  1. Why would you buy an Aristo? They're craaaaaaaaaap
  2. Actually, there was a movie made in Australia starring Billy Connolly called "The Man Who Sued God" - about this very thing.
  3. Fuck, on re-reading my post it sounds pretty fatalistically pessimistic! But I think it's worth saying anyway.
  4. Read through the Pistonheads thread... And FWIW each side has valid points. One problem lies in the fact that no-one on the racing side seems to consider that you drive to the shops WITHOUT helmet/harness/HANS device. And another is that we on the street side are assuming that a rollcage has to be designed in a way that compromises ingress & egress, and is positioned in locations with high potential for head trauma in an accident in street conditions WITHOUT helmet/harness/HANS device. I voted no to cage, purely because I don't think there is a way for the two issues to be resolved in compromise in a Supra (without severely altering the car's interior). Another part of it, for me, is that we all accept implicitly (but perhaps unwittingly) that when we play around with our high-powered cars that there is a risk of part failure or driver error at high speed - which, in my opinion, is highly likely to result in very serious consequences for us. Probably death. And I don't think these potential problems will be solved with a roll cage in a street car unless wearing full protective equipment.
  5. Sorted! Buying one locally
  6. Looking steadily more and more awesome! Can't wait for more progress pics
  7. You're right, the intake did give more power - but remember that the results are skewed a little because the dyno runs with the intake ALREADY had the exhaust cam installed So if you have another look, the spool gain from the exhaust cam was nullified but there was more top end. The exhaust cam seemed, both on the graph and on the road, to really open up the midrange power.
  8. A mate of mine tested out 264 exhaust cam, then added an intake cam of 264. Exhaust cam made much more difference. Niko's RZ T04Z with exhaust cam upgrade Niko's RZ T04Z with exhaust & intake cam upgrade
  9. Sounds good, mate Needs vids... for unbiased confirmation, of course
  10. This. While I do feel for your brother, Adnan, I think it's a harsh reality for us all to face - that we all to blame in some ways, and we need to be just that little bit nicer to everyone. It's not a "tree hugging" solution, just simple psychology - if you're aggressive, you get aggression back. Conflicts as small as Hackney or as big as the Middle East will only be truly ended when people realise that it's positive reinforcement of good behaviours, not just negative reinforcement of bad behaviours, that actually causes positive long-term changes. We need to start by fixing the causes of anti-social behaviour, not simply punish the kids who go off the rails because it's all they know. My 2c.
  11. Looking awesome, mate. The bolts are a very nice touch!
  12. Already on there, Jon Just spreading my net of potential sources via here as well. Well, that is the plan.. but don't want unnecessary miles on it or the worry if I wanted to take it to the continent etc. Aristo would be a nice daily beater
  13. Oh, don't get me wrong dude - I love my car and I think it's dead easy to drive (it's at similar power levels to JamieP's single) but certainly comes with some compromises. But it is manual, and from the experiences of my friends with big power autos they definitely become more difficult to drive to the shops with a big stally and race-oriented auto.
  14. Not trying to be a prick, but I think you really need to reassess your needs if you want a daily driver. Simply put, the more power you make, the less comfortable or easily driveable it becomes. If you *need* whopping great amounts of horsepower, then you have to either spend lots of money to make it nice to use or just live with the inevitable compromise that it requires (noisy, low MPG, expensive servicing, constant expensive tyre wear etc).

    Thunder Road!

Good luck all those competing! Hopefully we get some nice videos to drool over when you're finished
  16. Ah, and the inevitable hunt for power begins Look forward to seeing how things turn out, mate!
  17. Perhaps not that relevant, but I've price checked the US for brand new front bumpers - $250 odd USD. Obviously, the shipping will be relatively expensive, but I reckon the combined cost - compared with the local Toyota cost - was definitely worth considering back home in Australia (and shipping to there is much more expensive than to here!).
  18. Stab in the dark, but is anyone familiar with this Aristo on Pistonheads?
  19. Hi all, As stated, I am looking for a good condition Mk1 Aristo locally. Must be MOT/Taxed, mechanically well-looked after, and rust-free. Would prefer leather interior, import & ownership history, and relatively close to London. Most other things are negotiable. All those interested in selling, or who know of someone interested in selling, please PM me. If I don't find something within the next few weeks, I will be sourcing through Jurgen. Thanks, Andrew
  20. Garrett Turbos and HKS are nearly identical, as both are manufactured by Garrett - the main difference, as far as I know, is that HKS have some proprietary housings that mean boost comes on harder and they make slightly more power. T04Z won't make 800, and you might be pushing it on the 40 series. I think you'd have to go 71mm or bigger to achieve that comfortably.
