  1. I spoke to my "friendly" mechanic today and he seconded what was said in the other thread. should only be a fail if the self levelling and washers dont work. If these are not there as standard, it cant be a fail.
  2. Just sorted this out! After the first attempt, looking at the wires and thinking "f*** it", decided to go again this afternoon. Turned out, there were two, yes TWO HID boxes per light, and the high beam was plugged into one of them. Happened to get hold of two full beam bulbs and holders, which I plugged in and hallelullia full beam now works. Ripped out the now redundant HID boxes. Also checked the sidelights.......shoddy wiring or what!!!!!!!! So re-cut the wires, joined and soldered and insulated. Sidelights now work. So now I have a full set of working front lights....problem solved
  3. Obviously, I'm presuming you didnt view it before buying as it was imported. However, surely there must be something you can do along the lines of "vehicle not as advertised"????? Or speak to the import company and see what they say (obviously don't know who imported it.....Dont mean to step on anyone or anything). If you import a car, you would have though it would get a UK service etc when it gets UK registered? I dont know much about this though. Maybe ask Jurgen if there are any ways you can go about sorting this out with the company who imported it for you.

    HID Kit.

Andrew, do you run with high beams as well, or just stick to the HID main beam? For some reason on mine, the previous owner wired the high beams up to the HID (incorrect if i'm right) and they dont work. iirc the high beams should just be as standard still? And by not having high beams, is it an MOT fail? MOT coming up in the next couple of weeks!
  8. Irecently did this also, however I managed to do the front without removing the a-pillars. If you pop the uppar part out (the bit along the window) that gives you enough room to play with. Really easy to do. Had my old one out and new one fitted, including visors and interior light, in less than 20 minutes. Good to have a guide though, as I only knew how to do it from stripping my old supra.

    HID Kit.

So, just to be clear......if we have HID's on a JSpec its NOT an MOT fail, as it doesnt have self levelling or headlamp washars as standard?
  10. get a grip man and get up some pics Oh, and to the club. Huge wealth of knowledge here. Use the search button.......99% of topics have been covered before. However, if you cant find what you're looking for.....ask. Someone here WILL know the answer
  11. Happy days dude. Good to hear things are looking good for you
  12. What i'm doing for mine is the same as what Noz did. Buying a universal 3 pod pillar, and cutting it up, and fibreglassing it onto a stock a-pillar. Smooth and paint. That way its custom to the car and every thing will be exactly where I want it. Thats the only other choice I reckon if its a 3 gauge pod you are after
  13. The only thing I can see mate is that the angle doesn't look too great IMO. Could just be the photo though
  14. Welcome mate. Any of your new pride and joy????

    Window tints

The self tint stuff goes on the inside mate. I did it on my old gen7 celica on the rear side windows. I took the panels off inside, cut the film to roughly the right size (couple of inches bigger than needed) then stuck it as per instructions. Once it had dried, took a stanley to the edges to tidy it up, replaced the plastics, job done. The rear window however, is a bit different. You will struggle to find tinting film from a place like halfords that will cover the whole window in one piece. This obviously means there will need to be a join at some point, which if not married up well, will be really obvious, and look tits. (If you go for this, I advise putting the join vertically down the centre of the window, following the vertical heater element, to aid in hiding the join) If I am correct, I think professionals use either film, or I believe they may use a spray tint? Not 100% sure.
  16. 1993 JSpec TT manual. 4 yrs no claims, 25 yrs old. Performance direct quoted £900 (ish) CCI doesnt work for me, as the car is often not at home over night due to visiting family, and dont really appreciate the "if its not at registered address between 2200 and 0600 you're not covered for theft" bit. Waiting for Sky to get back to me. Admiral is a no go for me. They f***ed me over on insurance for a celica a few years back so wont go near the again. (Told them I would be a week late on a payment, they said it would be fine. Went to pay them, to find out they had cancelled my policy without informing me) Any others worth trying?
  17. Welcome to the club dude. Looking forward to some pics
  18. Whoa wont be that garish though lol Personally I think thats a bit too much. The red I will be using will be brighter than that too. Hopefully mine turns out ok. :S The theory is I will be able to do all the panels I want to do using just one piece of leatherette per panel, so avoiding any seams.
  19. Is this the bottom half of the rear seats you are after? I have a set of rear seats complete in a for sale thread, but would rather not split them.

    Bit of a giggle....

This is so simple yet so
  21. Will do. Pics will be taken throughout the whole process. Wont be starting it for a few weeks yet, probably over the easter period when I have a week or two off from work. Watch this space
