  1. Kumho's are 'OK', F1's are my choice, but go for the same in all four corners. F1 rears and Kumho fronts meant chronic understeer in the wet, safe i spose but not much fun............ NB I except other combo's may well work better / in your favour, just not this one IMO !
  2. "17th (Sunday) is best for me" Ok for me too mawby millhouse Scooter
  3. Yep good to meet up with everyone, i to am suffering the effects of the sun. Look forward to seeing a few of you again next weekend..........
  4. Where are you all its 10.10 and there's not a soul here
  5. cheers for that teminator (and Thorin) very useful.
  6. sure does, i reckon you've earned it.
  7. Monkeymark, looking back how bad were the 265's on the 8" rim, i'm only looking to put on 245's, so i should only experience a small degree of the bad effects. Also are you sure your stock front wheels are 81/2, i thought all stock fronts were 8"?
  8. Ok I know what your saying and it seems i was wrong re the lexus wheels being 8" only wide. Whilst I appreciate the point that mr toyota made it that way i.e. don't mess etc 235's are a definite standard fit to the fronts of standard 8" wide 17's, so I don't think there is much of an issue in fitting 245's to a 8" rim, is there? What i'm looking to find out is the actual difference you may feel / notice when driving between rear 245's on a 16x9 or 18x8? Would the handling balance be compromised any more than say having differing tyre makes front and back? Is the 245 tyre profile being rounded off by being put on a 8" wide rim and hence will provide less ultimate grip? How dramatic an effect does the unsprung weigh saving make? and all things being equal which wheel and tyre combo is likely to be the lightest? I know its not perfect / idea but how much worse will it be from the standard set up? Note i'm looking at 245 BHP (crank max) not 350+ like your average bpu uk spec car which the majority, that i've seen, still run on standard 255 rears.
  9. Ok i've searched and read through numerous old threads on the subjects of widths offsets and tyre fitments etc. The incorrect fitting of after market alloys seems too happen alot. So pre alloy purchase i'm doing my research e.g. Read CW's contribution re >17's & low profiles not being ideal and also about less than 9-91/2" rears being 'wrong' 1) My new sup has 16x8's and 16x9's with 225's and 245's on respectively and the grip level is more than adequate. 2) Members with the 18" GS300 sport rims have 245's on the 8" fronts which i'm presuming is the standard lexus fitting. My query therefore is this, the idea of 8" wide wheels at the back is shunned, but whats the big deal if it has the correct offset and wears the same rubber as stock. e.g. what would be the negative effects with for example all 18x8" lexus rims with 225's Fr and 245's Rr.
  10. Opps my bad, got a bit ahead of myself didn't i, thought it was tomorrow. Looks like i'll be fine for 10am SUNDAY
  11. I could be late too as i've just this minute sold my 2nd car and need to put a few bob in the bank which doesn't open til 9.30am. Therefore looking like 11 will be the earliest i can get down. If someone getting there on time could take down my no. 07760 264024 and also let me know if you move on. Cheers
  12. just to confirm still ok for this, 10ish at the pub, see you all there....
  13. Steve 'C' your commitment to the marque is impressive, you must look to the heavens sometimes when you see thread after thread re the supra's reliability with the prob's you've had. I'm sure the run in will be fine and hope you go on to enjoy many years of repair free supra ownership, you certainly deserve to...... Steve 'W' fingers crossed mate............
  14. Sounds like you all had a great time apart from Steve (gutted for you mate). Pod was a nightmare, just so busy and lots of bikes that get let round alot it seems. Did get the one run in my new NA and did 15.49secs (about 1.5 secs down on my standard TT times) + also enjoyed watching some of the proper drag bikes / cars run. looks like its a local track day or the long haul up north when i next get the urge.
  15. No timimg lights or head to head, and for me and my NA no real point in doing the top speed run + the journey itself, means i'm gonna have to whimp out of this one and go somewhere slightly more local tomorrow.
  16. Michael you could pull your TRAC fuse and practice your power braking although you'll be fine anyway, no chance of stalling or just sitting there wheel spining with your auto. I don't know the format of the 1/4 mile top speed runs etc but if its like woodbridge its not a problem, on the other hand the proper lights and head to head at pod adds the pressure. BTW could well pop up from down south with steve W unless i have to be at home to let someone see me old sup (this is seeming more and more unlikely) and if its head to head 1/4 mile then we can pair up and you can kick my NA butt (i'm used to comin second best on the strip, my only victory was against some dubiously modded red car driven by some tall bloke called Ian;))
  17. Welcome Pulse, I've never heard of anyone here doing the brake swap you propose, and there have been plenty of discussions on the small j-spec brakes your future car has and the improvements/upgrades available. It may be possible, i don't know but if they are significantly bigger calipers then you may run into standard wheel clearances issues even if the calipers happen to bolt straight on. Probably will be more hassle than its worth, as you can significantly improve the small MKiV brakes with non standard pads.
  18. SHE LIVES......................... Local friend of a friend bloke has managed to disconnect the alarm so that i can now drive it again, however he was no Matt Harwood (creep creep) and could not fix it outright. I'm not sure if this easy disconnection indicates anything about whether the alarm ecu etc is or isn't working or whether it means nothing at all (I am in the process of consulting the ICE deity himself as you read)
  19. Also check the oil Pressure sensor, which i believe is tucked away in the area underneath the oil filter. No visible signs from above, but undertray was covered and oil down the side of the block on the passenger side. Don't know about the seals mentioned but this is a cheap (ish) fix.
  20. the other Christian Pm'd me only, both very helpful and almost as nice as Matt.
  21. Yeh i tried that, but no combination of key fob pressing was helping. I've got a new battery today and need to connect this up to try pulling the Dome fuse as suggested by another member, but its currently hammering it down. A big thank you to everyone for their input so far especially to Christian, (nice) Matt and 400BHP, looks like in time everythings gonna work out fine:) This last few days has been a PITA but the help received has eased my mind and in monetary terms will probably save me my subscription many times over.
  22. I'm looking at around £100 from toyota for the alarm ecu and I have to get it there plus they can't do it until 11th july!! It's parked in a nightmare position to even get onto a tow truck and i'm not sure my AA breakdown recovery covers me for home breakdowns, so the costs could mount up. Possibly better to get the toad, I think i'll give you a call Matt Thanks again.
  23. ok so just to get this straight i get the alarm ecu from toyota and my friendly local auto electrician does the rest with no problems if he's half decent? Ahh 're sync the keys' yes my thoughts exactly:conf: BTW this presumably means that i could rip out the old alarm and fit a toad 20ai (?) or something instead for what looks like not much more money. Do you think this add or subtract from its impending sale? (i have only ever had one key fob for the original alarm which works fine but looks past its best) cheers Matt
  24. Er no, I was kinda assuming (in my infinite ignorance of all things electrical) that the parts needing to be replaced and reset would have to involve some technical input that only toyota could provide? What i'm saying is that should i be able to source these bits would a normal auto electrics guy be able to do the necessary or would it still need to go to Mr Toyota? The prospect of getting it done in situe at home is very appealing given the circumstances even if i have to get the bits new, so i'd be interested to know if a non toyota fix is possible.
