  1. Scooter, that's cool. If Jakes parts are useful to somebody then they're better off being used for that as obviously I'm just wanting them as ornaments. Makes no difference to me if they're TT or NA bits Would definitely be up for that at the weekend though, cheers
  2. Yeh that is a bit bland, just a tyre and glass, doesn't even look like a decent F1 tyre. You'd want at least a modern looking slick with the chunky sidewalls. I reckon a wheel would be a much better punt. Simon, cheers I will bear that in mind especially if someone has a scrap crank that I can have
  3. You can get a rear F1 wheel on eBay every now and again for a touch over £100, I always thought that with a round glass circle would make a nice table too.. Don't want to push my luck though!
  4. (Just don't tell the missus yet..)
  5. Cheers Jake, will have a look on multimap and let you know
  6. I did contemplate PM'ing him but Shropshire is a fair old way from the South East, especially as I'm right down on the coast in East Sussex.. Would cost me a fortune in fuel before I've even started and I was hoping for a cheap project to while away some time
  7. Has anybody in the southeast area got a scrap engine they're willing to let me have for very little or nothing? I only want the crank, rods and pistons and would prefer that at least something there is knackered (i.e. spun bearings or overly worn bores etc. ) as long as the main parts don't look broken. For a little project at home to make something arty Can collect if anybody has something going, cheers!
  8. Another try on this, anyone able to help? I've searched and can't find anything useful
  9. Any ideas where to download that region free app from, http://forum.rpc1.org/ still isn't loading for me and I can't find it anywhere else? Or has anyone got it they can mail it to me please
  10. rpc1.org seems to hold what I want but isn't responding at the moment. Will keep trying, thanks guys
  11. Cheers Scott, will give that a try tomorrow see if it's back up
  12. Hi All, I've got a Sony DW-G120A drive in my PC that is set to a region (well I get 5 chances to change it and then it locks). I've done some searching and found that you can make it region free with a utility. Something mentioned about it being based on a MediaTek drive and thus being easy to do? But I can't find what I need to make it region free, anybody got any ideas? Much appreciated Cheers,
  13. I had a feeling my network might be the problem. I might get a new switch, have seen 5-port Netgear's for about £15 which should do the trick. Can't see it being anything else. Both the NIC's are onboard Intel Pro/100 VE jobbies so should be ok.. Scotster, this is wired and supposedly running at 100Mbit/s so a lot faster than a wireless connection and still having trouble with stupidly small files. Normal file transfer I've also found to be rubbish, stalls something terrible so will have to have a look in to it futher.
  14. Well I've just tried playing local files and they start up absolutely fine, have tried AVI's up to about 50Mb so far and no problems at all, but over the network it's painful to the point where it often crashes or just stalls for minutes at a time even on 1-2Mb files. Something definitely up with my network, the two machines are only a D-Link switch apart so I'm wondering if the switch is having issues. I might try them both plumbed in to my Netgear Router instead and see if this improves the network speed. Also noticed that straight file copying is stupidly slow too, quicker to dig out the external hard drive, put stuff on that and then copy back on to the other computer. All 100Mb NIC's, 100Mb switch and Cat5e cables, most strange..
  15. Just been setting up an HTPC for a bit of fun, saw a couple of threads on here about it a while ago and thought I'd waste some time I've gone with MediaPortal, seems like a really cool program, does what I want and does it with ease.. Loads of functionality that I won't use yet or probably at all but handles my MP3s/Photos with ease of use, really cool looking at them on a 32" LCD too! Having some trouble with videos at the moment though, they're really slow to open and MediaPortal seems to be struggling. Not sure what the cause is though. I'm streaming them from a W2k3 file server over a 100Mb network with little other traffic so wouldn't think that's causing a problem? Otherwise the HTPC is a 2.4Ghz processor with 1Gb RAM and an nVidia Quadro FX 500 128Mb AGP4x graphics card. This should be man enough for the job surely? Just about to try and update the graphics drivers as these threw a wobbly when I was trying to sieve through some small home vids (talking 1-35Mb taken with digital camera) and crashed completely. Other thing is, once I've got a big enough hard drive, I want to rip some of my DVD's on to the HTPC, mostly the series I have on DVD as this will make it easier to watch. What's the best thing I can use to rip these with? And I'm guessing with the DVD quality stuff I probably want a local drive rather than streaming from my server..? Cheers for any pointers
  16. Ermm, doesn't sound that well looked after to me, oil goes off when sat around. I wouldn't even start it until the oil had been changed, too risky..
  17. Personally I wouldn't buy a car with that low mileage on it, it's done far too much sitting around. It doesn't do them any good not to be used, things perish and sieze etc. Doesn't sound like the servicing's been kept properly up to date either, which would put me off even more

    New toy..

I don't see why not Jamie, if you look at the website it says any kart as long as it's in a good state of repair and you have the appropriate personal safety equipment. So as long as it looks sturdy and you're wearing a bash hat and overalls, gloves etc. should be fine

Doesn't mean I'll be any good! lol..

Sorry Howmaw, didn't see your reply - there's a track fairly close to me, Lydd International Raceway in Kent where they still do they racing now. It's site is http://www.heronspark.com/ and they are open most days, you can use the track as much as you want between 10am-4pm for £40 or £25 for a half day, seems fairly reasonable for a lot of fun!

Yes, I'm very lucky, she's pretty cool and likes buying me presents Jamie - Gixxerkart, that looks like a beast. I was looking at YouTube vids the other day of an 1100cc one in Germany, looked fecking mental! I had a quick shufty at eBay the other day and narrowly missed out on a 2000 Yamaha R6 engine and gearbox for £200 Tempted to have some fun with the kart how it is and then modify it in to something like the Gixxerkart, cool project

    New toy..

Got this the other day (present from Mother-in-law..) Sorry for crap pics, but the only place I have to put it at the moment is in the shed standing up and it's hard to get a decent photo of it. If it's dry tomorrow I might get it out and get some proper pics http://www.i-macca.co.uk/temp/kart2.jpg http://www.i-macca.co.uk/temp/kart1.jpg It's an ex-Formula TKM kart with a 100cc Tal-Ko BT82 2-stroke engine. Good for about 70mph apparently, direct drive with a hydraulic disc brake on the rear axle. Apparently very good fun and will make the Supra seem slow as a*seholes Can't wait to get it out to Lydd and have a play with it!
  23. I don't know to be honest, I've only driven a Supra with a standard clutch. I've just bought an OSG myself to go in, so wondering what I've let myself in for! I think the only way you're going to find what you want is to drive other people's cars with different configurations in it. Clutch feel is very subjective, what one person deems to be similar to stock and easy to live with, another person will find snatchy and hard to live with. If it's as stock as possible that you're after then maybe a standard flywheel with a Chris Wilson uprated clutch, I believe he uprates the OEM units to his own spec. Not sure they'd handle the power you're going to throw at it though? There's a lot of torque from a single that will upset standardish clutches. Worth seeing what he advises?
