 days (went to merc.... "needs software update", update done and problem carried on) 4) vibration noise on front end, went to merc "no fault found" i then found a rusty merc key ring stuck under the wiper arm causing the vibration. 5) could hear engine noise in the cabin, sent to merc "no fault found again" but car came back and the problem was not there any more, 3 weeks later i was filling car up and a young lad in the line for the till told me he worked for merc and he fixed my car a few weeks earlier? he went in to say a bung in the firewall under the steering collum had falled out and they replaced it. 6) wipers stopped working... at this point my car was parked up and merc and they were told im not taking it back. The car was a 2015 C220 AMG, i would not under any circumstances (even free) would i have another merc im not the only one with issues like this. The thought of a merc with big power sends shivers down my spine.
  2. I have googled this but cant seem to find anything on this subject. I have a 2003 03 d4d Avensis that i run around in etc, its always been a good car for a banger so over the years although i have other cars i cant see the point of parting with it. The car has 103,000 miles on the clock was owned by my dad before me for years and i recently decided to start towing with it, i fitted a tow bracket and set off from Yorkshire to cornwall with my trailer to collect two quad bikes. Once i picked them up the load was heavy for sure borderline on what i can tow with legally on my licence but all safe etc, car did the job well actually on the 300 mile trip back. so onto my question, the car has always been slugish but always ran clean ie no smoke etc etc. once i dropped the load off the car felt like it was up on power at least 25%, i put this down too driving so far at 60mph with all that weight on the back so this was just in my head but over the last few days i can say 100% its up on power indeed 25% maybe more. why is this? do you think with running the engine hotter ie pulling weight its cleaned itself out or something? the difference really is day and night.
  3. what your describing is indeed the early stages of clutch slip, well diagnosed. typically when a clutch is on the way out it starts high up the box and under boost, as the slip gets worse it comes down the gears. time to change the clutch.
  4. i had a brand new merc in 2015, in terms of reliability and quality of service from merc its the worse car/experience ive ever had. avoid merc full stop is my opinion
  5. spit lots, scratch and call his mother disgusting names
  6. different is cool!!!!! please keep us updated
  7. sick people, this is another level this.
  8. Hello mate, just gone through the whole thread and good to see the car is in good hands. the paint has always had autoglym weekly for 13 years before you had it hence looking like that however was resprayed if i recall 5 years ago ish and then polished with autoglym as before. I tried the products your using before and never got on with them. Car is looking mint, its had a TRD spoiler on before but i never liked it so stayed with standard. I see your looking at changing the engine however for now the existing exhaust (not manifold) has a lifetime warranty with custom pipes in Doncaster, also as you like clean the exhaust with a polish will come up to a mirror finish if you want it too. That engine is bomb proof and to this day its the best ive had, was serviced every year by a toyota tec who worked with supras back in the 90's.... ive always gone through diffs with this car, ive blow diffs just driving fast road stuff and drifting and after letting various people drive the car we put it down to the power, not a clue why its as fast as it it, the cams are standard but its not 225bhp that car no way in hell as you probably know by now. i had friends with fq320 evos and i could sit with them all day long. it was fast in totally standard form even before the exhaust for an na. its had a crazy life this car, was owned in japan from new by a woman who was a director of pioneer electronics, she handed the car down to her daughter who then relocated to kuala lumpur who ran an investment company and then put up for sale. The husband of a woman who used to run Hallmark cards imported the car as a surprise and thats who i got it from. in my build thread you will see the car was totally stock apart from 18 inch alasio alloys. I used the car as a daily going from doncaster to chesterfield monday to sat but the car was using £20 per day in fuel so and i changed jobs and used this as a toy, lots of track days in this, cadwell lots of times, york raceway and santa pod running a 14.3 at i think 100mph ish. Then went the show car route and i put 17k into that car ish ultimately rendering it boring for me ie i couldnt use on track days hence breaking it. For reference if nothing else, the standard brakes would outbrake anything and never fade, it would do 7 hot laps of cadwell until either the tyres went off or the power steering over heated and started spilling into the engine bay. (only on track days) never did the car break down ever. keep the updates coming and when you sell the engine id not just give it away as its a very good one and no a run of the mill one.

  14. unless you know something we dont, id say it is.
  15. its not a good investment if your going to spend your profit on storage, if you cant store for free id just not bother myself.
