  1. I've got to assume that a. my car will be back and running problem free by that point and b. my work hasn't got something 'better' (sic) for me to be doing, but seeing as I've missed literally every show this year due to my engine build taking so long, I'm - tentatively - in. 1) Shane 2) Carmel 3) Clay 4) Ripped Fear 5) Binfieldx + 1 6) JCBT + 1 (Chris) 7) Benjy 8) Timlowthian 9) Berg (+1 passenger) 10) t14ppa + 1 11) Black-widow87 12) Fastcar 13) Axl + 1 14) harleyfdmd 15) tkddav3 16) Pilchard +1 17) DaveR 18) 19) 20) 21) 22) 23) 24) 25)
  2. You'll be pleased to know that most of that has come off over the years then... I'll have to get the paint pen out when I get my car back.
  3. Ooh, pictures! Don't forget my billet water top neck...
  4. Gaddammit! I'm working that weekend as well... I'm fairly sure I'm destined never to be able to come to a DB event. :( :(
  5. Wow, you are GOOD at not getting facts right, sunshine. The quoted term made me chuckle, yes, but it wasn't actually me who said (wrote) it. Crack on and remember it that way if you like, I don't really care, but if you can't remember something accurately from one day to the next (when all of the information is stored for you and written in black and white!) then frankly I'm not even SLIGHTLY surprised that you also misread and misinterpreted a very easy-to-understand advert and then within 17 seconds of having this pointed out to you not only flew off the handle about it despite never having parted with a penny, but also saw fit to hijack someone else's build thread - i.e. mine - with a barely comprehensible string of substance-less b*||*cks. Your main issue here, the root cause, is that you have BOUGHT THE WRONG CAR. Go and sell it, but a TT as it seems you obviously wanted to in the first place and then, if you can't afford to tune it, LEAVE IT ALONE.
  6. This. If you're worried about spending £4k then tuning an already-expensive, older car such as a Supra maybe isn't for you. Tuning is EXPENSIVE and when old parts are put under increased strain, weaknesses will show up more quickly meaning costs can mount. I always try for a rule of thumb being to have AT LEAST £2k over and above any initial quote to mitigate against unexpected issues. Keep your NA and get used to being beaten off the lights, which it kind of seems is probably your thing... Also... What?
  7. Damn, I'd been planning to go to that one with some motorbikists from work until my engine died. Would have been good for a catch up. Next time, eh.
  8. My turbo is only a couple of years old so it seems crazy to swap it at the moment. Never say never an' all that but I'm more than happy with my BW for now. Plus, given how much this built engine is going to cost me, I don't really think I can convince Mr Bank Manager to fund another new turbo as well... My respray colour is EXTRA top secret, too. Suffice it to say I think it's unique as far as Supras go.
  9. Uhhm, it was on a special rate from the supplier... Basically because 'why not'? I think it's still fairly unique, which is a big draw. Thanks, mukka.
  10. No. No it wasn't! But I've adopted an "it's only money" outlook (uh, again... ) so this should be a new lease of life for the old girl. That's the plan! I've no ideas what to expect, power-wise. I suppose I would expect 8-900bhp, but I guess it depends on the limitations of the turbo. I'm not after turning this into a bragging rights, Top Trumps-esque numbers-chasing exercise though. I really just want the 'lower down the rev range' grunt that more displacement should bring. Saying that, running 2BAR boost sounds cool!
  11. Hello again all in the Supra world. Having all but dropped off the face of the planet, forum-wise, over the last few months (about 8 of them, really...), I thought it was time for an update on my Suki. It's quite a big one! I moved back to London last summer and haven't really been able to use my car a great deal, what with being extremely busy with my new job coupled with living once again at least an hour from anything approaching a 'fun driving experience'. I've even had to take to disconnecting my battery between uses of my car to prevent it from flattening completely. Not good. The last time I did manage to get my car out for a spin, however, I noticed what I initially thought was a boost-related issue. Basically, the car was revving and performing as you'd expect up to about 4.7k rpm and then it was as if I was experiencing boost cut or hitting some kind of rev limiter - the performance would just stop and I'd have no power at all. I checked all the usual suspects (vac hoses, boost pipes, electrical connectors, etc) but couldn't see anything obvious, do I decided it was time to get the car in for a refresh before the summer comes, starting with fixing this problem. I dropped my car off with Whifbitz in Enfield with a list of faults that I wanted to be fixed. After a week or so, I heard back from Paul: As you can imagine, that's not QUITE the result I was expecting... I was more hoping for a "we found a loose jubilee clip but we've replaced it and now everything's fine..." kind of result. After a bit of wishful thinking on my part and some further digging, I learned this: I was already aware of the smokiness on start up (one of the jobs I'd originally booked to have done was to replace the valve stem seals in an effort to cure this) but with this news I decided it was time to put my dream engine spec into action. So... With my original hope of something simple well and truly gone, I'm biting the bullet and having the following installed over the coming weeks: Whifbitz Stage 3 cylinder head Brian Crower 3.5l striker kit ARP head & main studs New OE gaskets, oil & water pumps and viscous fan coupling Titan crank pulley TRD engine mounts and brackets OS Giken Super Lock LSD :eyebrows: :eyebrows: Clearly that's not an exhaustive list, but you get the idea! I'm also getting a few more dress-up parts fitted while the engine's out and getting the bay sprayed black in readiness for my eventual respray (waaaaaaay in the future... ). I'm sure Paul and Darren will take pictures for me while the work is going on () but for now the waiting game begins while all of the parts are assembled. Watch this space...
  12. Good thread revival. Here's mine, taken last summer: The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that my plenum / throttle body / intake pipe / power steering reservoir used to live on the car in Post 26, belonging to sdistc.
  13. And me! Thanks to all involved, it looks ace.
  14. Ordered. GOTTA have the Club calendar.
  15. Looks good mate. The little jobs are often the most satisfying.
  16. Excellent job, buddy. I've had this exact sort of thing as a vision (for want of a better term) for ages, it's good to see a) it works and b) someone's done it! Good effort.
  17. Turbo porn: Takes a while to kick in, but when it does things get extreme...!
  18. Just read all of your updates since my last post. Very nice work. It's good to see attention being paid to both mechanicals and aesthetics. Oh and as stated, your new front bumper is (even with the MVP lip, which I'm not really a fan of...) 1,000,000 times better than the old one!! Good work.
  19. Sorry to hear about the loss, matey. Good luck for finding a 'Teg though.
  20. and Looks like you have some great plans for your car (i.e. go tasteful!). Looking forward to the results.
