  1. What Alex said - it's surprising how much you can actually fit in those back seats! Plus, you can transport 2 passengers relatively comfortably for short distances (i.e. less than 1 hr drive) with the back seat in.
  2. Well, there's always more to do, isn't there. For a stock bay, yours is nigh on perfect - but then you think (well, I think about mine)... I could fill those now unused holes, and refinish the bay colour, and completely tuck all the wiring, and.... So "almost" perfect
  3. haha that's classic - cuts off just as you start to shit yourself "almost finished" engine bay looks "almost" perfect
  4. Completely agreed. All governments seem to think that we only have the intellectual and moral/ethical grasp of children, and therefore cannot possibly deal with the whole truth of their decision making process. What it *REALLY* means is that they have carte blanche to hide dirty little deals with unsavoury people, extremely unethical conduct (political assassination, war crimes etc) and plain old stupidity / mistakes without us ever knowing and making them accountable.
  5. Why don't they ease overcrowding simply by shipping the prisoners to a remote island on the other side of the world.... oh wait.
  6. Not sure what you're saying, Wez?? Are you saying that a dyno in 4th (or 3rd, I think it is, in the auto) of a vehicle that requires a road speed past 80 km/hr before a substantial rise in power delivery (and therefore a goodly way past 100 leptons once you let off the loud pedal) doesn't represent the potential to speed in other gears? Or have I just missed the joke?
  7. Thanks for the compliment Although I think it's worth pointing out that (take another look at the dyno plot) with a "street" car on a single turbo, be that small or medium or large, will have most of the power available past *street legal* speeds. Not that I am preaching, because I'm more guilty than most, but certainly worth remembering if you have a tendency to succumb to the temptation of the right foot.
  8. Haha, yours is quite nice - but I posted this thread for other people looking for 6 speeds
  9. In another of my series of posting Australian & New Zealand Supras for sale, here is one that has been on the listings for quite some time - and recently dropped in price to $25k AUD! http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=51469 Cliffs: built 3.0L, T88 38GK, Stock body painted blue. http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/private/carsales/5262437.jpg http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/private/carsales/5269235.jpg http://liveimages.carsales.com.au/private/carsales/5269229.jpg
  10. VVTi not turned on (AFAIK). Race fuel, GT4294R. Oh, and this is wheel kilowatts, not flywheel - to avoid any confusion. I'm not just blindly saying "search" as if you're asking a often repeated question, just that if you have a *firm* idea of how you plan to use the car (roadrace, drag, street etc) then I know that looking at other setups using a similar turbo will answer a lot of questions regarding (type of more than brand of) clutch / injector / turbine housing / divided vs undivided manifold etc. Remember that there is always more than one way to skin a cat, so "better" often depends on the situation. However, the ECU dilemma is a doozy. If you want an opinion from an Australian workshop that has installed a number of ViPeCs, including on a VVTi T04Z, then ring ESP in the A.C.T. and talk to Glen Kelly. The details are on the dyno plot above.
  11. As many have already noted here, there is very little difference between VVTi and non-VVTi blocks and heads - so with judicious modification and tuning a 2J can make 500-550 rwhp on pump fuel without compromising driveability or longevity. Past this point, it seems you start to have to either invest a lot more to maintain longevity or accept the limited lifespan. As to your questions, keep standard intake manifold, standard head (but up-spec the cams), but get bigger injectors and better ECU. For specific answers, talk to a reputable workshop and let them help you decide (or do a lot more searching, because there are plenty of setups on here, SF.com.au, and SF.com that give you all the info you are asking about, bar the ECU questions). Are you referring to stock head meaning stock cams /valves /unported? My car with stock VVTi head (bar 264 exhaust cam) made over 580 rear wheel kilowatts, let alone flywheel horsepower.
  12. You assume correctly, Dusty - Glen is the man to talk to about the technical changes.
  13. I *was* going to say that Sunoco is less hassle, but considerably more expensive... but thought I should actually compare the prices in the drum : 119 Sunoco vs : e85 racing it seems that the main considerations are whether 70% greater cost and legality issues for Sunoco are less than the cost of upgrading fuel system to run e85.
  14. Noticed you on the way home last night from Mitcham. First Supra I've seen since moving down this way
  15. Good luck with the op, and a speedy recovery. Just remember to do as many multifidus and transversus abdominis exercises (pain-free, of course) as you can in the early stages of rehab

    Left Foot Braking

Left foot braking is awesome - especially when it's called "brake boosting"

    2010 Plans

Aus: Upgrade to TRD diff. possibly upgrade to e85 compatible fuel system. Here: maybe in the market for a Supra soon
  18. I'm not absolutely positive it's in AUD though, so if it's NZD that's £9.2k
  19. No problems here you go: http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v374/179/0/640914967/n640914967_1522664_2216.jpg http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v374/179/0/640914967/n640914967_1522663_1864.jpg http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2364/179/0/640914967/n640914967_2128453_193.jpg http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2198/179/0/640914967/n640914967_2108266_4476.jpg TPqv_Ew-gwU
  20. It's an R154, which are very strong - not as strong as the Getrag V160-161, but is commonly used in big power 1J builds. You may have been thinking of the NA 5 Speed W58, which is pretty weak.
  21. Thought some of you may be interested in this one - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=265411401 The owner is on the Au Supraforums, and here is the build thread: http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=23015 Seems a very decent price for a lot of car, even including import costs to here.
  22. well, I'm certainly interested in evaluating the difference between undertray and no undertray on Vmax! It's definitely one thing we gloss over with Supra modification.
  23. I agree with your sentiment, but it's often difficult for those without intimate knowledge of the two comparison cars to isolate aerodynamics as the sole reason for their different Vmax. Tyre size, height and compound; driver skills; car weight, setup, gearing and power delivery all come to mind as potential confounding factors. The other thing I thought of was that Vmax is one of the more accurate indicators of power - maybe the cars weren't as equal as first thought?
